Today I am taking you to a unique place called "Mising Kitchen", a fantastic community space in Guwahati, Assam where I saw food that I have never seen before!

Welcome to one of the beautiful Northeastern States of India - Assam.
In this Vlog you'll meet my two talented friends; my batchmates from 1987, National School Of Drama (NSD) - Baharul Islam & Bhagirathi Bai Kadam and their daughter Barkha. We'll see the talented duo creating magic with their play, directed by Bhagirathi & brought to life by Baharul and their amazing students at Seagull Theatre.
We'll also meet Nibedita Yein who runs Mising Kitchen along with her husband and learn about unique traditional Assamese cuisine.

It's so nice to see how much you're enjoying the food!! But can you please give us recipes of Fish Varta and Daal?
Fish Bharta is smoked fish de-skinned and boneless done then mashed with chopped onions, green chilli , coriander , salt and mustard oil . Daal is basically lentil preparation with moong dal and masoor dal with equal proportion or however you like . No tarka only salt is added and some green chilli or coriander which is optional .

Elephant apple is available in other parts of Northeast as well. Arunachal pradesh, Tripura, Manipur. Thailand has lots of elephant apples.

Main traditionally prepared item are not easily found since it is prepared with rarely found leaf called Phrynium pubinerve .. inside it sticky rice is prepared and that can be eaten with smoke pork orr dry fish..
