I have a similar technique😂 pry up 2 or 3 tabs with a small flat head screwdriver, then I insert a 2 prong pry tool below the washer and just use the flat head to spin the washer, acting like your "unscrewing" it
Great Video mate and just what I was looking for having bought a used set of trims in Space Gray for my E61 (with a number of broken fixings!) Thanks for sharing!
@@davidrussellwilks I actually did like in your video, put a screw in, turns out, when you break the clips on the back, it creates a perfect hole for the screw just like on your black panels
I am looking at the schematics, but cannot for the life of me find what the oem star washers are attached to! I'm looking for the plastic bits but cannot find them anywhere. Would you know the oem or alternative? I bought a used E60 and all the decor trims were loose so I took them out to find out there was nothing holding them on. I want to try your method but would like to try and find the oem parts first. Any advice? Thank you.
The plastic pegs only come with the complete trim panels, they cannot be purchased separately. Depending on the trim you have, you'll need something like BMW Part no 51416983763 (This is the front door piece). If there is still some of the peg or hole remaining the screw method works well, failing that I could only suggest trying to glue them in place
Nice idea about the screws, but it's cheaper and more OEM to reuse the washers. I just use an 8mm socket and bash them in, they will bite real hard like from the factory
Personally I would buy the correct star clips from BMW: 52207115704. However they are a bit expensive, you may find an M5 star washer could be used instead.
It's always worth disconnecting the battery if one is going to unplug any part of the airbag system. You do run the risk of triggering a fault light otherwise.

Glad I could help Justin! I struggled to find a video that covered these trims.
Great video! Exactly what I needed.
Great to hear! Many thanks
Thank You for this Video, this Video helped me a lot🤝🏽
Glad it helped!
Didnt remove the door card, just pried on the decorative panel and the clip on the back broke. What are my options?
@@CarlAlin if you have no pegs on the trim the only option is to try and glue it to the door trim

@@CarlAlin Excellent, if you still have some of the clip remaining the screws works perfectly.
Does someone knows the lenght and size of the screws please? Thanks

Hello, I didn't know that I needed to remove the pannel first to remove to trim. I break those mountains. Is there any way to repair them?
If the plastic peg parts are missing, gluing the trim in place may be your only option?

I would always reuse the star washer if I could, but if the pedestal part is damaged a screw seems the next best thing.
Do you have a link to the washers?

Hi, what can I do if all clips are damaged and no plastic pins/pegs
You may find glueing the trims in place is the only solution?
if you don't have a star, but those plastic holders are, how would you suggest to fasten them?

Do I need to unplug the battery for this?

can you remember the screw size and length?😅
