This is the most complete and honest review that i have seen. You save me money bc i have a teenager but there is no way i like that resort. i like the music and fun but the crowded places are a nightmare for me and also i like the building type hotel, no ton of walking. Thanks you!!!!
We have been and we will be going back for spring vacation. The reason we pick The Grand is they have so many gluten free options for my 2 family members that have celiac traveling with the food restrictions is always our biggest challenge. In addition to all the fun outdoor activities,my kids love the bowling ,mini golf and arcade. Bonus that the food and spa are good. The big negative for me is definitely the beach. However, we will definitely spend a day at the sunrise Beach hotel.
Thanks for providing great reviews: It is very helpful in figuring out which resorts not to stay at. However, as I watch each video, I see one of the cons and think, "wow - glad I didn't book that one as it would have been a huge disappointment. So, I'm asking you to recommend which resort would you recommend for us. We will be a family of 3 - Parents in their 50's but youthful for our age. 22 year old daughter coming with us for college graduation celebration. What is most important to us: Amazing pool with style (not just a square or oval, etc.). We love to look at the ocean; but prefer swimming in a pool, views of the best turquoise water that Cancun has to offer (not brown, murky water), a place that has filtered water that is safe to consume without getting the M. Revenge, we tend to prefer larger resorts as we really enjoy walking around the grounds / exploring and there is usually more variety (more restaurant choices, etc.) at bigger resorts, a location that makes it easy to do some shopping and other things outside the resort (walkable is best), night life; but not crazy night life - we don't want sleepy town that shuts down at 10pm but we also don't want spring break central with college frat boys puking off the balconies at 3am, we are not foodies; so we don't care about fine dining. We do, however want to be able to have some non disgusting food even if at a buffet setting or very casual restaurant. In particular, we are a bit afraid to eat off-site for fear of having issues with the water, etc. The room is not the most important thing - as long as it is comfortable and clean, we're ok if it's on the small side. Finally, we prefer places that have a good number of air conditioned indoor spaces and restaurants. While the open air is nice, the heat can be oppressive in June in Mexico and we like to have a break from it outside of our room. Also, it's nice to eat without bugs and birds attacking our plates and biting us. We are willing to go to the $800/night price point (for 3 all inclusive) which would bring our total trip cost to about $5,000 including taxes and fees if there was a place that had all of the above. However, we'd love to keep it lower (closer to $600 if possible). We are going in June. Given all of this, is there a particular resort you recommend we consider.
Thank you so much for watching! You might want to look at Barcelo Maya Riviera. We did a review way back so it’s a little amateur. You could take a taxi to Playa Del Carmen but there’s nothing within walking distance although it’s part of a huge resort that you would have access to. Also Hyatt Ziva in hotel zone!! Very nice and the bluest turquoise waters and you can walk and take the bus to places in the hotel zone! If you need help booking email us 3days3noches@gmail.com
Arrecifes at Nizuc is the best restaurant IMO. It's a Brazilian Steakhouse that brings large swords with beef, pork, chicken and longaniza sausages. If you leave there hungry, you did something wrong.
Great video you guys. Please tell me this. I have knee issues and going up and down stairs is a problem wirh me. Does this resort have facilities in place (elevators, ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Thanks so much, Steve S
Thank you so much for all the insight, I was interested in staying there but now that I know my son can’t go on the sides due to his age I’ll have to check in elsewhere.
I had my heart set on this place until it was clarified that kids under 10 are not allowed in slides and that would devestate my 5yr old so looking for other options now. Thanks!!
I’ve stayed at Sunrise for a wedding a couple years ago but am going with the family to The Grand in 2 weeks! Thanks for this video! It was very informative.
If you don’t care about the beach then The Grand. Dreams Playa Mujeres also has one - if you don’t need a big water park Hyatt Ziva and Wyndham Altra. These are all different price points too! m.facebook.com/groups/572572378298675/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvF. This is our Facebook group if you want to ask there!
I don’t know what the fees are but they are not included. They may try to give you a free round by sitting in the time share presentation but don’t do it. Plus you would still pay for the cart which is a crazy fee
Thanks for all the helpful info. I can’t stand the smell of the seaweed. We had unpleasant experience when we were in Miami beach. Do you know how to avoid building 94? Or can we request the building closer to the lobby?
I’m here right now… one point of clarification… the photo at 2:15 is actually all the Grand… we hung out at the pool you labeled the sunrise all day today. So, the resort IS large, three times larger than this pic would indicate, in fact!
VERY helpful video! Great tip about the height requirement. My boys would have been in tears if we didn't know that. You said this is not your favorite hotel and likely won't be returning now that your son is older. Can I ask, what is your favorite hotel in the area? We're still knee deep in research and have only booked the airfare so far (not the hotel). TIA!
Thanks for watching!! I was just saying I need to find a hotel similar to Palace that’s a little smaller with a great beach. I can do an email intro if you want who’s a travel agent. She always ate Hard Rock and Hyatt for kids is great too!! 3days3noches@gmail.com
@@3Days3Noches I just booked us for a week in July at the new Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun Resort, my boys saw the water park and I could not pass it up. I was able to reserve a Luxury Suite w/a SwimOut. Super excited!
Also we have stayed there 3 times. The last time we were in building 94 top floor corner room. Excellent location though not a quick walk to th3 main building where all the restaurants are. Each time we were there, they kept hussling us to buy a membership. That is the biggest downside of the Palace hotels.
Hi! How much is a night when You have the membership? I want to travel with My mom but this hotel is way too expensive for us because we're from Colombia. We're looking for options 😅
It depends on where you and which property you stay on but still around $350-500 per night There are so many resorts in Cancun many with budget friendly options! It just depends what you’re looking for. Iberostar is cheaper but I didn’t like it as much but the beach was way nicer. Maybe reach out to a travel agent?
We stayed at Sunrise at Moon palace. Basically the opposite side from where you guys were and we also where on the end where they dump seaweed. The smell was so bad. but the resort was still pretty awesome.
We stayed there last year and the check in Process was horrible. They tried to get us to stay at another property because they over booked the Resort. After about 3 hours we finally got to our room. We are going back there in a week so I hope this will not happen again! The beach does suck but the Kids love the flow rider and the water Park!
Question... I see they have a lot of activities for kids.... but do they actually have a kids facility where you can drop them off for people to watch them like they do on a cruise ..... it seems like an obvious thing they would do
Yes!!! I show that in the full review video! Here’s the tour of the waterpark where it’s located. The other sister resorts have kids clubs too ruclips.net/video/_bRbl2G9KKM/видео.htmlsi=wJTpgTkHVHFQnR5W
My son is 48" but only 8. Are there any slides he can go on? I can't seem to find clear-cut info online. Everything says 10+ but I saw a comment on another site saying their 8-year-old did go on some of the slides. How do they check age?
The aerial shot that you showed on 2:06 where you circled the 3 hotels is not correct. That whole shot is actually all of The Grand and not including Nizuc and Sunrise.
For adults Moon Palace have another hotel named Le Blanc and there they even have a butler for you, so I think that will be a better option if you don't want to be with the kids.
I never heard anyone talk about going to a resort for a casino, after thousands of Videos I watched you mentioned it. that would be the last thing on my mind.
After this review it made me realize I never want to book here because beach is nasty what’s the point of going to beach resort when you can’t swim in there
Another well informed video although this hotel not for me after watching, I did go to the Majestic Mirage in July because of your great review and it was just as you described it and we loved it there, We meet a couple there that who had been going to the Mirage for years but felt it wasn't as good as it used to be and prefer the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya, I just wondered if you have been or plan to do a review there in the future as i truly trust your honest reviews, Cheers keep up the good work !
Just spent 8 days at Grand. The steakhouse is overrated. Cusco and caribeño restaurants were very good. Momo Teppan over at Sunrise was good for the teppan show only, food was blah. Go to Momo Ala Carte next door instead.
The all inclusive is the best way because you can get a real nice one for $200-400 per night per person. We also only travel for 3 nights so that helps with the cost. Basically that’s 4-5 dinners eating out around here lol. Also credit card points for flights!!

We are trying to go here for Xmas with 2 other families. For those who have been to this hotel, do you recommend it? If so why? if not why?
Not if you want a nice beach or hate large crowds
