MPA has really stepped up to the game and will only get better!! Looking forward to their first Micro Compact much like the newest Staccato released this week!!!! Very nice shooting!!!
Just got my MPA DS9 hybrid ported and it is amazing. Fit and finish easily better than anything outside of an Atlas or that price level. Plan to get a DS9 commander next year.
The problem with the SA is two fold, 1 quality control, of the 4 that my shop has sold 3 had to be shippid back to springfield for problems. 2. all of the parts on it ar MIM tell me how it holds up in several thousand rounds as compaired to the other 2 that use milled bar stock parts.
I enjoyed your comparison of the Staccato XL versus MPA DS9 (and Prodigy was cool too) But I came for the comparison of the MPA DS9 versus Staccato. I just picked up a Staccato XC and the trigger is measuring 2lbs 1.0 Oz on my Wheeler digital trigger gauge *5 pull avg. Dang. BUT ...I want to get a DS9 and I am leaning toward the DS9 LOC version that is supposedly even more finely tuned and fitted. Great stuff.
Have you shot an Atlas ? If so how does it compare to the DS9? I have a staccato xc and have the opportunity to trade for an Athena but might end up just adding a DS9 instead.
@@CandMTactical I now have all three. Athena, DS9, and XC. Athena is the best build quality but it’s not a significant difference. My XC is still my favorite because of the comp. I put a steel grip and it’s insanely flat Shooting. The DS9 is very close to the Atlas but I’m probably going to end up selling because I don’t like full size guns all that much typically and the XC and Athena are plenty. I prefer commander size. I’m either going to save for an ares or get the DS9 commander.
Do you have any issues with activating the safety by accident on the ds9, and have you had any feeding issues with ds9.I have heard mixed things about the ds 9.I was looking at getting one. Also is the grip aggressive enough. The prodigy i won't touch because i have heard of issues luke the slide getting hung up moving slower than it should.
@SMASHTIME so you come over the top of the safety with your thumb on the draw?.Also is the reset very short, and does it the recoul come straight back without much muzzle rise? I think i might get it.
I doubt that Prodigy is completely stock; I have one and had to do a lot of work to get it to run even semi-reliably. Would have to send it to a real 1911 specialist to get it to actually run reliably. I also have an MPA Open for competition and and MPA Commander 4.25" for carry and I would take them over a Staccato any day of the week, especially the Open since Staccato stopped making theirs when they took over from STI. I find Staccato to be too mass produced for the price; they want true custom price, but only offer semi custom quality. I think if Staccato was $1,000 less it would be a hard decision; nicer and more reliable than the Prodigy, but not on the same level as the MPA.
all i'd be worried about is if i should buy a new ds9 right now or a used one off gunbroker. my only concern is making the choice that lets me use the gun immediately after I receive it instead of going through finding all the bullshit malfunctions that have plagued that gun in the past. I know that if your gun is fucked up, you can send it back and get it taken care of properly. just want to make the right choice.
For the DS9 the first year was rough.. but its almost all in house now so the QC is great. Mine has been 1000% flawless. well over 4k rounds through it
When MPA switched production facilities, the DS 9 had issues for sure but they have ironed those issues out! Exciting things happening at MPA with the entire DS 9 right now!!!
Czechmate is an open gun , 4 port comp running major PF it’s definitely flatter less dot movement, felt recoil. Can’t beat the price either, cheaper than most 2011 limited guns available. That being said owning one myself nothing beats a 2011 trigger and reset! But all in all phenomenal pistol !
I have tried the masterpiece arms and didn’t like it as much as the staccato xl I own the staccato XL and was also looking into prodigy- but looks like i might try for a NH
Man, I wish they would do these in DLC!!! for the price of these pistols they have to be DLC!!! I have an XC and 3 Korth revolvers and it’s impossible to get another gun after having the DLC finish.
The prodigy is a good choice for someone that just uses it for what it is and doesn’t want to modify it any. But to to get it neck and neck to the specs and feel of a Stacatto the Prodigy will end up costing more to own.
I’d disagree. Everyone I know who owns the Prodigy has upgraded all internals with Atlas triggers, Wilson hammer and safety, little heavier spring, Taran tactical extended magwell, etc. and turn an average firearm to one that’ll hang with the best of them.
@@crakka5150 that's like dudes who have 2k in a glock 17 talking about glock perfection. Springfield had an opportunity and chose profit over quality. End of discussion
I have a prodigy customize it and there is no comparison with still a smaller price. I sent mines to Dscgunworks. I am getting or ordering this MPA man this thing is nice looking!
Failed to mention $350 dollar difference but the MPA comes with a metal grip and metal trigger. That’s hundreds more in value added
MPA has really stepped up to the game and will only get better!! Looking forward to their first Micro Compact much like the newest Staccato released this week!!!! Very nice shooting!!!
I really like that MPA>. its almost cheating hahaa a
Love my DS9. Best 2011 bang for buck, IMO.
For sure. have you seen their raced out version.. MAN.. its cool
Super amazing things happening right not as MPA right now with the DS 9
Lovely video. I own a Staccato XL in chrome/dxl black and it’s a beast. It’s my EDC. Never shot a better pistol. Worth very Penny
That’s a large gun to EDC. Too hot in Texas for me to carry daily, and many would likely freak out if I was printing nowadays in Houston.
Just got a DS9 Hybrid today. Cant wait to light it up!
David.. how do you like your DS9? what color did you get?
wow smash the start of your video is like star wars in side a spaces ship . I do like the design of the pistols also
Great unbiased honest review on these pistols!
its hard to do as I am very biased hahahaaa.

I would definitely say the DS9 is better than the Staccato also.
for sure. .. When you coming back on the live bro?

Heard about the 30 super round? Maybe I'm late hearing about it.
I really trying not to get into too many new rounds.
Great pair of guns. The Springfield doesn't belong on the same table/review....
Have you shot an Atlas ? If so how does it compare to the DS9? I have a staccato xc and have the opportunity to trade for an Athena but might end up just adding a DS9 instead.
ohhh man.. thats a tough one.. seeing how the Atlas is almost twice a DS9.. I would go DS9. Its neck and neck
Trade. Take the atlas all day it's on another level

the xc will be flatter, you cant compare a compensated gun to a non comped one no matter how expensive it is.
@@dsxz I was never comparing the two in terms of how flat they shoot .

I love the DS9. I shoot with my thumb holding the safety so its not an issue, but usually no it does not flick it up
@SMASHTIME so you come over the top of the safety with your thumb on the draw?.Also is the reset very short, and does it the recoul come straight back without much muzzle rise? I think i might get it.
is this the Springfield MAC had issues with ?
yes it was.. Chamber is super tight. as long as your shooting factory ammo your good to go. does not like reloads
MAC has issues with everything they test. 😁
So you’re in North Houston ?
What about that new . 2311ish from Oracle that's coming out in a week or so after Shot Show.?
Did u say pocketbook great grandma?
I could have said coin purse lolzz.

Enjoyed the video
Thank you sir.
I've got the DS9 Commander and I very much regret not buying the full size. Still a great gun, but it makes me want the big brother.
Brought tears to my eyes. Both please, take $$ from my estate when I'm dead.
hahahaaa.. Randy. just get them now
I have tried the masterpiece arms and didn’t like it as much as the staccato xl

Some fine pistols,
I'm soooo jealous right now!
What a great review
Thanks buddy

@@SMASHTIME Great Review. My DS is on the way. Will have my own shootout with my Staccato, OG STI Tactical, and my Prodigy Commander.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
One day I will move up to the car notes guns!!
If I were to start getting into guns today I would just get this one and be done. the MPA is just that good
Man I would love to put some rounds through the MPA. I too shoot at SGA!
SGA every friday except this next one
I have to say I'm slightly jealous.....ok...a whole lot of jealous

Uh… its perfect to modify. Replace all internals with egw or atlas and you are at 1800 for a gun with just as good internals
And a better optic system if they can ever get any bloody plates in stock.
@Daniel Henderson better than the Dawson DPO, yeah not likely. Not saying it isn't good, but my money's on Dawson
I’d disagree. Everyone I know who owns the Prodigy has upgraded all internals with Atlas triggers, Wilson hammer and safety, little heavier spring, Taran tactical extended magwell, etc. and turn an average firearm to one that’ll hang with the best of them.

Omg! Very nice!!!!!
👍
Looking for a DS9 hybrid as i type this...lol
Its my absolute favorite pistol. Shoots so sweet and its such a nicely made gun
Should of had the bul armory instead of the prodigy
I have shot the Bul Armory.. its my least favorite
Just by the way they look I can't afford either ...
To bad you didn't have a Bul Armory Tac 5 to include in your lineup.
shot it. I like it the least.
Great video.
Thank you. I worked hard on it and it seemed to not really catch on yet lolzz
Cool
it's no comparison between the MPA and Staccato imho, the MPA is leagues better.
Sadly, the Prodigy has way too many MIM parts, Staccato is just a dressed-up STI and if you truly want to go custom, MPA leads the way!
to build a $3,000+ 2011 with a polymer grip should be a hate crime.
Neither of the 3k plus guns have polymer grips that I know of.
@@CandMTactical pretty positive that the XL is a polymer grip from the factory and over 3K.
@@jht05016 you are correct. My apoligies
The Prodigy is what the Stac & DS9 shit out……
I wouldn't want the Prodigy for free.
Prodigy doesn't belong in this review. There, I said what most were thinking.
Ehhhh you're from Houston

The prodigy is hot garbage. Replace all the internals and buy mbx mags and it will run

That prodigy flatter than the staccato
No.. but its less than half the price.
