- This set of Generation 1 Pokémon figurines made by Hasbro was released in the year 2000. Sold at KB Toys for $129.99 in stores, the set also includes a special bonus of Togepi as a 152nd figure. Each Pokémon figure measures roughly 1 inch in size, and they are all displayed in a frame that protects from harm and dust. Though there is some discolouration to several of the toys, I believe this set is an excellent addition to any Nintendo or Pokémon fan's room.

Very nice collection indeed. I have some of those figurines but I'm having trouble locating Venusaur, Charmeleon and Charizard. I will try to get this one day. Also I know I this will be obvious but my favorite gen 1 pokemon is Charizard but I love Venusaur, Blastoise and a few more.

Blaize Well, for the most part, that's true. However there are some cool Pokemon that came out in later generations, such as: Swampert, Girafarig, Talonflame, Braviary, & Victini.
Not to mention they came up with new abilities, items, trainers, legends & concepts.
+InklingSethO I feel bad for non genwunners, they're too young to experience the nostalgia and originality that was generation 1.
I got this for Christmas in 1999 and still have it to this day.

I remember seeing this only once in a KB Toys when I was a kid, and I wanted it SO bad. I have some of the "mini" Tomy figures and the mini Hasbro figures (like the ones in this set, I remember you could buy them in blind-bags too), but I've always focused ton the normal sized Tomy figures. More of a personal preference. Awesome find Lithium.

For those that are saying that the discoloured figures are shiny, I might have to disagree. Shiny Pokemon weren't implemented and did not exist in the first gen. For a set that came out during the first generation of Pokemon I don't think they are shiny. They most likely have started to lose their colours and started to discoloured. Correct me if I'm wrong though. The set is really cool though.

+Amiibo TLP yes there are shiny Pokemon but the squritle and vaporeon are still coloured wrong, squritle shell only is meant to be green and vaporeon is purple with no tail colour difference. I did think they were shiny figures but a quick Google search proved me wrong.

generation 1 has 1 shiny,in episode 1 ash saw a ho oh but it wasn't just a normal ho oh.It was a shiny ho oh.it has sparkles on it and colored orange and white.

Ahh yes, Tomy's super-mini Pokémon figures. I still have quite a few of them.
My dad took me to a Walmart when I was a kid and this was on the shelf. I decided that I didn't want it. Still in my top 5 regrets of my life.
I have this set, and it was "kept in the dark" most of their lives. My colors are vibrant and correct. I think his was in the sun and the plastic faded.
This is so great I've been half assed looking for these for my little sister i used to have pretty much all of these but either worn down or sold in garage sale. This was so great to see thank you
When I was 8ish I was able to name all of them and how they evolved. It was basically my life at that time haha. I had a evolving deck kind of game and used to play it all the time! I had pokemon snap and pokemon stadium, I was missing pokemon stadium 2 but my friend had it haha. Man I miss my childhood...

I don't understand the disappointment in the discolorations. I believe that it not only makes the set unique, but it also adds to the overall value of the set. Also, the gray bases for some of the figures exist solely for use of the figures with thin limbs. If you look at some of the figures that you pointed out, for example, Ponyta and Alakazam, you will notice that they have very thin limbs. The creators of these figures realized that the main buyers of their product would be young children who would of course be much more "active" in using them. Yes, it does take away from the attraction of the figures themselves, but the durability of the figures was most likely one of the top priorities at the time.
Overall, I think that you purchased a very nice set, at a very reasonable price. Congratulations!

Having owned the majority of these original figures, a lot of the figurines in your set look fake and poorly molded.

I have this set, which I am selling, and the colors are vibrant and not faded. I really think his is an original but it was kept in the sunlight so some of the figurines are faded.

Favorite Gen 1 Pokemon is Vileplume, hands down.
:) Nice to see someone liking a very different Pokemon for once. Usually people go for Mewtwo or Blastoise or something tough like that... My favorite is Meowth for reasons.

It looks like it's the mini Pokemons that came in blind bags (I still have some), I remember that the minis with thinner legs had the gray bases because they where made of a rubbery plastic and wouldn't be able to stand without them.

You can also buy unofficial ones for like 3$ for 24 pokemon. Just look for mini pokemon figurines on ebay or wish and you'll be able to find some c: I have always bought those ones, and a lot of them are really similar to the ones that are shown in this video and I bought them for cheap...But they probs aren't official but I don't really care haha c:

BlueKai BlueKai good thing my mom bought me two back when it came out back in the day. They go for quite a pretty penny. I'll probably never sell them though as I do enjoy them and have one on my wall.
The vaporeon figure looks shiny because a shiny vaporeon is pink. I think discolored things or manufacturer problems are rarer than regular and usually cost a lot more for some reason like the amiibos that are upside down or broken in the box. Cool collectors case though!

Oh my god we had these but they weren't in the display, I remember we had a big zip lock bag with all of them in it and I used to just sit and look at them all day.
I remember seeing this in a KB Toys when I was a kid and Pokemon was in its prime. In fact I was already familiar with these figures before I saw it when I bought two blind bags with a few of these same figures. The only ones I remember having though is Blastoise (which was my favourite of the batch) and beedrill. I wanted to find and collect more but didn't ever find any afterwards ecxept when I saw that set at KB Toys which was $100 at the time and wouldn"t dare convince my parents to buy it. My dad was even shocked when I pointed it to him and then noticed the price tag.
The price is expensive, and I wonder if the original price was even higher than $130
I got 80/151 my first time, and I have one of those too! I've had it since I was little and fortunately are still in good condition but without the cardboard piece :(. That discoloration has always been with it even new they came that way. I thought it was weird too that Squirtle and Vaporeon looked greenish even with other blue figures looking, well, blue. Why Hasbro, it was almost perfect.
It's in really well condition to me because the fact that they are from the year 2000 is tremendous.

+Brandon Lee No, the Electrode that's so expensive is the actual Tomy figure. When having a close look at this collectors case, you can see that these are not the same figures. They have notable differences, seem to be smaller and some of them look completely different, for example Raichu or Bellsprout. So the worth of these figures on their own would not be the same as the actual Tomy figures.
+Anna Toor You're right, I thought the same but the set looked very legit. At least Staryu and Starmie are totally different than the Tomy ones.

Yeah, a lot of them are different. However, this set _is_ actually legit. It is by Tomy/Hasbro, so I guess they just made other figures for this set because it wouldn't have made sense for them to make exactly the same figures. Maybe they wouldn't have been able to sell the actual figures that well afterwards, and probably, it minimized the costs for the production on their side as well.

From what it looks like, these figures are not the same as the usual Tomy figures, but they appear to be smaller. Maybe they are the pencil topper figures. At least some of them look distinctly different from the Tomy figures, such as Raichu and Bellsprout. What's strange is that the checklist/poster depicts the Tomy figures while the actual figures in the case seem like lesser quality representations of the actual figures.

I'm dying to get my hands on one. I made a table too game with dice and a checker board.

Attack
Defense
Range
Moves.
And numbers ranging for the stats. They love it I love it I have about 15 different Pokemon wrote up with their stats and it's balanced and fun! I wish I had all my old ones from back in the day. I love seeing my kids love Pokemon though!
I have a lot of those figures loose and its really cool to see them all together like this :) The colouring on some of mine are really bad too haha. But awesome video!!

my 'old' best friend has the case and i have some of the figures somewhere in my 10000s of pokemon things ^^ Heck I'm 18 and still own the same magazines, cards, figures and cartridges etc. since red and blues release (in the uk) and I'd never sell it though xS love it toooo much...

You should take it apart and bring out each pokemon for us to look at.. And cute little spot for Tocapi, it really isn't a Gen 1 Pokemon, but it was however, in many episodes of season 1 of Pokemon.

Of all these ive seen, the squrtle and vaporeon are miscolored, and my cousin gave me the single charmander of this set, and its a lot darker than the one in yours.

My altime favourite is pretty typical. It's Jolteon haha. The reason mainly being the nostalgia I have for the artwork on the Jungle set Jolteon card. I don't know what it is about it but it's always been my favourite card ever since I was a kid back in the late 90's early 2000's.
Actually, the greenish (looks aqua to me) Squirtle is more accurate than that deep blue one on the chart.
I bought 144 figures on ebay for $25 and I was so disappointed when they came in. They didn't have much effort put into them, some parts aren't painted, facial features are far from accurate, and a lot of the coloring is wrong. I wish I knew this existed before I bought those. I'd happily throw the extra $155 for something as glorious as this, lol.
And from Gen 1, my favorite pokemon is Mew.
Not all of them look great either, but as a set it looks awesome

I know you like the cheaper figures, but the D-Arts pokemon figures are really worth a look. They have great articulation and their paint app and sculpt quality are second to none.
you could always perfect your collection by buying the properly painted ones and swapping out the discolored ones

clefairy and clefable are white and zubat and golbat are very dark coloured but it still looks really cool and I want it too
Clefairy and Clefable look kind of white too instead of a light pink color. Still awesome though!
