I think it's a great hire... He's gonna bring that fire to a program that has been down... Not bashing Payne for his personality just a stark difference between the two...

Pitino made a great decision. Alford thought UCLA and the Wooden spirit would make him great, but he forgot that it was Wooden that made UCLA great. Now Pitino can improve and build a new powerhouse at a place that will always appreciate him. Pitino is willing to get better, and that is the key with New Mexico. Watch the Lobos keep moving up and up in the next few years. I hope Pitino doesn't let the crazy-bad fans in Albuquerque pull him down and that he does let crazy-good fans and the fans who love him bring him up and up.

It's weird because somehow this is both a good hire and the reason the fire Cal crowd needs to pipe down. Championship pedigree just is not available in the ncaa right now, you got a small handful of guys with 1 title and one guy with 2, and that's it, and they're all locked into jobs. You can be a top 10 job all you want but the absolute fact is if you lose your coach right now you’ll be stuck trying to guess who the next championship level coach is going to be, not hiring an existing one who's a safe bet. There aren't 10 out there even if they all get fired at once.

The excellent Coaches are fat & lazy and content to ride out where they are..destined to be fired and get the golden parachute just to go away. Dude this has been a disaster. We’re about to become a community college. Josh Heird needs to go. He keeps making goofy hires that make him comfortable. And he’s obviously goofy because no coach trusts coming here with him as AD. We in the city actually hate him and want him fired asap. We didn’t want him overseeing this hire for this very reason. This is why the city stopped supporting the team. Because the fmr governor Matt Bevin killed our program then inserted his UK thugs into board and since then, the school has been making moves that don’t represent the city. We want Rick and Tom Jurich back. I think pat is a good coach but no. Not here. It’s Chris Mack all over again. We’d rather have Richard. Don’t care what people think about his resume. And that is the truth. So I mean… we might like him. But he’s gonna have to convince us. Don’t expect a ton of support this summer because this isn’t going move anyone to believe that we’re on track to being what we used to be.

I am extremely disappointed in Louisville’s decision to hire Pat Kelsey as their men’s head basketball coach. This is a major letdown for our program and it’s hard to understand why they would choose someone with such a lackluster track record. @@redstate502 I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree with you on this one. Just because Pat Kelsey has been a head coach for 12 years and has won 11 trophies doesn’t automatically mean he has a stellar track record. It’s also important to consider the level of competition he has faced, the consistency of his success, and any controversies or setbacks he may have experienced during his coaching career. @@redstate502 I understand that you see success in terms of wins and losses, but I believe there are other important factors to consider when evaluating a coach’s performance. Just because a coach has dominated in certain conferences doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best fit or most effective leader for a team. I prefer to look at the overall impact a coach has on player development, team culture, and overall success. So while I may have a different perspective on this particular coach, it doesn’t mean I am a doom and gloom person. I just have a different criteria for what I consider to be a successful coach.
