You may not realise this yet, but there are many, MANY of your subscribers that would absolutely love to watch an hour of you working every single dot from start to finish!
I heard you say in your video that you have moved from healthcare to full time artist and that your art supports your mental health. As the administrator of a long-term care facility I have seen a lot of stress on colleagues (and felt it myself). Big hugs. 🤍 I think your artwork is healing for all of us! Thanks for sharing your process with us so that we can learn too.
Yes, I started in healthcare when I was 18 yrs in the emergency dept (health records/coding), and then worked as an RN/educator for years. It was a wonderful profession but very high stress, and I had a young family to support during the pandemic... Art became my outlet and true passion. I was grateful I had the support to stay at home and focus on my art and family as so many others don't have that choice. Long term care is so tough. And as the admin you are the centre of it all! thanks for all you do and hope you can take the mental health breaks you need too. thanks for this nice message.
I think your process and art is beautiful but honestly, the best compliment I could give you is unique and expressive. Thank you for sharing your talent with such obvious joy! P.S. I’m watching this before bedtime! (Previous comment).
I love your explanations and love of art. I like the spontaneous brush work with practised mark making. I agree about trying new ways of working and finding inspiration in other artists, or imagery from anything in the environment. I have also come across Helen Wells. 😊
I just love Helen. She is so authentic and fun and inspiring. I thought of her when I did my first few videos as she has an infectious energy that comes across to the viewer! :)
I’ve only just discovered your channel and what a revelation it is! Your use of colour and pattern is exactly how I’d like to do it. I will try harder in my own work from now on. Beautiful work. ❤
Your art deck is going to be amazing! I love Quiet as the cover/backing and the gold edging on the cards is perfect. I am very excited for them to be available! 💗 And this is another great video. I love all the different sources of inspiration you have been highlighting in your videos and I am finding inspiration in my own home that I had never considered before. I continue to learn so much from watching you create. Thank you!!
Kleenex boxes, yeah someone else finds inspiration from. I have saved a few just for the patterns or palettes. I am going to retrieve my Neocolors from the bottom of my drawer and give them a go now that you showed a way to use them. Thanks!
Loving yr color palettes, ideas, and genuine joyful delivery. Outstanding. ii'm playing w/distress ink pads, Faber castel brush pens and pencils, practicing making marks ii love... ii don't think ii really thought abt making marks ii love before. It may possibly transform my entire artistic outlook. Zentangle is my jam, more like zia's, zentangle inspired art vs traditional bl & wh ink on fabriano paper... Ty for helping me use what ii have in new ways.
Most fabulous wonderful I love your energy and your competition it's so refreshing and I hope you are cards go great when they are published let us know I'll be one of the first to buy one set
Can we "pre-buy" your Oracle cards and where?? They are perfect-precious.. and I am so moved by your grit and determination that I have begun painting again after 50 years of holding back. So thank you for freeing me.. thank you from my joyous heart.
Yes, inspiration is really all around us if we let it in. Historically, I just bought kleenex/tissue because it's affordable but now I'm leaning towards patterns and colours I like:) haha... thanks for watching and sharing.
iove your stye simpe beautiful...cant wait for the oracle cards !!,amazing were artists find inspirations from. what wil the cards be vased on ??... i use art as a therapeutic outlet my sef
the cards are all based on my art poetry paintings, and they are for reflection, meditation, insights, inspiration (artist prompts). I hope the deck will be comforting in difficult times too.
Im finding myself checking to see if you have a new video! Love your style, you have inspired me to play and incorporate mark making over my watercolors! Could you please share the aqua color that is in this painting (and several others you've made). Im trying to mix it but I love it so much I just want to buy the tube!!! thanks!
I am trying several sketchbooks to find "the one" too!! I do like Strathmore Watercolour 140lb Art journal, Pentalic is another good one but $, and "proart premier". I'm looking for one with 140lb cold press paper but non leather cover (vegan)... that's so tough! I'm starting to make my own... you may wish to make your own with paper you have , if that appeals to you?
@@allisondawrant I just ordered Cheap Joe's art supply's brand journal- "Kilaminjaro bright white Paintbook" it's currently on sale but is back ordered. It has 100% cotton WC paper AND drawing paper which is really cool.
what size are the oracle cards you are making:.....love them. .....not sure how to do it but I have 9 great grandkids and they would make a great xmas gift so I want to try ....thks for all your amazing ideas
Great question! the cards are 90 x 125 mm, with rounded corners, and a box that I've designed including shrink wrap for extra protection. If you email me your location, I can likely look into a discount if you were to order more than 5! thanks for your interest. My email is addawrant@gmail.com They will be listed Sept 1st, 2023, at www.allisondawrant.com
awesome wilton sprays i have the colection of gels im definitely tiring those out ,any particular ratio ? or unti happy with outcome ?? years i spend so much money investing in cake baking supplies .... i ended up giving up rather quick lol
now you have a new use for them! just use gloves and a popsicle stick and run warm water over the gel that you pick up on the popsicle stick... and yes- no ratio. You don't need much to get bright colours. It's so much fun. Just messy!
How are you making your Dylusions inks permanent? Other than sealing them, they are very water reactive. It's one of the things I don't like about them.
oh how interesting! it’s been years since i’ve played with them but i thought once they dry, they don’t react with water? i’ll have to experiment ! thanks for the insights:)
You are doing an awesome job with your channel. Your voice is calming and your art marks and color choices are inspiring. Really enjoy watching your process and love the results. Can't wait to see the oracle deck! I'm sending you a DM on Facebook.

Fuchsite genuine by Daniel smith is great too with a bit of shimmer.

Dylusions inks absolutely ARE NOT ARCHIVAL and to sell them as such in art is highly misleading to a buyer, they are DYE-based and are fugitive
thanks for sharing this .
