I had to rewatch this video to convince myself to stop putting creamer in my coffee. I’ve been doing IF for 2 weeks. Creamer is the one thing that’s hard to give up. 😅
Yes to this🙌. When I married my hubby 23 years ago his family and my family thought I was unhealthy because I would not be hungry until around 2 each day and would be done eating by dinner. I was a size 4 even after having 5 kids (at that time, now 7). Then after years I gave in and ate my hubby’s way. I gained so much weight, I have been taking it off again with my 6/18 intermittent fasting. 23 years ago I did not have a name for it. Thankful now I have science to back me up. Also thankful my hubby came around and admitted he was wrong. Can’t really blame he though. It was just what everyone thought was healthy for me.
I'm currently 6 months pregnant w/ our 7th baby & I was doing OMAD pre-pregnancy to lose the last baby weight. Switched back to IF after getting that positive & this has been my best pregnancy so far. No nausea or aversions of any kind, no first trimester naps needed, not 20lbs by 20 weeks (I've always gained 40) I've gained a very average 15 lb. I started exercising again 3 weeks ago & those days I do I notice hunger comes earlier, so I oblige. It truly is an intuitive way to eat.
Angela. I have been watching "the gathered nest" and I notice comments are disabled. I have wanted to comment on so many of them . I admire you and your husband so much for what you do - The love you give these children , the fact you have given these children a man and dad and a great family unit is amazing . You have a beautiful family , you must be so proud. How do you stay so youthful ,beautiful and fresh looking with all the work you do looking after a big family and also writing a book . Respect and hats off to you and your husband ... All the best from a UK fan.
“A busted can of biscuits.” 😆 So true! It is a feeling and you aren’t pinned down by numbers and the scale. That’s what skinny really feels like. Thanks for sharing and your delicacy in your story. How inspiring and beautiful you are! Your before photo is me at the moment. Hoping to get to your after someday soon with IF.
I do fasting for a month altogether with other muslims. It's on Ramadhan. And it helps my health and also fun bcz I am not alone doing the fasting. One of the most fun is on breakfasting time. ♡
I have an 8 month old wee bubba and have been planning from the start to ignore my weight until she hit 8 months and then REALLY try to turn it round. I've always been bigger and had hyperemesis too. I'm now dangerously over weight and having a wee bubba who is such a good motivator. Ready to be healthy physically after making sure I looked after myself mentally! Thanks for the chats it makes this whole journey less daunting!
I just started intermittent fasting this week and as I haven’t lost weight (which I would like but not doing it for this) - I want to heal my digestive system. And in just a week I am already feeling better and feel like I have more energy. Thank you for this video.
Yesssss “skinny is a feeling”- girl yes. I totally totally agree. I felt that way when I lossed my baby weight after Jude too. Your girl is still trying 2 years after Ingrid though... LOL!
I am an intermittent faster too! I started because I heard about it on your sister’s channel. It’s amazing and I love everything about it. Still a lot of weight to lose, but I have so much peace and freedom now around food! That’s been a huge gift.
Thank you for the encouragement to start this again. I begin IF (after watching Ashley's video!), but for whatever reason, I stopped after a week. I'm getting back on it. Even that first week, I noticed healing in my skin, and my acid reflux disappeared! Can't wait to see your q and a!
I tried everything to get healthy. IF was the first thing that worked for me. I have scoliosis. It has reduced so much of the inflammation that I deal with from that. Thank you so much for sharing your journey! Looking forward to the Q&A.
This is not to say that people shouldn't do IF, but to share another side. I did IF (16:8 and then 18:6) for a year and a half. I felt great and looked fantastic. I dropped 50 pounds. But eventually I started feeling sluggish and drained. I eventually decided to talk my doctor about what was going on. He decided to run a panel and it turns out that IF threw my hormones way out of whack. My testosterone and progesterone were super low. I have been on supplements for 3 months to try to get everything balanced. Now we are trying to get pregnant again and even after stopping IF 5 months ago, I am still struggling to get my progesterone up enough to maintain a pregnancy. Our bodies as women can be very sensitive to shifts in hormones and we rely on food to maintain a healthy balance. Some women are less sensitive and won't have a negative response to IF, but a lot of women are more sensitive and it can cause a lot of issues. So I would highly recommend meeting with your OB or gynecologist before starting and requesting a hormonal panel done initially and talk to them about possibly doing monitoring to make sure your hormones are not negatively responding to the diet. Trust me, it is heartwrenching to lose a baby and know it is because of something you did.
Thank you for sharing your experience! This is why I’m so adamant that people talk with their doctors and do what’s best for them. One size does fit all for sure!
I just love when you have those sit downs and talk about, well, everything and nothing 😊your voice is calming and feels genuine, like you are 😊thank you for you being you 👍🏻
Angela Braniff then you can Stop doing that 😉 I do understand what you are saying since I wouldn’t stand my own voice, I just think that’s how we ( typical females) are about our self’s. So... yo just have to take my word for it and continue to give us your lovely you ⭐️
I just had triplet boys in June 2019. Were in January now and I have never been this big (when not pregnant). I am hoping once I stop breastfeeding I’ll be able to lose. It’s so hard for me when I am breastfeeding. I feel like my body is like NO I AM SAVING THIS FAT FOR THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!
Me toooooo!!! With my first, I felt so much better once I shed some pounds that I decided to do it sooner after my second. NO CIGAR. My body would not let go and my milk supply would drop immediately. It wasn't until six months after I stopped breastfeeding, that it was so much easier!!! I'm trying to keep this in mind for my third, to not put pressure on myself while I am breastfeeding.
Yes yes yes!!! I had twins Oct 2018. They were baby 5 and 6. Still have about 30 lbs to go! It’s very frustrating when your body won’t let go. I stopped nursing 4ish months ago. Hoping to see some loss soon!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Before I got pregnant I’ve been doing clean 16/8 fasting as well for a couple months and it was working great for me! Can’t wait to go back to it after I have the baby.
Beautiful video, mama! Very relatable! 💜 Intermittent fasting is so great! I have been challenging myself to drink a gallon of water a day and really focus on REAL food and a good restful nights sleep...6.5+ hours a night and to stop eating after 6:30. Thank you for sharing this video with is all! 💜 🌸
Thanks so much for posting this! I've been doing IF since January, to date I'm down 21lbs. I usually do 16 to 18 hour fast. My energy level is through the roof! I was always skeptical but now I know it works and it's just become a way of life.
Hi Angela I'm Andrea from the uk . I have started a new job 3 months ago ad it's a early start till 2pm . That's when I start to eat till 9pm when I go up to bed . I've lost 17 lbs without even trying and realized after watching your video that it's what you have been doing . I feel amazing and my body feels so much better 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
😍😍😍 loved this, Thanks Angie! I'm gunna research & hopefully get started. I have SO MANY of the same issues & praying it will help most with my sleep & GI.
I am someone who suffers from HG as well - am currently 31 weeks and still struggle with nausea. I find that we tend to overeat when we can eat to compensate for the loss of nutrition which leads to lots of bloating and weight gain. Plus all the meds. A lot of people think I can’t be that sick if I keep gaining weight - but its much more complicated than that. Glad you found a way to be healthy and happy in your body after such a rough pregnancy. I’m hoping to be able to do that too, as my nr 1 worry right now is just staying healthy and having a healthy baby.
I started being vegtarian and I have already lost 30 lb. Feeling better than ever! If anyone else is looking into loose weight or just wanting to feel more healthy and more energy I recommend you try looking into vegetarianism aswell 💜
I found your channel through Catherine from Do It On a Dime. This is the first video that popped up for me from you. I too suffered through two pregnancies with severe Hyperemesis. I have been struggling with my weight and the effects from all the medicines. So many people don’t understand what it is and it’s hard trying to find a program that will work for me. I will definitely do my research and give it a try. So happy to have finally found someone who understands 😭😭
Tomorrow I am starting this. No excuses. I can't seem to drop the weight. I am tired of feeling uncomfortable in my own body. Wish me luck! Maybe I will check in. This way of eating also seems to relieve the stress of what will I eat three times a day, now I just have to plan one meal.
Yes please share what you eat on a daily basis, maybe even weekly, if possible. I can use the inspiration! I’ve been trying to do clean fasting as well, but I never know what to make, especially for family meals!
Jordan Syatt and Six Miles To Supper are two channels that helped me learn about IF and they answered a lot of questions I had. I was excited to hear that you did IF too! I like this style and it helped curb my late night binge fests. Lol
Don’t forget y’all....when doing any fasting, you need to drink more water than you think as food has a lot of moisture and not eating you’ll need more fluids...IF is awesome! 2/3 day water fasts are great once a month, and once a year try to do a full week( but add some salt to your water so you don’t get the gitters) She mentioned drinking some, but you need more than you think lol , like 3/4 gallon a day or 3 Litres.
Perfect video! I've held onto my baby weight since my 3rd kid, gained and lost the baby weight from #4, but haven't changed much since (well, ok, I gained 10 lbs). This is what I needed to hear and try to implement during my busy, busy life (like you, homeschooling, volunteering for our statewide homeschooling organization, running the household, etc, all with fibromyalgia, yeah, it's a lot of work). I wanted to try the 131 method from Chalene Johnson, but it seems really awesome, but I don't have time to buy the right ingredients and such. I can eat a cleaner lifestyle (I've done a couple of whole 30's), but have to put my mind to it. but after reading Chalene's chapters on intermittent fasting and now this video, I think this little (or big step) is something I can try, bit by bit, by closing the eating window. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing. These kind of videos are helpful because it gives us insight to what you have done, gives us something to try, but we also know you aren't perfect either (I'm also thinking of the one that talks about you not having a nanny or maid and how your husband has only been home full time for the past 1 or 2). I think it dispels the assumptions we make. One question I hope you answer in the q and a is what your exercise routine is or isn't. I haven't heard you mention it or seen you do it in the vlogs. No need to tell us what program, but I'd like to know if that was a factor in your weight loss. Diet and exercise are both important, and I've only focused on diet, although I've tried to do a few exercise things but then I get too sore because of the fibro and then I give up, sigh. Anyway, thanks again for sharing! You are such an awesome vlogger! and those little insights into your homeschool day are some of my favorite moments (b/c not many vloggers are homeschoolers). Thanks!
This is so so fascinating! I've had friends do IF before, but never really understood the "why" or science behind it. I'm going to have to look into this! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge! ❤
You look amazing Angela, thanks for making this video! :) The Buddha's Diet, a book written by Tara Cottrell, explains intermittent fasting effectively too. Remember that the real Buddha was very slim!
Thank you for your share Ang. 👍🏻 I’ve had such a battle with weight and body image my whole life and eventually turned to weight loss surgery. Now, like most things, i don’t make small decisions and it was the same with my wls- I chose the Cadillac of wls called a duodenal switch & have had complications from month 8 on... Basically, I starve to death even when eating. Which sneaks up in what appears to be weight gain but actually is swelling from malnutrition and it took a couple bouts of this for me to realise what was going on. The intestinal rearranging which was extreme comparatively to GBS or other malabsorptive + stomach reducing surgeries- so the breakdown should’ve been basically this: stomach cut down to a sleeve and my intestines rearranged from the top of my duodenum to cause 50% protein malabsorption and about 80% fat malabsorption. My body simply wouldn’t and couldn’t keep up with basic nutrition and I’ve had this surgery- the intestines portion revises surgically two times in order to save my life. It appears the last time helped but I still battle to stay with my chin barely above water. But back to the swelling and sudden weight gain and dealing... Imagine, starving but feeling REALLY FAT. yea... I’d feel like that and have a PICC line pumping nutrition into my body 12 hours a day via TPN. There’s a whole heap of mental work that has to be done to force oneself to NOT think about anything but health when you feel this sudden ballooning of your own body. I can only imagine that trying to stay nourished for the sake of two babies in you plus the family is great motivation but also hard to share you feel so big, when most people will say... oh don’t worrry about THAT right now. Okay but you don’t t know what it feels like to know you’ve gained 40 lbs in 10 days! I said all that to say- I totally get your story and feelings from that timeline and understand the struggle. You’ve done amazing!!! Your body doesn’t even hint that you’ve struggled or had twins now. My last revision, my surgeon offered to give me a tummy tuck at the same time for little to nothing since this has to be a big open incision and it’s done great things for my confidence to have that extra skin and stretch marks removed off my small frame now. Truly, unless you told someone, they’d never know you’ve been even slightly heavier.
I have degenerative arthritis, and live in chronic pain. I choose not to medicate for that pain or for the joint deterioration. IF is the ONLY thing out of dozens of things that reduces inflammation, clears my brain fog (I also have chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia), gives me energy, and makes me feel good.
Forcing yourself to eat breakfast when you didn’t want it was just adding more calories you didn’t need! Smart plan ! I tend to not want food in the morning so I may try this! Is tea with nothing the same as coffee? I drink tea
You make this sound so doable!!!! I have been looking for something to help me jump start again with my weight loss. I love my coffee protein shake in the morning but I think I could wait a couple hours to start it. So maybe a 10-7 eating window would work for me. I could probably even do 10-6 bc I eat dinner with my parents a lot and they eat early. I am really bad at thinking that since I ate dinner early I will for sure need a bowl of cereal before bed. If I could get out of that mindset then that would help. Also I think I should snack more in between meals so that I don't a) overeat at dinner or b) feel hungry before bed. Can't wait to see the q&a video! Thanks for sharing.
Where you doing exercise in the same time while IF? It sounds interesting. I also can't have breakfast because I am not hungry. Thank you for the video. Very well explained.
I have been 20/4, 18/8 or 18/6 for four years. I clean fast. I eat low carb during my eating window because it makes fasting easier. I went from 215 to 135 in the first 7 months and have not regained any back. Before IF I tried everything. I counted every calorie and never lost a lb.
very interested in this video, but i want to say that i appreciate the beginning of the video SO MUCH. The disclaimer of EDs. I suffered from disordered eating in the past and I did try IF and i loved it as well. It was also working, BUT i realized while doing so that a lot of the negative thoughts and feelings from my past were coming up. Being recovered for many years, i was able to recognize and stop myself from continuing for this reason. Thank you so much for the warning.
Intermittent fasting works. Because of a life-threatening medical condition, I put on 80 pounds. Having Hashimoto's also didn't help.I started Intermittent Fasting Oct. 1 and since then, even with Thanksgiving and Christmas, I've lost over 25 pounds. I was told not to eat if you're not hungry. With healthy fats added to my diet, I've taken my 18/6 to 20/4 about a third of the time. There is a great app for tracking IF. It's called Zero. And though I still have another 80 pounds to go, I'm feeling skinnier. And I love the way you explained the ideal weight.
I have never heard of intermittent fasting before, I’ve always struggled with my weight , I tend to boredom eat a lot! I’ve tried loads of different diets I’ve done quite a bit of research since watching this video and I’m looking forward to trying it thank you for sharing Angie! Xx
Angela, thanks for sharing your story. I had a similar experience, losing the baby weight -- and ending up 10 lbs lower than I've been in decades -- through intermittent fasting. I fast on the other side of the day, not eating from 5pm-7am. It's so interesting, I wasn't actually trying to lose that last bit of weight; it's just that our family's schedule changed and they were eating dinner before I got home, and I found if I ate enough in midday/afternoon, I wasn't actually hungry in the evening. I was so surprised to find that I was down from 180 to 170, and have stayed there consistently for months now. But my intermittent fasting seems to be what did the trick!
Thank you so much for sharing this. Once I saw this video I decided to give it a try. My daughter (second biological child) is 9 months old, and I’ve really struggled to lose pregnancy weight this go round. I breastfeed so most diets scared me because I didn’t want my supply to drop. I’ve done this a little less than 2 weeks now (and have cheated my time a little a few days), and I’m down 5.5 lbs. my stomach is noticeably smaller, and I’m very optimistic that this is a change I can make!
Thank you for sharing this! I have been having such a hard time losing the last bit of baby weight and so far this system has been helping me, so thank u for talking about this, I haven’t heard about it before
Been IF for two weeks now and feel fabulous.. only lost four pounds but I have had many compliments on how I look! 🤷🏻♀️... Had a very terrible cheat day with sugar and alcohol and I felt HORRIBLE.. can't wait to start my week fresh after a bad day!
This video is older so you may not even see this but I'd love to see a video of what you eat in a day once you break your fast. Like do you eat what you feed your kids or make your own meal? A day in the life what i eat would be good.
Intermittent fasting is great! You will see the difference in your clothes before you see it on the scale. Clean fasting is black coffee, black tea or water during your "closed window" time frame.
I have noticed by overall health improve and my skin is clear and glowing. I started 8/24/19 with a group at work that started way ahead of me. I can control my times and have lost 24lbs
I read Delay, Don't Deny. Started only a few weeks ago... I haven't lost much weight but my energy is thru the roof and I feel so much better. It's a slow journey sometimes, but it's a WOL not a diet, and about whole body health and not just weight loss. Glad to hear that it's working for you!! :)
I relate to a lot of these. I have to be gluten free due to a medical condition which has been hard but in the long run it has helped me so much to have a healthier lifestyle with more vegetables and whole foods. I also didn't want to hop from one diet to the next like everyone seems to do so I've been trying for several years to just improve my choices and I've found just in general only eating when I'm hungry which apparently happens to include intermittent fasting maintains weight really well for me. I've also discovered in the last month or two that fast food and lots of sugar is so bad for my face. I had such bad hormonal acne since my Twins were weaned 6 months ago so I ended up drastically reducing the amount of fast food i was eating and it disappeared almost immediately. It's definitely not easy to always keep up with a healthy lifestyle but at least I've found what works for me right now.
We Muslims do fast from sunrise to sunset in ramadan month every year And its sunnah to break your fast on water or dates . Also we fast every Mondays and Thursday but its saunnah ( which mean its not a must but we do it as our prophet did it )
I haven’t lost the baby weight either...and that “baby” is 11 🤔😭
Kristin ♥️🥰🥰❤️
I have two first time lost all but second time not so much..
Mine are 14 and 9 lol xx started uk size 12 went up to 20 with first then down to 14 then up to 24 and cannot lose it at all xx
As a person with an eating disorder, your disclaimer at the beginning really touched my heart. Thank you for including it.
I just started intermittent fasting. I honestly feel better than I have in years! I’ve lost about 8lbs in 2 weeks.
It would be so awesome if you could do a video on your clean fasting what I eat in a day!!
K S , oh, I second this, Angie!
Thank you for the eating disorder disclaimer. You are such a conscientious and kind woman
I had to rewatch this video to convince myself to stop putting creamer in my coffee. I’ve been doing IF for 2 weeks. Creamer is the one thing that’s hard to give up. 😅
I so appreciate your disclaimer at the beginning.
I love this style of video !! It feels just like we're friends chit chatting! You look great! Definitely going to look into it!

Are you doing the 16/8? My digestive system is a hot mess. I would so love to heal it.
"A busted can of biscuits"
I love it
That's what I feel like
Thanks for the nudge to reconsider intermittent fasting! You inspire me
When you don’t feel like a busted can of biscuits 😂 made me laugh so hard! So happy for your success! You are beautiful at every stage ❤️
Would it be possible for you to do a video on what healthy meals you are eating with your intermittent fasting? Thanks.
Your hair looks so good
Thank you!!
I have lost 30 pounds in 7 months intermittent fasting! Hoping to lose about 20 more! It has been the easiest way I have ever tried to lose weight..
Yesssss “skinny is a feeling”- girl yes. I totally totally agree. I felt that way when I lossed my baby weight after Jude too. Your girl is still trying 2 years after Ingrid though... LOL!
I swear- the older I get, the harder it gets too! 🤣
“Busted can of biscuits” 😂😂😂
You look EXACTLY like Scarlett Johansson! 😍

Love this video. Yes, cellulite goes away more too while fasting.
Also, my skin glows.

How sweet of you to say- I find my own voice annoying 😂 when I have to edit 2-3 videos at a time I’m so sick of myself by the end 🤣

Love this thank you, you addressed weight loss so graciously.
Not to hate or anything... YOU. ARE. BEUTIFUL!!!!!! You are a legit queen and don’t let rude comments shoot you down😘❤️
Me and my hubby both intermittent fast. I went down a skirt size and lost quite a few inches and my hubby has lost 50 lbs so far. We also eat healthy

Good for you! It's crazy that not only did you lose weight, but you also look so much younger! Beautiful both ways ofcourse!
Good for you! That is definitely an awesome accomplishment to be able to know what works for your body at its best!
Yess!! I’ve been dying for this video!! Thank you so much for sharing!! You look AMAZING btw! 💘💘
Thanks you are a inspiration. I told my husband how you give me ambition that if you can do it with 8 I should have no excuses. Thanks for sharing.
I noticed you were glowing in your recent IG posts! ❤️❤️❤️ you are simply beautiful ❤️
Yes please share what you eat on a daily basis, maybe even weekly, if possible. I can use the inspiration! I’ve been trying to do clean fasting as well, but I never know what to make, especially for family meals!
Angela Your hair looks amazing! And I love your voice 😍
I love how you talked about this, being mindful of mental health . You are awesome !
You are so gorgeous both inside and out. Thank you for sharing this bit of information about clean fasting.
“Gotta eat your wheaties!” Haha SO TRUE! Lol you look so great ang!!
team braniff office looks ahmazing!
Thanks for the update. Keep up the hard work Angie!!
Btw I'm calling it... 100k subs by 2021... Roaring 20s here comes Ange!
Love this. I've intermittent fasted before and it IS very effective. And 100% "skinny is a feeling".
Thanks!
You look so good!! I’ve been doing IF for a month now. Clean fasting. I’m seeing the benefits!
You look amazing your hair looks so great now,I love the color and cut! I have been watching your other channel and I am new to this one!!!
Thanks for the intro about weight loss not being the be all end all. ❤❤❤❤
I drink tea
I do green tea & straight black "Earl Grey" or "English Breakfast" and do believe it works the same as simply having the black coffee😋~:)
You look stunning in that color!
Thank you!
Loooved this. You’re a superb speaker. Thank you😽😽
Where you doing exercise in the same time while IF?
Thank you so much for the warning.
omg you looked so good with the weight on too! I hope this didn't come out the wrong way, but you looked like a young girl with a rounder face!
Busted can o' biscuits! That is so funny!
Intermittent fasting, low carb diet and apple cider vinegar worked for me! I lost all my baby weight in 4 months.
I have never heard of intermittent fasting before, I’ve always struggled with my weight , I tend to boredom eat a lot! I’ve tried loads of different diets I’ve done quite a bit of research since watching this video and I’m looking forward to trying it thank you for sharing Angie! Xx
Check out videos by Dr. Berg..intermittant fasting
You look phenomenal! 🙌 well done ❤️
You look fantastic, thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing this. Once I saw this video I decided to give it a try. My daughter (second biological child) is 9 months old, and I’ve really struggled to lose pregnancy weight this go round. I breastfeed so most diets scared me because I didn’t want my supply to drop. I’ve done this a little less than 2 weeks now (and have cheated my time a little a few days), and I’m down 5.5 lbs. my stomach is noticeably smaller, and I’m very optimistic that this is a change I can make!
Thank you for sharing this! I have been having such a hard time losing the last bit of baby weight and so far this system has been helping me, so thank u for talking about this, I haven’t heard about it before
"A busted can of buiscuts" 😂 If I could describe this last trimester of my pregnancy, this would be it.
"Busted can of biscuits"!!! I started intermittent fasting in January and I can't believe the unexpected benefits.
You are soooo eloquent! Great video thanks! Love from Germany
Very honest u r ......wish u great success
Thank you for this! I'm planning to try this after my baby is born.
"Busted can of biscuits", haha I love it! thanks for the video mama!
We Muslims do fast from sunrise to sunset in ramadan month every year
And its sunnah to break your fast on water or dates .
Also we fast every Mondays and
Thursday but its saunnah ( which mean its not a must but we do it as our prophet did it )
Good for you for Adopting YOU ARE AMAZING.
Yes! This works for me too... 100% agree!
