Quick Explanation for anyone curious: Most QR Codes have some amount of parity bits contained within them, which is why most will still scan as long as you don't cover too much of it. When making QR Codes, some tools even allow you to specify the amount of parity information contained, at the cost of a bigger QR Code. The algorithm used to create parity data when the code is created is called the Reed-Soloman Error Correction algorithm. These are the levels of error correction: - Level L will correctly scan a code with 7% unreadable data - Level M will correctly scan a code with 15% unreadable data - Level Q will correctly scan a code with 25% unreadable data - Level H will correctly scan a code with 30% unreadable data.
