Ladder I think would make for a better use of space. And Hey the pellets are not treated timber here in New Zealand. So if so maybe put a moisture barrier down under your floor. Ie plastic. This will help the Pellet Timber to last a bit longer. Maybe even paint the paint the underside with some sealer or primer 😊
Great vlog Dustin. Your enthusiasm is catching. Thank you so much for sharing. Love that Amber wants your attention. Take care and stay safe. Look forward to seeing your next video. ATB to you and Amber.
A ladder will take up less space, and fit the design better. I, personally, would consider a shelf system that would double as a ladder or a ladder attached to one of the poles. But I'm a little strange. Stairs would be nicer and safer but will take up a lot more space and lumber. I also might consider using some of the previously removed poles in the construction of a ladder! Geeat vid. Another horse fact that not a lot of people truly understand: horses can't open their mouths, but when their teeth meet, the muscles relax and their mouths fall open.
It depends what's in the mezzanine and what it's used for. You certainly wouldn't want to carry anything up and down a ladder. If it's just like a loft for sleeping a ladder would be good. Otherwise a staircase.
Great video! The straw will attract rodents to make their own homes. Besides setting out poison, which I know you don't want to do, I don't know what would deter them from entering in the fall and winter. We had some success with mothballs placed near the bales, but the smell will knock you out. I would use the plank wood to make a circular staircase around the center pole. But you are doing a great job on reconstruction!
The way to get to the mezzanine may depend on how often you move heavy or bulky items up and down. A library ladder made from plank wood can be shifted as needed to be out of the way (or always in the way.) BY THE WAY: straw bales biodegrade if placed on the ground.
Thanks James. I think I need to make a staircase so that amber can get upstairs. As for the bales...they will be raised off the ground, to avoid moisture. Thanks for commenting 🙂
@@BUSHCRAFTTOOLS You 'Da Man!' This will be a fine series. BY THE WAY: My son's father-in-law, famous for his lack of roping skills, herds his cattle using pickup trucks and he does not own a single horse!
Hi I understand why you're not using power tools but if you got yourself a solar powered generator you could get whatever powerful you need and you've got free energy to use it just a suggestion and to be help you get through this a lot faster because it's taking a long time to stop through stuff or drill through stuff
Have you ever been on board a naval ship or like a submarine they have these little narrow staircases that are very steep and have rope hand rails I would think that would probably be the best thing for the limited amount of space that you have in your little bungalow there that you're building or refurbishing one that would give you handles to hold onto made out of a sturdy rope and it's better than a ladder because that way at least if you have to hold something to bring it up you have your arms free to kind of do the stairs just to suggest Cindy you don't have to use it but I think it would be best in if you can make it foldable foldable so that you can fold it up into the floor above and you have the headspace back So it's probably gonna be something at an 80 degree angle from the floor and you put it on hinges strong hinges or spring system so they can open and close it when you need it very easily and it's just into the ceiling above granted if you're up there you're gonna have the latter part of it you know in your floor so you have to be careful if you don't trip on there or something like that you might want you for the small railing around it on the second floor But I think that would work good for you It's kind of like have you ever seen the old attic two part ladders like that they have a steel spring and they fold down and then they lock into place on the floor I used to have one of my old attic when I was little kid and they were really good they were really strong I know they didn't fold up on you when you were inside yeah I didn't automatically pull up I mean you could sit a cord up so that you could pull it up behind you and lock it in place. if you could find one of those old pieces of the hidden ladder I think it would be really good for you because they do exist usually use for addicts but I think that would work out best for you because you still get the headspace on the first floor
Yup, I agree with ArielleViking...Staircase (climbing up a ladder when you're older or, had a little too much to drink is not easy and a bit "risky" ) ;) I sure wish I had the physical man-power to do what you're doin' (all the guys I know are l-a-z-y and wimps...where oh where have the real men gone???)
This is such a great project. So many people now are interested in tiny houses.
I think so too
Tiny homes are on wheels or trailer-able to avoid building codes and land improvement taxes.
Hi Dustin. Awesome build!! Really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. You have a great start!! Thanks for bringing us along!!😊😊😊
Thanks 👍

I believe this is the best channel on RUclips.. great stuff as usual dude 😎
Wow, thanks!
I think a staircase to the mezzanine floor be cool!

Thanks for filming Dustin. 😁👍🏼
No problem 👍
Have you ever heard of "witches stairs"? Might be fun and nice to use
Sky lights , but I also think a sustainable way of lighting at night would be neat maybe some old parafin lamps
Good idea 💡

Put a spiral staircase that would look awesome

🇩🇰🏴 Mange Tak for et godt program, Dustin.. Du er en ægte Viking 🍻🙏👍
Mange tak 🇩🇰
Ladders save floor space and are easier to build but are more difficult and precarious to ascend. Your priorities make the choice.
Build and cook Dustin.

Hello Buddy , why don't you build a spiral staircase being that it's a kinda of round house . Good luck with your project.
Great idea....I'm just worried it will take up too much room
It's not your property. I wouldn't worry too much about ancillary items. Straight ladder... uses much less floor space

Right, be honest, where did your scarf up green chiles? Hang on, were those some type of Eyetie varietal?
Staircase for sure… Lolz, now I see you found palletwood. Love the stove. Hmmm, how bout a hot tub using an old bath or drinking trough? 👍🏻
Such a great idea. Thanks arielle
He grabbed it from Mike's pile...lol
Very nice
Thanks
Dude, trust me and take my word, you do NOT want to mess with a horse's bite. Your finger would be nothing...
I’m glad you said it! Yeesh no bueno!

Beautiful sweet Amber! You need a staircase so she can climb it too!
I think so too!
That’s some sweet looking windows…. Hmmm, free floorboards, palletwood?
What’s the bet that we’ll see you on that horse by the end of this series?
😄
Very cool, great start to the weekend with this video mate! 🤙
Hope you enjoyed it!
good build like the way you use all reusing old timber and Doing nice build keep up the cool builds on channel
Thanks
