What I really liked about your video is that you kept the part where the file took too long to load and ended in an error. Most people would just cut it and pretend nothing wrong happened, making us that are watching feel kinda stupid when we actually try to do it and fail (since, for some reason, everything always goes wrong with the poorly optimized programs us architects are stuck with). But you actually kept it and showed how normal getting errors is and that made the whole difference for me.
That's really good to hear that you enjoyed it Pedro. You're totally right! Everyone comes across errors with programs. There's no point cutting them out! Thanks for commenting mate :)
I forgot how to do this, I remembered how to export the Revit file into a format I could open it in Rhino, and made the modifications I wanted, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to import it back in, and I noticed since I imported it back and did not move anything from the Rhino Model, when I imported it back, it was put into place already. Thank you so much my dude, you saved me hours of trying to figure this out on my own, and my façade is looking amazing in Revit now.
You don't even get how much this helped I had a residential project made in rhino and had to redo it for a different class on Revit i'm so happy I saw this fr.
Oh, and big tip: you CAN link in rhino files. if you are exporting only certain objects, like in your video, you can link in the exported 3dm file. then whenever you need to update it, save over the file you have linked into revit and reload it
I tried to import a simple file with some progressive curves ... but it just says the model is empty.... I can open in any other software and it looks fine. Revit just kicks it out error says "file is empty"... Revit 2022
Hi Chris, thanks for watching! It shouldn't make a difference. Though, I haven't tried it with the latest versions of Rhino/Revit. Would love to know if you give it a try :)
Thank you for this very helpful video! I have one question for you, after importing the from Rhino to Revit is there a way to apply materials to the imported model in Revit? I would like to apply Revit materials to the imported file!
You can change the project units in Rhino and Revit. Make sure they are both set to cm. When exporting and importing, make sure the export model's units are set to cm.
Hi Najva, you won't find it under VG. If you go to the manage tab > object styles (settings panel), you'll find the imported files list on the furthest tab to the right.
@@kylesinko sorry to bother you again. Surprisingly I couldn't find it on the object style list either. The same exact list in VG. Any idea? btw I am currently using 2020 version. Thanks in advance
You would have to export the individual components from Rhino separately and import them one at a time. You can't explode the group in Revit unfortunately
Hello guys, Project to Surface tool missing? How can open again. Cause i must use the project tool when i'm doing 3d model on rhino. Please somebody helps me!
@@kylesinko Hello, typing "projetct" on the command line doesn't work. I need to close this command while drawing a 3d, but i should open when i draw plan. And I couldn't find it in settings. It stays open on the bottom line of your screen. :(
thank you all your videos, are very easy to understand. i have been looking at various tutorials on using rhino inside revit, which would make the work flow even easier. however all the available videos seems to be about grasshopper, inside rhino, inside revit. please if you are able to, create a content on simply the workflow of rhino inside revit. thanks
Hay alguna forma de importar una superficie de Civil 3D a Rhino? Si alguien sabe por favor me sería de gran ayuda. How to export a surface from Civil 3D to Rhino? Please help me Bro.
you saved me a lot of hours of work ahaha I wanted to give you a like but you have 420 and i don't want to mess up that number so this is my thank you message
Thanks for the comment Hakan. There are many reasons why it might not work, making it very difficult to pinpoint it down. I would try by isolating different parts of your model and exporting/importing them one at a time. That way you can work out which geometry is causing the issues. Let us know if you solve the problem!
great but how do you paint them in revit and have them keep their materials assigned within revit???????? not bringing materials from rhino to revit, but bringing geometry from rhino into revit and using revit materials on rhino geometry. I bet you 100 doge coin you can't make a video on this.
Thanks for your video. But, sorry to say this but from a professionnal point of view this is the worst way you can do it. Importing and exporting from rhino to revit or revit to rhino IS REALLY NOT recommended. You will lose the bim data and model structure. Check out things like rhino inside revit, grevit and elefront for a more serious an reliable workflow.
You are completely right. Rhino objects will not be imported as Revit components. It's a solution for those who want to quickly import a rhino model that has already been created. I would suggest instead modelling it natively inside of Revit or using a plugin as you suggested to work seamlessly between the two. Thanks for sharing Raouf!
I didn't know why I could not import my file from Rhino 7 to Revit 2019 with type under *Rhino 3D m, so I change it into type ACIS(*.sat) then It worked LOL

Thanks for the demo. Does it make a difference if your Rhino model is constructed in NURBS or Polygons?

Hi Kaveh, did you figure out how to apply materals? If yes, please can you let me know how? Thank you
hello, when I throw it from rhino to revit, it comes much bigger than rhino, what can I do?
May I ask how to rebuild the control point to fit the revit model standard?
my rhino model doesn't look correct when i cut sections etc. it's so strange. any ideas?
I would try adjusting the clipping plane's properties
Life saver! Thank you for creating this video!!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching
how do i edit the design in revit to function well as a building? could u cover that pls
what if you have to have a really complex geometry for example a triangulated structure from grasshopper
I would probably look at using the inbuilt plugin of rhino in Revit to do that. Otherwise, the process is exactly the same
In my 3d model in rhino, I have a bunch of arches with pipe sections which honestly is complex. how do u make your file to be cleaner?
In revit 2022 you can directly link .3dm files now! Till 2021 version this wasn't available.
Correct! I haven't played around with it much but it seems to work well.
i have problems with units. I want to import a model from rhino to revit in centimeter unit but revit dont take it . heeelp

You can change the project units in Rhino and Revit. Make sure they are both set to cm. When exporting and importing, make sure the export model's units are set to cm.

great video! hey can i add materials to this models if i import them as 'mass' or theres any way i can add materials??
Absolutely you can. You can either change the material under Object Styles or you can convert each imported geometry to a mass
Thanks man. It really helped me out!
I’m glad! Thanks for watching Raul :)
