This gear saved my life. At about 80 mph I put my bike down into a guard rail. And was able to stand up and walk away unscathed other than a minor fracture in my left wrist due to "breaking" my fall when I put my arms out. I am grateful everyday. I will be back on two wheels in a month. My setup was:
    Helmet: scorpion exo r2000 - $250ish
Jacket: Sedici Niccolo Leather Jacket - $300ish
Gloves: my sedici Castro gloves were not with me at the time so I borrowed a pair of cheap coretecs and that was shitty going down in. Dont leave your better gloves at home
Pants: Bull-It sr6 sidewinder - onsale for $90ish (I think full price is around $180)
    Shoes: Alpinestars sektor - $170ish(?)
P.s. I see you've labeled sedici rather low on your list but let me say that my jacket was one of the nicest looking things coming out of this wreck. Even good enough that I have rode with it since. Full leather is full leather. You get what you pay for.

Had on Sedici Diego jacket, pants, gloves, and boots. Everything came out good enough to where I still ride in it!

I was one of those who used to say "uh whats the point of getting a £600 fancy helmet when you can get one that passes the safety standards for like £100".
This all changed when i tried one on and saw what i was missing, and i soon bought an Arai.
For your weekend warrior or good weather rider, you really dont need that half a grand Arai, but for people like me who commutes to and from work daily, all year round in rain, snow, ice, galeforce winds and heatwaves, you want a premium helmet like an Arai.
You dont need one, but theyre just so comfortable and a pleasant experience to wear, and it just makes commuting more enjoyable and helps you concentrate more..

    List of my gear:
Shoei Neotec 2 helmet XL matte black: Fits so nicely on my huge head, plus has every modern convenience feature. Amazing quality but you pay for it. Can get dirty easily.
Dainese Superleggera jacket size 52: very nice quality, has armor and is super breathable, not too expensive. I always feel safe when riding with it on.
Reax 610 jeans size 38: These jeans fit the best out of the three different brands I tried at Cycle Gear. They are quite expensive, yet I feel safe in any type of ride for their armor.
Bilt Sprint Gloves 5XL: The only reason I bought these gloves is because I could fit them on my wide hands. They breathe well and I would buy them again. Definitely not junk. Always better than no gloves.
Bilt Dexter Shoes size 14: Similar situation with the gloves, the only thing that fit that they had in store. These shoes run small, like a lot of gear for men my size. Shoes fit snug and breathe well, so I can't complain.
My Bilt stuff cost less than everything else, which is useful if you need gear for the MSF course, like I did.
My motorcycles are a Yamaha TW200 and 2017 Honda Africa Twin DCT.

Four years later, and I think Joe Rocket has only improved moderately. Boots, Jacket, and two pairs of gloves (got another for aesthetic reasons, not due to any issues). I wish I had found this list before I bought everything. The velcro on the jacket is weakly stitched, the boots are *not* uniform sizes, as the boot on my smaller foot was tight, yet my larger foot fit fine. On my first pair of gloves, the faux leather details are cracking after just a week of use. The 2nd pair of gloves seem to be holding up though. They say two out of three ain't bad, but I say three out of four is. Deffo gonna be saving to upgrade.

Not sure how far I tumbled & slid but at the end of it the forearms on my jacket were shredded and all i got was a 2 inch road rash burn on my right forearm. It was heat transfer road rash not from my arm actually touching the road. When i replaced that jacket i got the exact same jacket.

Personally, I'm not a fan of alpine stars or dianese, their reputations are much more hype based than reality based imo. I've had a mid tier jacket from both of them and it was disappointing in the fit and finish, zippers catching, bad stitching, and their stupid logos plastered on everything.... on a 300 dollar jacket.
On the other hand, he's absolutely on the money with RSTaichi, their gloves and jackets are more reasonably priced than the Italians and the fit and finish is superb, zippers work perfectly, all the stitching is clean and straight, leather work is great, the range of motion and feel in their gloves and boots is a cut above the rest. I've had some 30-40mph supermoto skids in them where they came out with nothing but some scuffing, still perfectly good. I've owned a pair of their gloves and a pair of their boots for 6 years and still wear them nearly everyday since I ride as a primary mode of transportation. I've had a top of the line perf leather jacket from them for about a year and I constantly get compliments on it. Don't think I've had a week go by without someone commenting on it.
