From 2:48 onward is one of the greatest songs in the movie. Epic, intense, tragic, a feeling of danger throughout it. You can just sense the peril, the helpless feeling that death is on the way, then shock and despair when Spirit fears he may have lost the love of his life after Rain gets shot, then she falls into the raging current and he leaps after her, and the most tense part of the music kicks in when he looks at her and then realizes a waterfall is very close to her as she approaches it quickly (at 4:24 of the song is when the camera pans from her to the waterfall). He bravely races towards his lover to rescue her, but it's too late. Moments later they can't escape the strong current then both collapse down the waterfall. Later he survives and emerges, sees her once again as she's laying on her side next to a rock, appearing to be suffering and he tries to revive her, and even though he knows it might be too late, he still stays at Rain's side no matter what. He will never leave her. That's what true love is
Spirit: I knew this was hard for her then she was scared. but more than anything. I wanted to share my homeland with her. I laid beside her that night. hoping, praying that somehow she would be okay.
This score inspired a scene in my D&D campaign, where the party with the help of the kingdom was about to finally stop a villain's black market. The army finally got a legalized warrant to investigate and destroy anything threatening, and to stop anyone involved by any means necessary. At the gates of the market underground, the party stood with the captain of the army. "We are to rescue anyone alive, and destroy the markets. Leave none that threaten you standing." As the music starts to rise and intensify, the captain and party start to charge in, finding a large group of fifty black cloaked individuals in tight black clothing. As the fight began, the party began breaking through enemy lines to get to the mastermind behind it all, finding it all too easy. And as the music starts to soften up, the fight is over, with the captain realizing that those cloaked, were innocent people under a powerful spell, their bodies controlled against their will. Their mouths gagged and hidden by black coverings, soon reddened with blood. The party had failed their duty, realizing that they fell into the mastermind's hands yet again.
@blazetheplaneswalker Thank you! It was an amazing scene and the party felt terror and shock. And they cursed at me all the while lol, but they loved it too.
I saw this movie as a kid and always loved it. Years later now an adult I find out my friend that’s a year younger than me never seen it. He was hesitant to watch a kids movie. After much convincing I got him to watch it. He was then loving every second of it. His reaction to certain parts were dramatic though. Like when Spirit got captured, when rain got shot, the waterfall part right after and he thought Rain was gonna die. Our friend William said to him. Please tell me you’re not about to cry during a cartoon.
It's not on the soundtrack on iTunes either. They cut the waterfall scene and the escape from the colonel out of it! We still get some of the magic though.
Damn. Can't believe this movie is 20 years old
What- now I feel old💀
"I'm never going to ride you, am I? And no one ever should."

Guess the US weren’t attacking the Lakota. They wanted to kidnap horses from them.
Nope the cavalry regiment was sent to remove the Lakota from the land one way or the other
This made me chuckle because I never noticed that the horses took over the colonialism moral that much!
