Sync-corrected version of HHT's Orphan Lament from Fantasy Studios, 2008. Fantastic piece featuring stellar vocal performance by Kaigal-ool Khovalyg, and great igil and byzaanchi playing.
Damn... Got goosebumps and tears... And I have no idea what the are singing. What a wonderful thing music is. Thanks for sharing this with us Steve. Love you since your work for Dragon Rising. I wish you'd be still active here...
I'm an orphan; I'm alone. Pity I didn't die as a baby. If I had died as a baby, I never would have suffered. I am the loneliest. Pity I didn't die in my cradle. If I had died in my cradle, I wouldn't have suffered. Pity the baby birds, Left without a nest. Pity a baby, Left without a mother One's fate, One cannot change it. My departed mother, Nothing can bring her back
Beautiful song, I've never really listened to throat singing, had no idea what was being sung but yet this managed to tap in accurately to feels of loss and sadness in me. I was amazed when i saw the lyrics translated. Thank you for creating such powerful music.
If you are interested in this, you should hear the version together with The Bulgarian Voices Angelte on the CD "Legend". They are not Mongols, Tuvan Turks live in Siberia.

They are Turkic and this is pure Turkic culture, not the greek perso arabic.
