The sign of a well done video is not keeping track of the time especially when it’s about a subject I don’t usually watch videos of. Very informative and no nonsense. Thanks.
Just discovered this channel, and it's a joy seeing all these magnificent and huge fish being taken car in such an incredible and dedicated way. Please keep up the awesome work guys!
Thank you Josh for education everyone on these predatory fish that need to stay in the wild. God bless you and your family for all you do for these fish!!
Josh what a great video you absolutely kicked this one out of the park. You my friend are getting better and better on every video you're doing. Keep up the great work 👍. Love you guy's like family, how is your mom doing today ❤, continuing to pray for her and all of you guy's.
Alligator Gars, can live in both fresh water up the Mississippi and live in salt water in the gulf of Mexico and can travel as far north as Cape Cod. Fish that can transition between salt and fresh water and back again are known as euryhaline fish.
Funny story, when I was 12ish after watching Jaws 1, 2 & 3 I was dared to jump in the lake (northwest Ontario) & was attacked by a 4' Northern Pike lol
These Gars have been known to battle Alligators. I have heard of them growing to nine feet, rather than twelve, but I am sure some do get that big. They are still fascinating fish, but should never be kept by beginners or in Aquarium smaller than 125 gallons. I love watching all the fish you have rescued. Thanks for sharing. My thoughts and prayers are with Tracy🙏🙄❤️
I had a redtail swallow an alligator gar. The catfish was about 32" and the gar was 15". Never thought it was possible! Redtails will literally put anything in their mouth. And they're quite vocal when pulled out of the water sometimes sounding like a sea lion barking! Large iridescents do too.
Bro any fish that has a tail like them sharks are built for nothing but speed. They are mad powerful fish and can hit hard enough to kill most fish on impact.
The Piraiba- Catfish is one of the biggest Freshwater-Species of Fish and able to swallow a Human if they reached their Maximum-Lenght of 3 meters or more...
Hey Josh! What about Big Bill!? I’ve personally been to Antonio’s and seen Bill and his fish first hand! Some of his Oscars I brought him as well. He has some of the biggest Oscars I’ve seen in person. Id love to see an update on Big Bill! Great video! Keep up the great work!
I’d love to see a quick underwater video of Bill in the pond in one of your videos soon! I remember petting Bill in Antonio’s pond years back and he would come straight to the surface to be pet, such an awesome, personable fish!Antonio and Bill are the reason I got into monster fish. Of all the fish y’all have he’s definitely my personal favorite! In the next few months I plan to bring y’all 2 of monster cats that are outgrowing they’re winter housing, during the summer they live in my 4,000gal koi pond here in NC. By this fall they’ll be pushing 44”+ each. Ive had one about 3 years with a small gap in between. But it’s gonna be time for a larger home for them very soon. One is a TSN x Achara Catfish that is 39”, and the other is a 42” Ripsaw. The Hybrid I raised from 1” to 13”, rehomed him when I moved out of state, ended up getting him back and having him shipped down 6 months later due to him eating my ex’s alligator gar. He was 22” at that time, a year later he has exploded in growth and when I measured him in November he was 39” long. The Ripsaw someone actually dumped in my pond without me knowing, I’m not sure how long he was in there before I noticed him, as he rarely is seen. I found him under a ledge cleaning the pond this past summer. Amazing such a large fish can go unseen for who knows how long. But regardless, I think Ohio Fish Rescue will be the perfect forever home for these fish if you all would like them. We have a beautiful Platinum Butterfly that is over 15 years old! I haven’t measured her but she’s easily 27” long not including her giant long tail! Her and a male normal colored common carp with butterfly koi fins have bred in my pond 2 or 3 times this past year! They were local rescues as well from a local drainage ditch on the side of my road after the hurricane last year. I’d love to donate them to the rescue as well if Tracy would like to add them to her wonderful collection!
loved the video, absolutely gorgeous fish😍. I dont own fish anymore but i used to have alot, amongst which were 4 catfishes that a store sold me and they claimed they were wild caught and they didnt know what they were, they then went on to say they could not really house them anymore so i got them fairly cheap, one turned out a bit smaller than the other 3 eventually and had to be held separate, they were insane eaters and fun watching em gobble food pellets, but they were quite fun, theyd follow my every move if i was walking near the tank as well as my fingers if they were moving along the glass, but something i loved most about em was that if i put my hand in the tank theyd come up to it and go belly up for a “bellyrub”. They grew super fast but i had a nice tank setup for em so that was ok, they were amaZing fish though, I loved all my fish but those were possibly my favorites, along with a black molly female i had that grew to almost double size that was nuts too, I really miss the hobby so so much.
oh yeah one time dad caught a pike while fishing and he thought hed play a joke on me by testing when i would spot it being in there with my cats, needless to say i wasnt all that pleased with the fish just being dumped in there from him catching it from a river, but most sad thing was that the pike was a tiny bit smaller than the cats and fell victim to them before i got up and saw the shenanigans, so by the time i was feeding my tanks the pike was reduced to a head, i immediately took that out ofcourse and put the tank in quarantine but it was alright.
When he said “funny story” I thought he was going to say the fish was attacking the glass or something, not “I got brutally attacked by an alligator gar.
very interesting Josh! good video but now I have a question..are All Knife fish blind and as dangerous as #4? I may be wrong but isn't there another knife fish in a different aquarium too? I hope you do more videos like this just telling about more fish and interesting things about them! Stay safe sending prayers for Tracey.
I love this video, just like your other videos, there all awesome! I hope to get into the hobby soon. Its also my sisters birthday today! The way the Aba Aba Knife fish swims is just so beautiful and awesome
I think you're confusing aggression with predatory behavior. Aggression is out of dominance or just a pure instinct to kill. Predation is a strong desire to eat.
i once had a red claw crab who was a total git! and a demonic dwarf rainbow fish who just tired to muller everything in the tank even the rest of its shoal!
I have 2 Armatus about 7-9in in a tank with 2 tiger pikes about 10in and a tarpon about 15-16in they seem to get along fine will the armatus go after the tarpon as they get bigger??
Years ago I was told that the Congo Puffer would just cut other fish in half..or take a finger off its owner. Never wanted one hearing that. They look like Pit Bulls too.
If you put tight netting over the pool...Dont Gars jump also? I spent some time covering the 240 openings today.Added Giant Danio's. Oh,they will jump no matter how much room they have. So,have jumping fish on my mind.
@@ohio-fish-rescue Oh,they do. Just that like all other leaping fish..they have miles of water around them-lol. Put those little hatchet fish in an open aquarium and they will all end up on the ground sooner and not much later. But,they have lived millenia in the wild. If you ever did need to cover? Maybe those portable chain link fences around the pool?..6' tall would stop most fish. Paint them green or something. You could leave enough room to walk inside all around the pool..and room for fish to flop back into the pool. Just an idea. I hate when I lose fish to accidents. Like stuck behind a rock...desease is one thing..you know?
Yes and no. They are both fishes, that's all. Let me explain. The groupe of fishes that gars are members of separated from the groupe of fishes that contains pikes (and most other fish species) +/- 300 millions years ago. To give you an evolution time scale, Mammals separated from reptiles also +/- 300 millions years ago. Gars and pikes are both fishes but they are as related to each other as you are related to a lizard. Hope that answer your question!
I have a 2 inch firemouth that constantly displays and chases my 6 inch red shoulder sevrum it is the most ridiculous thing I've seen out of all the fish I've ever had

All we can do is strive to be better 💪. Mom is doing much better at the new place. Update every Friday on the live stream
I love these kinds of videos! I also love that your tell us stuff based on YOUR experience... not common fish lore!
The way the black Diamond rays all bunched up together near you was adorable! They seemed really happy to see you! (Or hungry)
Well you answered the question I wanted to ask of have you ever been bitten. Glad you didn't lose your foot! lol Awesome video
awsome show!!!!! very informative!
Meanwhile, your puffer is still the cutest, goofiest fish in the whole place.
Good stuff josh. Love the knowledge/information and the hilarious stories. Keep it up

Had my toes nibbled on by some pike before haha. Only freshwater fish I've had try and attack me and open water was a muskie. Pretty shady haha
The Ava Ava is Jack’s favorite....he really is gorgeous Josh! It would be amazing to see one 4 feet long holy smokes....great update dude!
Awesome video Josh. This was really informational. I remember when the paroon shark ate the leperanus 🙂
You’re so informative Josh..love all your excellent Videos..greetings from Liverpool uk🇬🇧
That Aba Aba knife is really cool
Well done Mr. Josh. Like your top five and the stories to go with it. You guys keep up the great work. God Bless!
This video is AWESOME. You should do a top 5 oldest fish or most expensive at the rescue.
I like that
I been looking all morning for this to drop i missed it for breakfast but its good for lunch
I like how you did it from 1 to 5....luv the fishes!!
Great video guys big love to tracy hope shes doing well stay safe as always 😁😁😁

Hi everyone I'm new here. 🥰😆 I was stunned and amazed of how Ohio Fish Rescue handle different kinds of fishes 😱🤯
I had a redtail swallow an alligator gar. The catfish was about 32" and the gar was 15". Never thought it was possible! Redtails will literally put anything in their mouth. And they're quite vocal when pulled out of the water sometimes sounding like a sea lion barking! Large iridescents do too.
Just now watching this...Love the Vid all together Josh...Keep me informed on what not to get..🤔🤔🤣🤣🤘🤘♥️🐟💯
That was super interesting, thanks! I had to pause the video and read the wiki for each fish XD
those silver fish with pink fins are stunning
I agree with you on the Crystal Eyed Catfish. I had one and had to put him in his own tank.
my personal Top 5 : Parachromis Dovii Cichlid , serrasalmus Elongatus (piranha) , Hydrolycus scomberoides ( vampire tetra fish) , Hoplias Malabricus ( wolf fish) and Hydrocinus Goliath ( Goliath Tiger Fish)
Very educational
Pittsburgh!!! He's looking great!
Great talk, thank you, top water puppies please? Jayne
The most aggressive fish I've owned were Dovii, Crystal Eyed Catfish, Wolfish, Red Snakehead and the Golden Dorado.
What about the giant snakehead? Do you consider them to be aggressive compared to the other fish you keep?
The guppy should have been on the list🤣, great video as always
I remember you siliconed that black devil catfish. It made so much sense that I wouldn't have thought of it. Lol.
Improvise. Overcome, Adapt, and stay fishy
Bro any fish that has a tail like them sharks are built for nothing but speed. They are mad powerful fish and can hit hard enough to kill most fish on impact.
Great video Josh...
Still sending prayers 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow josh... quiet an interesting video... these guys are really harmful at times yet so sweet 🐠 💙 enjoyed watching the video! Let's stay fishy 😎
I love Pittsburgh and Betty ❤
Having aggressive fish that need huge tanks all to themselves must take a toll on the rescue. Can't have too many of those.

Great Video Josh! 👍
Interesting video 👍🏼 only managed to predict two correctly , the ababa and parroon shark !!

I've only had experience with a 18" Alligator Gar and I found it to be very passive.
I enjoyed this video. Very informative tyvm
Awesome video Josh! What's your most aggressive cichlid you've kept?
I would luv to see y’all feed the fish 🐠
Number 4 his fine remind me of a Spanish dancer who has a flowing gown looks when they spin. So beautiful !!
We need more of these. 👍
Love the video
Ii also watch River Monster. They can be so dangerous. So like I always say. Play safe have fun.
Rivermonsters is fake
Brutally attacked lol just a love bite 😂
Can’t wait till they get huge I remember all those videos
Nothing quite compares to an aba aba.. absolutely stunning animal, deadly beauty...
“Fun story, I got brutally attacked by an alligator gar”😂
When he said “funny story” I thought he was going to say the fish was attacking the glass or something, not “I got brutally attacked by an alligator gar.
One of my cousins shovel nose catfish is in there

Happy birthday
@@ohio-fish-rescue Thank you!
ya... about the big eyez.
my 10in vampire tetra(payara) bit one of the eyes of one of my oscars. But thanks for telling me now.
Lord I'm glad you're ok.
I thought Betty Gangster would be on the list. She makes one phone call and you'll be swimming with the fishies.
🤣🤣🤣
Great video. That aba aba knife needs a bigger tank though!
Do you still have the big goldish Paima? I'm always thinking its going to go airborne in the open pool.
I think you're confusing aggression with predatory behavior. Aggression is out of dominance or just a pure instinct to kill. Predation is a strong desire to eat.

What about the Goonch-Catfish?
What’s a good link and sources that I can reference to build a big tank down my basement.
I have 2 Armatus about 7-9in in a tank with 2 tiger pikes about 10in and a tarpon about 15-16in they seem to get along fine will the armatus go after the tarpon as they get bigger??
Pics? Video?
I'm like number 20,000!
Aggressive fish and killer fish and big eaters are two different segments. Mostly cichlids are the most aggressive, mean and active all the times.
I enjoyed that, do more educational videos :)
What about Golden Dorado or Goliath Tigerfish and Giant Snakeheads?
Years ago I was told that the Congo Puffer would just cut other fish in half..or take a finger off its owner. Never wanted one hearing that. They look like Pit Bulls too.
Hi Josh!! How many species of catfish you own?... including pelvis which is also a species of catfish😊

Awesome vid, now do feeding vid of the aggressive ones😎👍
25 years in the hobby started with fresh water. Garr the only fish that I’ve had that has bit me. Drew blood.
My flowerhorns go for me all the time both drawn blood

Fun fact that alligator gar called pike in russian
What is the silver catfish at 15:38 I have one and no idea what it is and I need to know
I'm not sure what it is but if he keeps it on that tank you better watch out lol I imagine it's going to get pretty big.
I think you are asking about a piraiba catfish, Josh shows it as a runner up meanie at about 19:10 .
u mean the 4 line pictus catfish

What are the fish with the silver scales, pink fins, that kind of look like salmon in the 4,400?
Kaiser Frost Phoenix barbs

Electro Reception, I learned that from Wild Kratts
I remember the video I cant believe its the same catfish its insane
