All My Children "Gallop" Opening, April 2002 Update: Kendall Returns With A New Face

Sarah Michelle Gellar originated the role of Kendall Hart in the mid-1990s, then went on to mainstream fame. Eventually, AMC decided to bring the character back, and in February 2002 did so in the form of Alicia Minshew. Also added to Version 1 is Sam Page (Trey Kenyon III), who, like Minshew, joined AMC in February 2002.
Minshew/Kendall takes the place of Cady McClain (Dixie Cooney), who departed AMC for the second time in late February 2002-meaning McClain/Dixie was out of the opening before her final airdate! Meanwhile, Page/Trey replaces Mark Pinter (Roger Smythe), who after joining AMC on recurring status in January 2001, went on-contract a month later. Pinter was taken off-contract in December 2001 (and killed off entirely in July 2002).
In Version 2, with a little shuffling from Julia Barr (Brooke English), Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie Stone) has replaced Laura Allen (Laura Kirk English), who left AMC in January 2002 after about 15 months. Hendrickson had previously played Maggie's twin Frankie Stone (on a recurring basis) in 2001; she returned to AMC as Maggie in early February 2002.
Additionally, Jack Scalia (Chris Stamp) and Vincent Irizarry (David Hayward) are swapped between Versions 1 and 2, presumably to place Irizarry/David near his love interest Finola Hughes, who after playing Alexandra Devane full-time 1999-2001 was now playing Alex's twin Anna Devane-albeit without an updated image.
