Was stationed at Norton Bks 1971 & loved the Bks which is rare in soldiering & also Worcester, married there till 1986, worked at Berrows Newspapers & miss the place every day & my ashes will be scattered there.
I love that song Autumn Leaves. It always makes me think of longing for times past and of the loss of those I have loved who are now gone. Quite melancholy really.
My grand mother inherited those run down buildings next to the Paul Pry and couldn't afford to do anything with them..they got sold for a tiny sum as the worry of their state and the cost of demolition worried her greatly.
I understand that the condition of many of these terraced houses was very poor and at the time it must’ve seemed that demolition was the only option. I cannot but reflect that had wiser counsel prevailed as it would today many of these buildings would’ve been saved and we would’ve had a much nicer city. Rose tinted spectacles I know. But I am reminded of the motto of Banks‘s brewery. “Unspoilt by progress“
Wow - I have no recollection of the passenger overbridge at Foregate Street station. Do you happen to know when that was demolished? I guess the photo would be between 1958 and 1965 judging by the DMU.
loved it but the song reminded me of earth song by michael jackson as that would of fitted well as well but obviously copyright but the song used was lovely

Carden Street was where my Mother was born in 1933 and Padmore Street was where my Grandmother had a real gypsy caravan caravan which she lived in!
