You guys are living my dream. Id quit work tomorrow to do this. Ive can build the rig and maintain it in the field. Ive been building Government Communication vehicles for over 20 years and I am a Jeeper! Half the stuff you carry I already do everyday. I just have no like minded people around me to do something like this. Maybe one day... Ugh!! Until then Ill just watch you live your dream.. Keep up the good work guys.
I RUclips is better than tv, especially mainstream networks like NBC and CBS because of their antiquated format. Case in point, The Eco Challenge. It was amazing, got picked up by Discovery Channel, still ok, got picked up by NBC, sucked. Celebrity interviews, stupid 3D graphics, it turned the realness of the struggle off and replaced it with quick cuts and video game style cameras on wires and endless commercial breaks.
Clay, is there any way you guys could do a full breakdown for your vehicle med bags and personal med bags? I know this would mean going through quite a bit of equipment, but I also think it would be incredibly helpful to anyone who plans to take on an expedition trip. Best wishes to you guys and your families, and as always, keep exploring! I can't wait for the next season!
Great video guys! Thanks for putting so much effort into production. Besides being top notch entretaining, it's also a great way to get ideas for our own expeditions. Keep them coming!
Very very cool .. great to see what you guys pack and in addition your bug out bag set ups. I am rally looking forward to your next series. Thanks for sharing!
great video. I hate to ask you. will you please turn CC on these next videos and i can read your captions because i am deaf and would like to take your ideas and prepare myself for my future expeditions with some deaf overlanders some days. you, guys, inspire us! Thanks.
ExpeditionOverland Al you have to do is create a .txt file with the sentences line by line. and hen upload it as captions to the video and youtube magic will line it all up!
***** thank you. i am aware of that. i have been doing that for many years, but when this video released, it didn't come with the cc at the begin. i asked for it. It was fixed with CC afterward. it runs greatly. Thanks, Expedition Overland.
Amazing video! Never a let down from xoverland your show is very inspirational to me and hope one day I can take my first trip overlanding .. I'm a experienced off-roader but never have had the funds to take a real overland trip .. thanks ExpeditionOverland
Great video gents! I am looking forward to the new season starter, Jokingly my fiance and I have a new home on July 6th. I told her we are going to initiate the Wifi and flat screen TV with your new season opener. Thanks and keep up the good work. Your videos are wonderful and I can't wait to be able to purchase a DVD series of the Alaska/Yukon trip with outtakes and "never before seen footage" stuff added in. :D
Nice! Maybe you can do a video for the cooking gear/set up, other for the sleeping gear, recovery gear, etc? So we can appreciate more in detail what you use and how you use it. And what about your energy supply system? Do you have solar panels, a separate bank of batteries, inverter, etc? Or you power your illumination equipment from your truck battery?
Is there a video where you guys explain your bathroom setup? I know it’s not as glamorous to talk about but it’s an important part of any overlanding trip.
A lot of the same stuff I take when going out ATV'ing for the day, of course not to the same extent as you guys haha love your videos, keep them coming !
Awesome information! Thanks for always making such great videos. Very helpful for experienced overlanders and newbies alike! You guys rock! What's next and when because I can't wait!!!
This is a very informative video. What I am curious about is how does the IFS set up in your Toyota vehicles with the modifications that you have made with your vendors in the types of terrain that you encounter as shown in your other expeditions.
I would love to see the vehicles closer. IE the second battery, in cab battery monitor, i assume an inverter somewhere, compressor, additional fuse block. Working on my 4th gen T4R currently and love the functions of your rigs. Efficiency and design are my passions. With the rear tire removed from underneath did you fill the space with something? I was thinking 3 aluminum tanks, 1 for fuel 1 for water and 1 for air. Then i can plumb the air into the water tank to keep the water pressurized so it can flow without a pump. Just ideas floating in my head.
Great Videos and great information! You talk about airing down the tires when on the trail. What are the pressures when airing down? IS there a guide to airing down?
I love your show guys real people real world, thanks for sharing and for the useful tips, I really love the chainsaw on the Alaska Yukon trip, bring her back... why not CB radios? on the vehicle built episode the vehicles were equipped with only 2 meters radios, CB radios are very popular worldwide, why not equip the rigs with the legendary CB radio?? the 4X4s are state of the art, amazing job, can't stop watching many thanks
Looking forward to the new season....Have owned three 4Runners in the past (90', 99 and 05'). Wish they would have kept the V-8 in the 4Runners. With all that gear & bodies it will be a good test for the Toyota's.
Great video guys and I'm hooked. Your should really try and get this video to Discovery or Nat Geo. BTW, what did you guys do to seal your tailgate or did you guys?
Where do you get the alu-boxes? Also what size was that with the food storage? I've been looking for an alternative to the space cases from ARB. Love the series!
DON'T KNOW IF I'M SPELLING THIS RIGHT / MAXX TRACKS / WHERE CAN YOU GET THEM? DO THEY WORK IN THE SNOW TOO? JUST STARTED WATCHING YOUR YOU TUBE VIDEOS AWESOME ! GOD BLESS YOU ALL! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE IN YOUR JOURNEYS!
David Stillman They are amazing in the snow and we here in Montana have them in our cars and rigs 24/7 in the winter time. Check out our our third episode in the North America series. ruclips.net/video/3EYHoc7Oqbg/видео.html
Any idea where to get those silver storage cases from (the ones you were packing the freeze dry food into). They look the goods and I wouldn't mind adding them or something similar to my setup.
Very nice, great tips too. On a side note, how do you guys like the 5th gen 4Runners compared to the 100 series Landcruiser you used to have/use? ie all around driving, fuel consumption, comfort, capability, daily driveability?
Noticed it looks like you didn't tow the trailer along on this trip. What were the deciding factors for that? Having the 3rd truck? Trouble with boarder crossings? Just curious.
Disconnected Offroad The third vehicle definitely mitigated the trailer need. Safety was also a small concideration known how the Central America roads etc can be. We wanted to be a super agile convoy. In that regard it payed off big time.
Great video, very informative and interesting . You mentioned your day packs by (Trip Lox) sp, I was trying to locate the backpack and get some pricing and info, but was unable to locate. Did I get the name correct or am I totally off?? thank you
What camera did you start out using ? Our first trip is in June and we are preparing for that now. I live across town from Kurt and will be scheduling a time to meet with him next week to pick his brain as well. We thank you for the inspiration, Mike
Thank You, I appreciate what you have done for me! I have been craving adventure and I was hooked from the first episode! Keep In touch, Mike 2berylwind@gmail.com
Thanks guys! Funny, I'd just sent you an email asking for a list of your gear! If possible, would you be willing to elaborate on your website specific gear rather than general? Kind of a beginners guide to quality materials. I haven't not done much in the way of overlanding, but have every intention to do so and I want to purchase quality equipment right off the bat. One quick question, what type of trailer hitch do you use that allows the flex required for your adventures?
Bummer. I was hoping to see what video gear you were filming the series with. It would be cool if the person who was responsible for it would make a series of videos where he goes through some do's and don't's when filming on the road.
Hey, We are planning a trip to Haiti next year to do some good in an area that was ravaged by the earthquake of 2010 and even more by the Hurricane Matthew... Little help? How can we contact you?
I would like to know why you are carrying OPAs. or oropharyngeal airways in your "first aid" kits. do you have a paramedic (or other licensed professional) on the excursion that is under medical direction? Or do you think that anyone who needs an OPA is going to survive after an accident requiring any kind of airway intervention? just wondering what kind of "medical team" or other resources you have provided for these expositions.
Hi #ExpeditionOverland, I am going to do the same kind of expedition soon, but I am indecisive between Wrangler Rubicon and this 4runners. Which one would you recommend based on your experience and knowledge? Thank you in advance!
David Deiss given that every vehicle they use in every series is a Toyota i think you have your answer. I would recommend the same thing with sticking with toyota for many reasons #1 being reliability, im a die hard American truck guy but im sorry Toyotas are more reliable then jeeps are by a long shot. #2 if you plan to go to foreign countries and 3rd world countries like they did you can get a toyota fixed anywhere in the world and they are simplistic and still relatively interchangeable. the Rubicons offer a lot for the money but i dont quite think they have the reliability nailed down quite yet to the point that i would feel confident going off the grid with one unless its like a first generation Rubicon in the TJ platform with the 4.0 don't get me wrong the Rubicon is a fantastic vehicle but when you are talking about over landing and Toyota there is no competition because i would believe there are going to be many challenges over landing and you don't want one of them to be fixing your vehicle in the middle of no where or trying to get parts or trying to get a vehicle fixed i a 3rd world country that they have never even heard of.. if you plan to stay in north America and lower more populated portions of Canada you'll be fine with a jeep because you wont be so far away that if something does happen you can get it fixed, some fan boys get so caught up in brand loyalty that they look past the bigger picture that if you are stuck somewhere your vehicle can mean the difference between life and death
kodiak4502004 Thank you for you comment. The reason I am still thinking of Wrangler is that it is an American car and really has got some good things like; 4:1 low gear, lockers and solid axles, but as you have said reliability is very important. And also I was told that Wrangles have a poor noise isolation, which could be very important for driving on dirt roads. However this runners seem a bit much in terms of having too much electronic gadgets... I wish #Toyota were importing #landcruiser70 in US or Canada.
There are a lot of things we should be importing as far as vehicles go. I haven't heard many thing wrong electronic with Toyota.. I work for a towing company and we tow a lot of jeeps due to electrical problems and they are dead in the water with no power and need to be towed..not sure what causes it but it's common amongst them all. The only time we tow Toyotas is for having 2 flat tires or accidents
Agreed...That is one tool that even the Aussie boys don't leave home without...But if everyone has an axe and is willing to jump in, it wouldn't be too bad...If it is only needed once or twice.
Ok, your crazy. Now that that's settled, allow me to make a suggestion. Check out Silky hand saws. I own several and highly recommend the Genki-Temagari 500mm/19.5 inch, as a light weight, no gas, no oil, easily packable and MUCH SAFER alterative. This saw cuts on the pull, so don't put any power in the push it is only a return stroke. The first time I used this saw I cut 5 inch green maple in 14 pull strokes. In 25 years of landscaping, no other hand saw has come close!
You guys are the only ones I’ve seen who do a buildup that could be a realistic big out load out. Good job!
Keep up the good work guys.
this show should be broadcast on TV. An actually interesting documentary.
gatewaysolo104 Yeah! Do you know anyone that works in the TV networks?
gatewaysolo104 I'd agree but it probably wouldn't be as good. :)
I RUclips is better than tv, especially mainstream networks like NBC and CBS because of their antiquated format. Case in point, The Eco Challenge. It was amazing, got picked up by Discovery Channel, still ok, got picked up by NBC, sucked. I have the Stanley Cooksey you used in the South America trip and love it.
You guys are the reason my next vehicle will be a new 4runner. Love your videos and excited for the new season ExpeditionOverland
Awesome gear!! Way to think ahead in case something pops up on the trail.
i'm doing a 3.5 week trip this summer living out of my 4runner, your list definitely gave me some good ideas. Looks good! Thanks for sharing!
Clay, is there any way you guys could do a full breakdown for your vehicle med bags and personal med bags? I cannot watch enough of your shows!
We can only hope to become this efficient. You guys are such an inspiration to us! Amazing work as always.
Great video guys! Thanks for putting so much effort into production. Besides being top notch entretaining, it's also a great way to get ideas for our own expeditions. Keep them coming!
i was literally just wondering about all of the stuff to bring on an overland trip and then saw your new vid. sweet!
Great video guys, Really enjoy seeing your choices and thought processes behind gear selection.
Man i can't wait for this series to really kick off. This is a great starting point but lets go, everyone is ready to see some offloading!
Very very cool .. great to see what you guys pack and in addition your bug out bag set ups. I am rally looking forward to your next series. Thanks for sharing!

that is such a cool awning on the taco

I was just talking about wanting to see a video like this from you guys! Thanks Google!!
Awesome, can' t wait for the 1st episode.
Great video! Can you do one more please about your incar navigation tool and what else you have for when driving? Thanks a lot!
thanks ,great video i always watching! safe you all.
Very informative video. Just one question. Why did your film gear need to be anonymous?
you guys should put links to all the stuff for every episode! it would be super helpful
This is a very informative video. What I am curious about is how does the IFS set up in your Toyota vehicles with the modifications that you have made with your vendors in the types of terrain that you encounter as shown in your other expeditions.

What was the brand of your cooking pots? It looks the perfect size for me.
Any idea where to get those silver storage cases from (the ones you were packing the freeze dry food into). They look the goods and I wouldn't mind adding them or something similar to my setup.
+Batemans Bay 4X4 Club Inc. If you look carefully you will note they have "Alu box.com" stamped into the sides.
Very nice, great tips too. On a side note, how do you guys like the 5th gen 4Runners compared to the 100 series Landcruiser you used to have/use? ie all around driving, fuel consumption, comfort, capability, daily driveability?
TAD gear hokked it up!!!!!
Luv it!
Awesome video as usual. For The rear work lights you outfit on the bumpers, where did that come from? I'm assuming it telescopes up and down?
massari0418 cbi off road bumper with telescopic and rotating light
Very informative.
What' is the brand of tool roil you are using?
What is the name/brand of the tool roll your using? Looks like a good size needing one for my wrangler.

Im looking at your GPS gear and Im curious to know what hardware and software you guys are using on this adventure and on the Alaska adventure too?

Love the vehicles. Do not like the silver 4runner's color though. Idk, I just don't like silver SUVs. no idea why lol
Hi there! Are you planning to do some kind of BTS video? BTW great Channel! Thanks!

Only a few days frpm the series premiere.
Are you coming to Costa Rica? If you are contact me!
No chainsaw at all? Can't wait to see how well that decision works out.
Agreed...That is one tool that even the Aussie boys don't leave home without...But if everyone has an axe and is willing to jump in, it wouldn't be too bad...If it is only needed once or twice.
Why cant the 8th come sooner!
Individual first aid kit...kit
IFAK kit.
No chine saw !?!?!
John Ossendorf Nope.. Call us crazy!
Ok, your crazy. Now that that's settled, allow me to make a suggestion. Check out Silky hand saws. ..........bog out bag ?
*Bug-Out bag. its like a survival bag for a few days in case of emergency or evacs
Too bad you can't carry along some firearms.. Awesome setups though..!! No chainsaw though..?? You know it won't be needed..??
You guys are to prepare. It makes the adventure boring
how can someone join or be a part of a possible next expedition?
