Watched this last night and couldn't understand how, out of all my 4k discs, that those outdoor scenes were so bright. Was gonna mess with my settings but didn't bother as I assumed it was the disc. Thanks for confirming it 👍 There was one scene where the white boat just blended into the overly bright white skyline. How they watched that back and let it pass I have no idea.

i got this on 4k now and it looks good on 4k and its stunning too and can't wait for The Meg 2 The Trench and its coming out next year in August 4, 2023 and can't wait for that one
Shane you were spot on your review about the washed out scenes. At times all you see is white. I didn’t see it in the theater so is this just the transfer or what?
Saw this today and was dissapointed with the transfer. The bright daylight scenes are just overblown and is unwatchable if you set the picture settings on standard mode. Only after adjusting it to cinema mode does the brightness mellows down and the lost details are seen. I wonder if this has something to do with bad hdr representation on this disc. I did not see it in DV as my projector is not capable to produve it in dolby vision. And the 4k blu ray defaults to 24 frames just like 2001 a space audyssey and even if the settings fir the display is at 60 frames per second. Does anyone else notice this?
@@therealshanelee i did that but it defaults back to 24 frames per sec. I am using a benq 4k projector that outputs everything at 60 frames per sec but for this and 2001 is defaults to 24 hz. Also did you feel that the bright scenes were way to overblown and bright if watched in standard mode ?
Let me clarify which was white. In many scenes either the sky was washed out or the ocean was. You would think they would have seen it in the first cut and corrected it.
@@ianpeck2719 download a 1080p one that is floating about and use dvdfab UHD creator it will make you a BD25 that you can then use mkvtoolnix to create a 4k mkv that you can play through the usb slot on your 4k tv. You need a good graphics card gtx1060 or above and dvdfab x64 version all available free if you know where to look. Obviously without a good pc you are fucked

Spoiler! shark gets killed after eating humans but would rather have it eating jason statham then seeing the shark swimming off into the sunset. A huge mega PASS on this 4k can keep it.
I don’t like HDR I’ve seen it on my dad’s LG Oled and to my eyes it makes the picture look too hot and unnatural, think I will more than likely pick this up on 1080p Blu Ray ... thanks for the review 👍🏻
It's got nothing to do with your Dad's TV. HDR is bloody awesome! Your Dad needs to Calabrate his TV or pay a professional to do it. The 2 of you are missing out on a great viewing experience! Especially on a Oled TV!

I have this pre-ordered and will be picking up the steelbook tomorrow. Wife and I loved it in theaters.
I believe every movie should be crisp & clean end of story! Thats why we invest so much money in our equipment. Just my opinion.

I thought it was my TV that made the daytime background too bright but I'm glad to know it was the film itself

Wreck it Ralph 4k has the most use in Dolby Atmos track. A lot of use of the over head speaker.

Shane did you see this in Dolby Cinema it was the Best Experience I’ve ever had in the Atmos Speakers After Justice League In 2017
You should've brought up the Dolby Vision, if you were able to test it. Colors come out much better, especially whites and blacks.

Film is typically shot at 24 FPS. You maybe be able to set your output on your player to 60. You’ll have to check on that one.

That's just your tv, try calibrating it correctly.

It's clearly not calibrated correctly then. Change the settings and you'll see why hdr makes a huge difference

If you're doin 4k movie reviews u need to state if it is real 4k or fake 4k like upscaled. It's important to consumers.
He said 2K DI, so it's upscaled. If he says 4K DI, it's true 4K.
