Scott's been to the Philippines a few times. I'm sure he's seen balut, at least on the street. One day my father in law, wife, and me are sitting on the porch. Papa is drunk and going on about how much he loves his little girl and how proud he of her he is. And he's making me protect and honor her for life for the 7,000th time. My wife, loves games, says, I have an idea. Let's see who loves me the most...by who can eat the most balut. She really thought I wouldn't touch it but she pitted my love against her father's. I had to win. The deal was whoever ate 10 first or the one who ate the most. To say I lost is an understatement. I puked at three. More from the spicy vinegar and sili pepper I was pouring on it. Then papa tells her she can't waste food and must eat the two on my plate before mama comes home and yells. "Papa, my sweet papa. You know I don't eat that nasty bird. You'll need to eat them and pass out before mama comes home and I tell her (me) and you eat party appetizer for tomorrow drinking. When she told you to clean." However, I proved my love and got another child from it. Most pinay will not eat it. Don't let them fool you into it.

These canned sardines are really good. Well most of the canned fish you find at the asian market are great. They are packed with flavors. These in particular I love to eat with rice and dried seaweed, it tastes so yummy.
That was my favorite Sardines brand; I used to sauté it with a little of garlic and sweet onions, my son loved it too but about 10 years ago, I became allergic to sardines. I would break out around my lips & cheeks 😢
@@SantokiYama you ever try to add fresh tomatoes to them? Drizzel a little mushroom soy sauce or regular soy sauce. And garnish it with cilantro or green onion. It enhances the flavor and makes a great quick meal.
I married someone whose food choices are completely opposite to mine. Even when we go on holiday after a day of local cuisine he seeks out food from his motherland. It was hard at first having opposite tastebuds but we've adjusted quite well.

I luv these can sardines in tomato sauce. I normally cooked them on the stovetop tho cause I add white onions, green onions, diced tomatoes, lil sugar n fish sauce n lots of chilies 🌶🌶🌶 cause i luv spicy foods. Great with rice or toast a French baguette 🥖 n u have urself a tasty sandwich.
I’m not Asian but I lived with Asian friends for several years at uni, and I have to say, since then, whenever I’m sick- I want rice porridge!🤷♀️👍🏻🥰 But then honestly about 80% of what I cook and eat is Asian food anyway🤷♀️👍🏻🥰

We can eat sardines direct from the can. But I also like to cook it in some oil with garlic, onion and tomatoes.. it gives me more sauce to mix with the rice😊
