I've been a huge fan of NBS for several years now. Although I've missed the presence & directing of Jos van Veldhoven, it is very nice to see/hear Sayuri Yamagata leading this incredible ensemble...hopefully this is not a onetime event. NBS, never cease...ever.
Incredible music and top notch playing. She replaced another singer last moment. What an amazing voice and performance. This concert took place on the day that we learned our dad (and a lifelong member of the Bachvereniging) was seriously ill. This music was so comforting and sharing this concert with him was a very precious experience. Many thanks.
Wunderschöne und lebhafte Aufführung dieser fein komponierten Kantate mit herrlicher Stimme der genialen Sopranistin sowie gut harmonisierten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Originalinstrumente. Die intelligente und ebenso geniale Violinistin-Dirigentin leitet das ausgezeichnete Barockensemble im rhythmischen Tempo und mit perfekt kontrollierter Dynamik. Einfach wunderbar!
just when you think NBS is "sleeping", and the world is going to hell (not to the goddess Hel, that would be okay, but to the Christian version) they post a magical piece like this and you feel so much better.
Things are a mess right now, & will be for awhile. But ultimately, all things will be resolved. And in the time of our next Planetary Administrator (you know who), in the next Age of the World, the music of Bach will be here!👍
I’m not the biggest fan of continual vibrato with voice and there are historical sources that make its use questionable. That said, this performance was enjoyable. Ms Doyle let the vibration come in in some Cases as an ornament rather than applying it completely throughout; her approach is enjoyable I think too because she annunciates so well. She has a good command of good style. The band was excellent. Oboe solos aren’t all easy but were well done.

Absolutely wonderful performance by Julia Doyle and the NBS. The best I've heard since Elly Ameling and the ASMF under Neville Marriner in the 1970's.
