Kinda like Roy's better😂
“HHH” definitely got him 😂
Very nice segment.
As soon as the CDC said we didn't have to worry about Monkeypox, thats when I knew it would become a BIG issue
Yup
Probably wouldn't have happened if we left mask mandates in place for air travel
@@dustytheloneranger monkey pox isn't contracted by air, a mask wouldn't help. But the very thing Republicans voted against, would keep it from spreading as bad, contraceptions, which includes condoms. Republicans said nope we have to have the world record in people with Money Pox and other STDs period.
@@dustytheloneranger doubtful. It's transmission mechanisms are different.
They still base their findings on people who wash their hands and can afford healthcare which doesn’t represent majority. It’s like all for show
Monkeypox can actually be carried by a ton of different animals, including anteaters and rodents. The first identified US case was transmitted to a little girl by the bite of a prairie dog her mom had bought her from an exotic animal dealer.
EDIT: To clarify, I'm talking about the first *ever* case in the US, back in 2003.
that last is a freaking idiot.. is that seriously how it happened??
Do you have a link for that fact? Thank you.
@@MartineReed pls just fking search online

*P.S first link cdc*
You are absolutely correct and with over a thousand cases in New York it has already found a zoonotic reservoir we cannot get rid of it at this point no matter how hard we try it will continue to come back year after year until we declare that it's an endemic disease in the US
@@MartineReed It's difficult to leave links nowadays. I'm not sure how to get around the algorithm's tenacity. Does anybody have any decent advice on how to properly post links in the comment threa
1:57 "Less than two weeks ago, the CDC listed just over 1400 confirmed cases, nationwide. Now, that number has nearly doubled, with cases in all but five states."
"The greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function."
-Professor Albert Allen Bartlett
ELI5
@@rog2881 We intuitively understand adding the same number over and over again (a constant rate of increase), but fail to understand the impact of (for example) doubling a number over and over again. The classic example is that if you asked someone whether they'd want a million dollars, or a penny doubled every day for a month ($0.01 on day one, plus $0.02 on day 2, plus $0.04 on day 3, etc etc), most would take the million. But they'd be wrong to do so -- if you took the doubling deal, by the end of the month you'd have over $5 million dollars.
When something is going up exponentially (literally exponentially, not just like, hey this is going up pretty fast) it will ALWAYS go up faster than you expect. MUCH faster.
@@clairekaplan7417 I think it's because unless you're a math genius you don't think a month is long enough for an impressive amount of increase. I can't actually calculate that in my head so like most people I'd probably just guess whether a penny exponentially increases past 1 million dollars in a month. (And be wrong XD)
But if you could take that million dollars and invest it in the same bank where that magically doubling penny is sitting...

Chess Robot : "You can either lose your finger, or you can lose the game. It's your move.."😂😂
A robot can't tell the difference between a chest piece and a child's finger. That's why it broke the child finger. Similar thing happened at a car assembly plant in which a robot crushed a woman working there, because it couldn't tell the difference between a person and a car part. This is not a malfunction, it's just doing what it's being programmed to. They're not thinking on their own, it's just plain straight human error because their incapable of knowing the difference of a living thing not to harm vs a non living thing that is incapable of feeling pain. Just because you can have robots work with people doesn't mean that it's safe to be around because of it mistakes a human for an object, it will not know the concept of death just for the fact that it's incapable of knowing what that means.
The point made on the show that there's no reason for a chess robot to have enough engine power to break bones still stands. Car factory robots handle heavy metal objects that genuinely need a lot of force to securely and swiftly move. A tiny bit of plastic or wood in the form of a chess piece does not.
There's human errors aplenty in this case, and I suspect that the robot used is a repurposed light industrial model that for whatever reason wasn't programmed for appropriately limited power usage.
@@miskakopperoinen8408 Exactly. It's not the kids fault, he's just a kid, it's the fact that robots don't know what they are doing and can't compensate for people when they make errors or not. But yah, I didn't even know that chest playing robots were a thing not till after watching this video. In my head I don't understand why everything has to involve a robot or some type of program. Not everything can replace people. It just leaves me with more questions than answers.
@@kandystorressantiago8865 The motivation doesn't mystify me. Chess computers can offer unlimited playtime, reliable repetitions on appropriate challenge levels and can easily help to train various chess tactics and gameplans. Using a fully digital version of chess, however, loses the enjoyment and tactile experience that using a real chess board and pieces offer. Additionally the player must not only know how to play chess, but be adequately comfortable with the program itself. A robot solves those issues quite proficiently and as such, has clear incentives in my opinion. Besides that, the experience clearly has novelty and unfortunate accidents notwithstanding the experience of playing against a robot is just cool.
JOKE
@@kandystorressantiago8865 It helps the computer scientists understand machine learning better. The reality is that automation is useful in many places and the better the programming of the robots the less likely things like this are.
“We hittin’ the clubs. You wanna go?”
“Nah man… I’mma stay home with my monkey.”
The chess robot didn't malfunction. It was taking it's turn and the engineers did not program any stop conditions to detect if it grabs something that wasn't a chess piece or a sensor to wait if there was motion on the board. It did exactly what it was programmed to do which is the opposite of sentience. Just an unfortunate incident where a kid got injured by a robot's poor design and engineering. Even some table saws nowadays use electrical sensors to detect contact with flesh and immediately stop.
yeah but like why does it need so much power that its enough to break a child's finger lol
In order for the robot to move with any speed it needs very strong motors. However, like @William mentioned it’s just poor engineering. There are several ways this situation could have been avoided.
That's media for you. Little of it is true.
@@brendog217 do you mean like if the child drank more milk and actually did resistance exercises? Kids these days, not even training for robot chess 🤦🏼♂️

About the chess robot - there needs to be better indication of whose turn it is for each match, maybe a light or a button that the human players have to press. That way, there’s no confusing a finger for a chess piece.

That’s why global warming wasn’t the phrase the science community wanted to continue using. Climate change is the reality for all places. Antarctica will melt, Nigeria may freeze. We don’t know the limits of it.
Saying this with an analytical background in land management should have been enough for a couple red flags. People wanted to continue making money though. California, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado will run out of water......I'm out west, but I'm definitely not in California. There's a huge ocean 1.5 miles from me. Huge. Stretches to Asia. If they can't make drinking water out of ocean water then something is wrong. Should have been on that 30yrs ago!!!
Look at California, people can grow outdoor cannabis but not indoors. What? Lol. Outdoor cannabis plants can require up to 4 gallons of water a day depending on how big they are. And when you're growing in 100 gallon containers, you're going to have a dang tree!! Lots of water required for that.
California grows lots of almonds. Did you know it takes 1 gallon of water per day per nut to produce almonds? Yea,lots of water usage. Curious how many green lawns there are in California, takes a lot of water to maintain a green lawn especially in hot weather. How many pools are filled each year?
We waste water like it's going out of style.
I hear you. And do NOT even get me revved up about golf courses!
Years ago here in southern Virginia they started building a pipeline to bring water in from Lake Gaston in N.C. to Virginia Beach. There were many lawsuits that delayed the project for over a decade and increased the cost by tens of millions of dollars. When I asked why not just build a desalination plant because at this point it would be faster and cheaper I was told because the local government or the water company doesn't want to pay the salaries and retirement costs of a plant's employees. In other words desalination plants, while they would be a very practical way to provide plenty of water to serve the needs of communities, won't make the companies that control our drinking water the huge profits that they want. Corporate greed!
@@robo5013 Desalination plants have large amounts of toxic waste.
@@tioswift3676 What toxic waste? I just looked at desalination plants and the only drawbacks given are the high energy costs to operate. They are expensive to build and run, so water would cost more if done by private corporations. But what alternatives are there that aren't also expensive? The country of Dubai gets 90% of its water from desalination plants. Its population is 3.3 mil. LA has pop. of 3.9 mil. Both places are built in a desert.
@@robo5013 The slurry produced from the desalination. Every 1 liter of fresh water extracted from sea water = 1.5 liters of slurry.
