I can say that this was a moment to remember because I was one of the Jedi fighting Ray Park. I'm Anthony Foister (Tanthos Jorlac-Founder of The Jedi Assembly. I'm the Bald Jedi in the light tan Jedi costume to Ray's left. It was quite an honor to cross swords with Ray. He even signed my saber afterwards. What a class act! Any of us would have loved to mock dual with one of the most awesome characters Star Wars offered. Darth Maul himself. And get it on video too?? Love the movies, love the concept, May the force be with you all

there is an episode of the graham norton show where he took a fans cell phone and did famous line from taken as her voice mail box greeting. it was a really hilarious episode.
Just watch the dvd extras and the behind the scenes footage of the staged fights for the movies if you would like to know how they designed the fights and what type of fill ins used for the sabers. A picture is worth a thousand words. Very interesting and fun stuff to watch.
@xrustynailsx that has to be practiced and repeated. If you were watching, they were getting faster every time and even then they made mistakes. Doing a true saber duel is an artform that 2 fans and a trained martial artist can do on the fly. So for their attempt at trying to recreate the duel, I was impressed with how Ray was able to carry them and make them look good.
How awesome would it be to fight Darth Maul. I would pay a movie ticket just to see a 15 minute film of Ray Park, as Dart Maul, fight an entire legion of jedi nerds and at the end he fights George Lucas. That would be awesome and hopefully I gave someone an idea.
well dressing up and bringing lightsabers got them the opportunity to duel against the actor who played Darth Maul, who i think is one of the coolest villians ive seen in movies. so maybe its less dorky and more smart ^^

I would not agree that darth maul was a deep character; he never had the chance to become one. He was in that movie solely as a combative antagonist and vehicle for Qui-Gon's death. However, that is not to say that he did not have enormous potential for development and was totally badass to boot. also, Ray Park is an incredibly talented master of the staff. I doubt that either of those two have ever had any kind of weapons exp other than stage combat, so of course he'll obliterate them!
dude, that's so cool that ray park is a good guy. i've met him before, and he told my friends and i that he gets a kick out of the convention circuit. really fun guy to chat it up with. darth maul is and was the only good thing out of that god awful waste of a fucking motion picture, the phantom menace.

I actually met him, shook his hand, and had a brief discussion with him less than a year ago at the Syracuse Heroes Expo.
I always says that DART MAUL was the best of THE PHANTOM MENACE and the lightsaber duel of that movie was one of the best in the STAR WARS saga!!!!

Being a star wars nerd is the ultimate of star wars fandom. If you aren't a nerd you aren't as deeply into the whole star wars experience.
After seeing him at Star Wars Celebration V, I realize that this guy may be the coolest Australian ever.

Yup. But sometimes in the training they use thin sticks, like bamboo, but softer and lighter to get used to the feeling, if you get what i mean.
