      French Empire-
France should not be synonymous with the word “freedom”. As with all colonial empires, its history is soaked with the blood of oppressed peoples across the globe. And its record of perpetrating violence continues.
The size of the territory claimed by the French empire in the 19th and 20th centuries was second only to Britain. From North Africa to South-East Asia, the Middle East to the South Pacific, millions were subjugated, repressed and murdered as French rulers scrambled to secure resources and markets for manufactured goods and profitable investments.
It was only in the face of heroic mass struggles by the colonised determined to win their independence that France was eventually forced to cede control in the 1950s and ’60s.
      Ottoman Empire-
'The Ottoman Empire, led by the radical nationalist ‘Young Turks,’ carried out a genocide between 1915-1923. While Armenians were the most affluent and widely persecuted group, perpetrators sought to purge the Ottoman Empire of all Christian minorities. This included Assyrians and Greeks. Scholars estimate that 1.5 million Armenians were slaughtered, but the total death toll is over 2 million people.
The term ‘Assyrian’ encompasses the Chaldeans, Nestorians, Syriacs, Arameans, and more. Before 1915, between 500,000 and 600,000 Assyrians lived in the Ottoman Empire. They were persecuted due to anti-Christian hatred and to their history of seeking independence from the Empire.
The genocide of the Assyrians was similar to that of the Armenians. Hundreds of thousands of Assyrians were deported to the desert in death marches, during which many died from starvation or disease. Women were raped and enslaved. Many villages or deportation convoys were massacred.
Stop with the woke biased 'Bash-the-Brits' agenda!

"History is written by the victors" - and as the British were the victorious Imperial colonizers of 1/3rd of the world in the 1700s-1800s, they wrote history according to how they want to be regarded and seen.
Even the Japanese are today, re-writing their history books to disavow any of their own involvements in WW2 as has Turkiye done to pretend no involvement in the disappearance of the Armenians.
And remember - how are continents and countries such as North America and Australia are occupied and ruled by Anglo-Europeans today. They didn't just appear out of nowhere from the ground but originated from the English islands on the other side of the world. If India and China were not as large with a huge population that caused the invaders a case of indigestion in trying to swallow them up, it would not be surprising if the original inhabitants would not be replaced by Anglo-Europeans eventually and made the same as the U.S.A. and Australia is today

Imperialism is the highest stage in Capitalism, as Lenin famously stated. That seems more true today than ever. So no, as long as the West remains committed to its primacy in global capitalism, violence and suppression are the only tools that can accomplish that goal. Until the workers of the West gain some class consciousness, we are doomed to continue to inflict this kind of violence to maintain our supremacy and dominance. Many in the West have never seen the reality of our imperialist exploits firsthand. We still benefit in the imperial core from the plundering of wealth from the periphery. Some are waking up and, thanks to videos like this, may one day rise up and end the reign of global capitalism that makes this kind of oppression necessary to continue the plundering of wealth for the sake of profits for the rich. The Johnson, the McDonald and the McMahon Lines came into being in 1865, 1899 and 1914 respectively. Do you mean the British had planted all those traps at the Sino-Indian border way back then when the British Empire was at its height and had envisioned the lost of India before WWI? India after gaining independent in 1947 could have 1. negotiated bilaterally agreed border lines with China; 2 negotiated border line based on those 3 lines (Johnson, McDonald & McMahon) drew by the British (lines were negotiable); and 3. adopted the Johnson and McMahon and both lines not up for negotiation. There would not have been border issues and resulting military conflicts if India had chosen either 1 or 2. Why blame the British on this case?

So I don't know what you meant by "changing borders". The British could never have foreseen how WWI had affected GB (everyone thought the war would be a short one) and not to say the rise of imperial Japan and then WWII as early as in 1914. Britain would never have given up India if she wasn't so much weakened after WWII. It is absurd to think that the British thought about one day they would lose the Empire while it was at its height. Do you know how hard they tried to keep Kenya from gaining independence even after WWII? Of course once they knew their time is up then they will do funny things like what they had done to HK after Deng refused to extend the lease on those leased territories in HK.

      @WongPeter-tx7qq Месяц назад

China proposed in both 1961 and 1962 that she would accept the McMahon Line in general (subject to proper delimitation) in return for India adopting the McDonald rather than the Johnson Line. So the continued disputes was brought about not by those lines but by the India's insistence that the Johnson Line was non-negotiable. If India had chosen to McDonald Line instead then there wouldn't have border issues, at least no war in 1962. You do have to read the fine points sometimes.

If you can recognise facts such as western evil deeds, you can also recognise in 1903 Tibet is not a country but a territory of Qing Dynasty.

To be exact Tibet at that period of time was not a territory of Qing dynasty but under China suzerainty.

@WongPeter-tx7qq No, Tibet is in Qing's map. They have Governors in Tibet. But you can argue they have great autonomy due to distance and altitude from Beijing. Korea and Vietnam is under Qing's suzerainty, where they are not included in Qing's map and Qing had no governors there.

@@mottscottison6943 Territory is too loose a word to described the China/Tibet relationship as it doesn't distinguish the level of control. A short summary - historically Tibet was under China’s sovereignty/suzerainty for hundreds of years. The levels of control varied in accordance with the strength of the Chinese govt at which particular time period. British India entered the picture in 1904 with the Convention of Lhasa. British India exercised further control on and took territories from Tibet with the Simla Convention and the drawing of the McMahon Line in 1914. In Aug 1947 India inherited GB's distinctive relationship with Tibet but without the muscles. Nehru was reconciled to China’s takeover of Tibet but wanted it to be done peacefully by negotiating with Lhasa. Mao ended the conundrum in late 1950.

If Russia withdraws from Ukraine, China has to quit Tibet for the simple reason both were in the same situation “Occupied nations” period!
Remember there was no border between India and China before Mao’s communist occupation of Tibet in 1959. It was Indo-Tibet border. The evidence is that Indo-Tibet border police still exist in India. There is no Indo-China border police. Sorry!

Again it is machine guns versus bow, arrows and spears. But the Tibetans had not learned their lessons. Tibet under China has propered and yet still want to be manipulated by the US/CIA to gain independence. Under the huge economic umbrella of China, Tibetans stand to benefit more than before. High time these Tibetans get up and work hard instead of indulging in prayers only. Truly and sadly locking themselves in the past and expect charity from the world.

China has preserved Buddhism and now has the largest number of Buddhists in the world. Meanwhile, India, which often presents itself as a protector of Buddhism, historically suppressed it, resulting in Buddhists making up less than 1% of its population today. Tibet, under Chinese administration, has become one of the most prosperous regions in Asia, which is why Tibetans are not eager to leave, unlike Palestinians and Syrians who are fleeing Gaza and Syria.

If you look back into the history of most colonial countries, somehow there was a huge financial debt incurred with huge interest which that country couldn't pay back. Then the British crown paid on its behalf and the country had to be ceded over to the empire.

Welcome to the history of British! I’m a Malaysian, we had our fair share of being colonised by the British in the early 1900s. We’re lucky because our ancestors fought hard to shoo away these imperialists and lucky to have a patriotic PM in the 80s for his famous DAWN RAID where his team managed to bring back our farmers’ rubber plantation lands back to our government which was a HUGE SLAP to the British! Then, our PM’s BUY BRITISH LAST policy gave them another whip! I’m THANKFUL!😮
