My mom actual saw this musical when these exact people, Adam pascal, and heather headley, played these songs. This is probably my most favorite song in the whole musical.
How lucky! I got to see Rent on its final six weeks and they brought back Adam Pascal for that. Funny enough I never got to see Aida but I own the soundtrack and know the story and want a revival so bad
Played the flute/alto flute part for this musical in the pit orchestra last year... I was tacet for this so I just got to take it in, I loved it so much. I still come back to it and sing with it sometimes lol
I went to see a local theatre group do this show a few months back. I knew nothing about the show, I was there because some friends were in it. Ever since then I've wanted to find another group that are doing it so I can join just to sing this song!

Saw Aida on Broadway in Spring 2002 (the date’s important). Honestly thought the rest of the musical was kinda boring. But I sat up in my chair when this one started at the end of the first act IIRC. Had visited Ground Zero that morning. So I thing this bittersweet song about longing for one’s home nation really struck a chord with me that day. I still get chills when I hear it.
I was in the pit orchestra for this show for my school. The whole show especially this song was just absolutely incredible. I loved every second of it.
Heather Headley’s emotion in this song is second to none. Why Disney never turned this into a movie is beyond me. I saw this years ago and Toni Braxton turned this song out also.
Thankfully they didn't turn it on into a movie bcuz they always ruin them with big names who can't do their parts justice. Examples: Madonna as Evita; Antonio Banderas as Che. Just recently, John Legend as Jesus (Christ Superstar) and then they right new songs, which muck up the original score; and the big star wants one of the best songs as Madonna took Another Suit Case In Another Hall. I won't even go into how Cats was torn to shreds!! The only musical that they transferred to film respectfully was Jesus Christ Superstar. It was done with minimal props, original cast members and no radical score changes.

My parents say a play all the time and I'm just like: "NO!!!" THANK YOU!!

You do know that SIR Elton John WROTE this music (along with Tim Rice) he did not perform it....maybe have a little more respect.
