I don't know about other people but for me, not having English subtitles and just having translations for key vocabulary is really helpful. I'm paying attention more to what you're actually saying and I'm definitely understanding more even though I'm not very good at Japanese yet!
Agreed. A learner doesn't need to know every word anyway.

@@DailyJapanese Yes, this is so helpful! English subtitles are too distracting :) Even if I don't know what you're saying, it helps with reading to follow the Japanese subtitles & match with the sounds
I really appreciate the Japanese subtitles - it helps me to learn a little more reading as well as improving listening ability. Really glad I found this channel.
I think how the content is now is perfect. It improves not only listening but also your comprehension. And the way you introduce new words is also great because you add plenty of context. You don't have to teach grammar. People don't need to know grammar rules to be able to speak / learn a language. I can say that as a non native English speaker my self. Over the years I've just seen allot of movies and RUclips video's and read a little. After a while you'll just know what's correct and what is not.

People do need to understand basic grammar to speak any language but I do agree that the content is really good. She has a very enjoyable way of teaching through storytelling.

I think Naoko surpassed many professional teachers already. My japanese is still bad but I can understand almost everything without effort here. That's cheer me up. Whenever unknown word appear Naoko gives clear, simple explanation every time. It is like mind reading or magic. Similar to Anya's power from Spy Family. True talent for teaching.

Also, if you need subtitles in English, just install Language Reactor for your browser. It lets you click on japanese words, and see the definition and save them to a list. You can also have a seperate set of subtitles on the side. Great study tool!
I love this chrome addon I have had it for a year or two I use it on netflix as well it also works with yomi-chan so you can add words into your anki deck pretty easily

I think it is fantastic that you don't use English anywhere, but explain it so well using only Japanese and small hand gestures, that I as a learner understand the new words.

I found out your channel recently. I really like your videos. They are a great help for listening comprehension and new vocabulary. I like there are japanese cultural aspects as well. For me it is a plus that there's not English subtitles so I don't have the bad habit of turning them on. The Japanese subtitles are great.

Your videos are perfect! I like the natural tone. I think it’s okay to use そう all the time, too. Even in English youtubers will say “um” or “like” to fill the silence.
