Wow, just did this today on a mid-2014 MacBook Pro. Replaced stock 128 GB with OWC 480 GB Aura Pro X2 for $160. Writes/reads increased from 228/606 to 1250/1465. Awesome!!! It was so easy to swap. Cleaned out 5 years of dust while I was in there. :-)
I'd like to add that I also just ordered the Aura N for my Late-2013 MacBook 15". I called OWC to get some info on the Aura N vs. the Aura Pro X2. As it turns out, in my 2013 and 2014 MacBooks, the Aura Pro X2 only achieves ~15% better write/read speeds over the Aura N in these years MacBook Pros. Considering the power consumption is much higher on the Aura Pro X2 (5.7 vs 1.2 watts), I probably would have been better off with the Aura N in my mid-2014 MacBook Pro. The Aura N is $20 cheaper, uses less power, and still gets much better write/read speeds than the stock Apple SSD.
@@CJRichvideo Did you install the Aura or the Aura Pro X? By the way, these models were recently replaced with the Aura N and Aura Pro X2 respectively. Looks like the prices have dropped quite a lot since you posted your video.
Jason Amerson got the same MBP as you...considering getting Aura N (thanks for the tip). Do I need the kit from OWC to back up SSD or Mac OS will install over the network to the new SSD? Thanks.
Hey man great video. Question, is it possible to format the ssd to mac journaled instead of apfs? And can I install high sierra as the osx? I have a mid 2015 macbook pro? Thabks for any info?
Hi ! I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2012. Recently updated it to Mojave. Will introducing a new ssd help make it any faster . Also any other way to make it faster / more responsive . Thanks ! Cheers
Shaq H. They’re great devices. You should be able to find one in that price range no problem. I’d recommend the I5 with 8GB ram and a 256GB flash drive.

Hi can you please share the screwdriver tool kit brand that you used on the video ? Thanks
My new ssd isn’t showing, please help, thanks 🙏
does the battery decreases or any problems you've faced?
In what situations the new speed is appreciated? And have you replaced the original battery? My 2015 macbook pro battery is alive for only 2hs... :(
someone does not appear that when you turn off the mac the dock freezes with the new version of catalina 10.15.4 or will there be a command for this?
so if I use time machine will it save my os system and my files ?
Yes.
@@CJRichvideo thank you

That is, can you put a second ssd in the macbook? 15 mid 2014
Not that I’m aware of.
@@CJRichvideo I understood. You need to use an adapter to replace the original ssd 😎
