Thank you, Henry Pollack! I had to leave my country of birth at a very young age... your video has brought a very sentimental "dejavu"... our home was in the Vedado section on L Street between 17 and 19... very close to the FOCSA Building and the beautiful Malecon. Blessings to you and your family. Most sincerely, ScpdeS, "Bisabuela Santiaguera y Republicana" - July 22, 2016 - Miami, Florida U.S.A.

Please don't ever be foolish enough to think that this could not happen here. Many men have taken countries down basically single handed.
As I sit here watching this with tears going down my face I feel all kinds of emotions. Although, I was only 5 years old when I came to this country there is always something about your roots that pull on your heart. I feel sadness and anger at the same time. Sadness for all the people (including my parents) that had to leave their homes, their way of life behind. I feel sadness for the people in Cuba that have nothing to live for now. I feel anger that 1 man could do this to a country and could not and has not been stopped.

Very well done, thank you for informing us of all the great things Cuba was. It's a shame of what Cuba is now.

The revolution stopped cuba from being a power house nation in the Caribbean. I love watching these old documentaries but notice how you don't see black people

felipe Rodriguez, The mayority of whites and educated blacks left the island in 1960-1963. The few whites who stayed have been leaving since then. The very small amount who didn't leave have been mixing with blacks. Black genes are the strongest of all, follow by oriental first, then the other races. In the 50's our population was about 30% blacks and 70% whites (aproximate) today is more like 95% blacks. It is a very strong gene.

+Naticris Tellavi you are right, the white gene is stronger in Europe because the black gene hates cold

Felipe Rodriguez, actually there was a rather large black and oriental population in Cuba. During slavery Cuba was one, if not the predominant, slave trade centers in the new world, which gave rise to it's black population. There was even a Chinatown (El Barrio Chino) in Havana. My mother traveled to the US in the mid 50's and was surprised to to see the effect of segregation in the buses. I am white, my first and middle name are in honor of both one black and one Chinese men whom considered my grandfather no only a business associate but family.

Get this, the suffering of Cubans is inside and outside de island. After severl years of not being able to communicate with my family I got in touch again last month. We have been talking very little by phone calls due to the high cost per minute (the highest in the world) so I text them an the answer with emails. Today I tried to text as I have been done for the past 3 weeks and received this message: "Free Msg: Unable to sen message - Message Blocking is active."
I tried sending texts from different phone #s and from different area code #s and received same message of blocking is active.
Can somebody tell me how to unblock this? Is this happened to anyone here? I would like to know how to avoid this from happening again in case and can get connected again. Thank you

I have gone against believing in all the negative about Castro for so long, party because of brain washing as i grew up there in the 80's 90's and i was just a kid that grew up with the doctrines the communists taught kids in school. However as i have grown older i have opened my eyes and realized what a piece of s...the castros where and are, what a joke, if he ever had the interest of people at heart he never showed it. First of all, how dare him take away the possessions of people that worked so f....hard all their lives and broke their backs to make it, my great aunt's husband worked so hard in the fields when he was young at a farm and saved money and bough his own farm with live stock, opened up a bar after, and had some other investments, all earned with hard non stop work, what did the communists do? take absolutely everything away, they died in their 80's poorer than anyone i knew, starving, malnourished, lived in a crap hole of a house, and my family would actually give them food and take care of them. My god how has this lasted so many years!

Wendy, it is called Dictatorial government, that is why had last. All dictators in history had been taken down when other countries allied against the dictator. Cubans had fighting alone, inside an island that is like a giant jail where those whose scape don't want to go back. It is a very sad story that of our motherland.

Wonderful video, makes me love the Real Cubans even more--Thank you for your love and forgiveness my brothers and sisters--I now see what was taken by the the greed and hatred of men.
I am so glad that I have Cuba in my heart and that my friends and church family there are so loving and faithful to our God through His son Jesus--can't wait until I see you all again.
What God is doing in Cuba will soon be felt over all the world--Love shall finally overcome the hate!
