Can’t believe how well Hayley Adams is holding up against woman who have been doing this for yeeears! She’s only 19, very impressive 💪
Uh, she's been doing this "for years", too. She got a much younger start in Crossfit competition than the rest of these women.
Hayley is much leaner than other athletes. I would like to see her get a little bigger. She's quite fast, if she gets stronger, she'll be fierce!
@@vanillaghetto yeah fair enough, I just mean that age can make a difference (not always), most of the others have still been doing this longer- hence why they have so much more muscle mass

Watching this again two years later. I wanted to see how much Madeiros has improved in two years. I forgot how much I liked these games without the crowd noise and can hear the effort it takes these athletes to do these events. Hearing Fraser grunt and breathing hard reminds us he is actually human. And I somehow forgot Jeffrey Adler was there. I love watching him.
Should be bench instead of strict press to have more separation. They ran this event a couple years ago as well and that just turned into “who can deadlift the most” as well
Bench is the least Crossfit lift. And overhead press is a better exercise anyway.
lolololo bench press sucks.
so non functional
@@gracefool I mean, is rifle shooting more crossfit??
The thing with bench is.. you can bounce it off your chest.. and the hips can come off which is a no no. Itd be cool if they did it by powerlifting standards though..slight pause on the chest and the hips and glutes remain down.
@@JROB447 shooting is very functional :p
Adler told his coach after 2nd DL attempt: "If I don't need to do the last one I won't, so check the numbers".

They should probably have people load the weight for them like in actual lifting competitions.
yeah but this isn't an actual lifting competition it's crossfit
maybe they don't do it because of covid. they have like 4 mins in between reps so it's not a huge deal anyway
Davidsdottir used hip hinge on the last two strict press, and they showed it on the slow mo after her third press.. no rep.
What’s hip hinge?
@@jaylenberrien6237 1:19:52 it's very subtle but watch the movement at the waist. Doesn't look like much but makes a world of difference and gets some energy in the bar before initiating the press.
She used momentum on all three. The commentator even talked about it after her first lift! All three were no reps. I was glad to see that she got fifth place (despite).
@@vanillaghetto yup. That valsalva breath in right at initiating the lift gives her momentum. None of the other athletes did that
@@TokenTupperware valsalva is a breathing / bracing technique. She used hip momentum (common technique in powerlifting) which is a totally different thing.
"with ease"?! Their knees are touching!
This is how you tear ACLs
As a strengthlifter (SOHP, Squat, deadlift) these numbers are pretty damn good considering their level of fatigue after previous events. Very impressive!
I'm gonna assume "SOPH" is 'Strict Overhead Press' srengthlifting is not strict at all lmao they allow a bounce before pressing. It's pretty much the old school Olympic Clean & Press but without the clean. If it was meant to be strict then Chase Lindsey wouldn't be able to do 405lbs 💀

Would they have killed them to put the weights on kilograms too?
Totally true. Not everyone understands pounds
Or you could use your calculator and divide by 2.2...
@A. Eren Filiz First, thank you for your explanation, I knew some weights because of the colours like you explained, the smaller ones are the problem.
@@natejohn8795 😲😄
@A. Eren Filiz No they are not, and that's the tricky thing. Blue are 45lbs which is 20,4kg bar is 45 too in the US but for these two let's say it's no big deal.
Yellow are 35lbs = 15,9kg instead of 15, greens are 25lbs = 11,36kg instead of 10... Small whites are 10lbs, actually 1lbs less than 5kg...
So in the end guessing the total weight precisely, from the plates's color, is an absolute clusterfuck for people who are using metric system, which is actually 95+% of the world.
I love how guys who couldn't HOPE to participate in these events want to comment about what makes it easier or harder... HMMM.
So much complaining and un-constructive criticism all over the comments. Makes me remember why sometimes I disappointed by the fitness community. The weightlifting community in person are some of the most supportive humans around. Congratulations to all the athletes that participated, competing is never easy.
CrossFit needs to have a media team again.. I feel motivated to get out there. the last 1&1/2 years have been..
would have been better if they show the weight they about to lift, too many close up of the athletes faces.
Yeah, with the level of broadcasting they're at it's super odd that the attempted numbers are neither displayed, nor known to the commentators.
No kidding.

Hey.....close ups of Brooke Wells are always welcome......from any angle.
1:15:04 how is this a counted rep? The bar obviously bounced up from the downward motion. It is for sure a press but not strict.

Please tell people what the weight is!! Should have a ticker at the top, or something. Unlike CF Games to not track for the audience.
I was thinking the same thing. The commentators talk a lot but the only thing they need to mention is the weight (which they sometimes do and sometimes don't) and the numbers on the front of the platforms are not posted by judges (laziness?)
The self is very strong in most of us; sleeping or waking, it is ever alert, always strengthening itself but when there is an awareness of the self and a realization that all its activities, however subtle, must always lead to conflict and pain, then the craving for certainty, for self-continuance comes to an end.

next crossfit games i would love for them to do every event for time. no points, you just get a head start with as many seconds as you lead in the previous race. i think that would make it crazy fun to watch.
my knees hurt just by watching those squats, damnnnn!!!
In my opinion strict bb press should definitely be a staple of determining strength. I don't understand why strict press isn't used in powerliftng competitions. I love the strict press.
I can feel my joints hurting looking at this
Pretty poor work here by CrossFit. They didn’t always tell us the weights that were being lifted and, especially with the men, we didn’t know what Fraser needed on his last lift to win, how much he lifted, and whether it was enough. Totally inexplicable and inexcusable.

@@alan181090 probably too heavy for them...if they did not do this with their knees, I think they do not have force to only bring it up with their quads...they risk injury for competition.
Great job to all the athletes!
Not one back stayed stiff that day
If they would just set the bar LOWER on the back squat, that would help them lift a lot more, and initiate the movement from the BOTTOM with the hips, they would lift a lot more.
most of these people train olympic lifting style and a lowbar squat just isnt functional for that. Also if you never train a lowbar squat you wont lift more with it. So thats the reason they arent using low bar.

My knees hurt watching this ,females squat pretty good weight but that knee caving is not good
Exactly what I was thinking.
It's Crossfit.. they don't know better
That's what powerlifter do. I guess , you can squat 500lbs with ease.
I always thought the same thing but thats honestly a personal preference. I think a lot of these guys just prefer a more ass to grass type of squat, and theres science to back that forward knee travel is not that bad. Caving, however, different story. Cant be perfect i guess when you’re putting up that kind of weight lol
Idk about the other girls but I do know tia tried to fix it for a few months and really injured herself
Some of these women are stronger then alot of men....... Impressive!
Most men..... your average guy doesn’t squat 320+
These athletes need a few months with Coach Mark Rippitoe.
Kwant hook gripping his DL 😖 OUCHY!

why do they skip the second part of the lifts. Why do the competitors load the bars themselves?
They should do the press while seating, that would take out the bounce , especially davidsdottir

So impressive how strong they all are
Would have loved them to bench instead of shoulder press! Just curious what their powerlifting total would,ve been
I can only assume their bench # would be comparable considering how much upper body training they do. More technical lifts like squats are going to be lower since they don't train bb backsquat that much
They should have spotters on either side for the squat pretty dangerous how they had no spotter if you ask me
This is way more entertaining than a power lift meet

I HATE when they say Back squat. It's JUST A SQUAT. "Squat" implies back. Just like "Bench Press" implies flat bench. Unless otherwise stated.
