You yourself have an amazing singing voice ❤ your voice reminds me of the old-school times and vibes when disco, r'n'b and jazz/blues were rocking the charts and dancefloors ✊🏼🔥
I know people disliked this as a single... but I really liked it. _Catfights & Spotlights_ had some great potential that was never tapped into.
Agree! Slept on for sure
Also they sung this live on the album chart show and I prefer that over the album version. It’s more lively
I adore this song, can't believe it didn't make the top 10. I also adore the fashion and color palette used for this era, probably my fav after _Taller in More Ways_
Color palette is 🍵.
It's great to have you back! I think what you're seeing here isn't 'forced' but I think it's the band (ie Keisha) taking more control and the record company not liking it so not doing their best to promote the band. Around this time, Keisha was interviewed saying 'We've realised that people buy our albums and see us live to hear our voices, not to see us dress in sexy clothes' (I'm paraphrasing, but it was basically that). So what I'm thinking is that the record company didn't like this attitude, and didn't make the effort. When Catfights and Spotlights then flopped, the record company was able to push the girls in the direction they wanted, and we saw all the Roc Nation shite, and Keisha only getting a few lines in Get Sexy etc. It was like they took back control from Keisha.
I despise anything Roc Nation. When Kylie went to Roc Nation for Kiss Me Once, 🚮 🚮🚮🚮🚮. And it’s very disappointing but not surprising to learn that once a Black woman has authority and clout to make changes, somebody always want to humble them. If Keisha had all the right equipment and resources, she could’ve really made Sugababes stayed another 5 years in the game but then again we wouldn’t have the original lineup so sometimes the world works in mysterious ways
Chile...why the makeup team did them like this??? Why??? They're all beauties and they managed to dampen that for each girl. The song itself is one of my faves off the album though, so that's a plus at least. Keisha and Amelle absolutely ate that bridge, you're right. It peaked at #23 on the UK Singles Chart and is one of the group's lowest-charting singles there (which is a shame).
actually criminal. what were those frosted lips or whatever
Baby they say you get what you pay for and clearly they went to the Mall that day and got painted cause ain’t no way that’s somebody’s work. I would’ve went bare faced
Like the Sugababies have said previously, they saw them for their works and the public was over them since the original format was far gone. So sad. 😞
I liked the makeup, it was editorial, they looked disheveled, smokey high fash... they looked gorg.
Did you react to their video "denial"?
Their label at the time didn't promote this album
Like I said, wanted these girls to fail. Sad
Not really. The album had the exact same team who had worked on the promotion of the previous 3 albums, had the same promotional budget as well. A lot of what went wrong was down to Change not selling in great numbers like the previous 3 albums had, 3 flop singles from it and Girls not taking off as expected despite the massive push that single had.
By this time, they were kinda done, Girls Aloud took over as the #1 girl group in the UK, whilst Sugababes were a bit of a laughing stock with the line up changes and flop releases. The label did the best they could with a dying group.
The best track of this album was Side Chick. It gave that early rnb sugababes and Amelle floated on that track.
Heidi's voice on the verse! 🤯 She sounds incredible.. that tone!
This song is genuis but i dont think it fared that well in the charts from what I can remember
When Heidi is in pocket, mama goes the distance! ❤️
This is one of my fave Sugababes songs, it reminds me of Jackson 5 song lol 😂
It's a bop boo! ❤️
I think this song is underrated, it's one of my favourites from them. But yeah the video could have been more impressive. Also, I've not seen this version of the video before. It's slightly different to the one on RUclips, it has some different shots. This looks like a first draft of the video.
Video was definitely rushed with dollar tree budget
I love this song, and honestly the album is pretty great. The video is quite random though
Song a bop! Video could’ve been shot and edited differently and would’ve been 🍵
Sugababes music use to be unique it was sounds or combinations of sounds and genres we hasn't heard before, aswell as having a voice like mutyas, it then became about following the trends and ended up becoming a bit more generic and lost its individualism, this era was following the trend of songs by ppl like Amy Winehouse, Duffy etc but the songs weren't as good.
Facts
Think about it like this..sugababes without mutya is like Destiny's child without Beyonce
I would say Kelly. Keisha is Mrs Carter 🤣
Amelle sounded at her best during the Catfights and Spotlights era and was their best harmonies for 3.0.
This video didn't work at all!
If it's true Keisha was the vocal arranger for this era then Keisha need every bit of the pay cause she made Amelle and Heidi of them sound near perfect in the studio LOL
Anyone can sound good in the studio. Live is another matter.
Keisha was the only actual singer in 3.0.
The video doesn’t work because they aren’t sex symbols. This video tries to paint them as vixens, glamorous, sexy, sassy. But that’s not them. So there’s a disconnect between what’s presented and what’s known. Yes they’re very pretty ladies, but none of them are overly like this video suggests, woman really in control.
Well “Push the Button” and “In the Middle” they definitely were fitting the video vixen mantra but this was just cheap and rushed. Even them wigs/extensions were cheap 😂😂😭😭😭
@@Werdnasings I alway think the dynamic goes from edgy sassy to girl pretty without Mutya. And that’s no shade. Yea PTB and ITM are vixen, but edgy. Not trying to be a walking vogue cover. Totally agree, the vid is bad. I always thought something was off with the make up, and you highlighted them damm Smokey eyes 😂
On this specific video, I think the girls look amazing, especially Keisha, but I don't love the video.
Hair body and wardrobe yes, that make up was a…choice.
Not my favourite song ... I wouldn't have picked for a single. Their makeup wasn't great. The girls didn't look too happy in the video either.
