  • Cycle of Seasons (poem by Cynthia Ciani Anderson, style: folk, pop)
    snowmelt streams, woodcock calls
    harrier hawks swooping for voles
woody stems adorned with tight buds
    coltsfoot yellow starting to show
    suddenly new leaves unfold
    grow to fullness
    flutter in wind
    cool us with shade
    leaf colors appear
    stems begin their letting go
we walk on a carpet of red and gold
watch dry leaves swirl in wind
    overnight the color palette gone
replaced by a canvas of white and brown
    all winter long marcescent leaves
wigwag on beech and red oak trees
