United fan here but Batistuta, what a LEGEND!!
That goal still haunts me to this day lol, Batistuta was lethal
Batistuta was fookin class. Loved watching him for Argentina and Fiorentina.
Mud and mud is the best thing under this weather today I love ❤️
Batitstuta was a hero of mine as a kid, and his goal here was an example of why. Straight down the middle, but he hit it with so much suprise and power the keeper had no chance.
Batistuta, sweet fucking Jesus. Absolutely wonderful goal
Manchester United fan
Machine used to be a good idea for
These European nights at OT back in the 90s and early 2000s were unbeatable. In a 5/6 year period, United went from tentative underdogs in Europe to champions. So many superstars of that era in fantastic matches. I miss the buzz of big nights like this. It was like going to war.
not even a united fan but i miss them myself. even though universally united were not liked at the time, i still bet 90% of the country wanted you to win. fantastic occasions on itv that anybody could watch. tydlesley and big ron in the gantry. had a special feeling where it felt like the champions league
Ryan Giggs. What a player.
What an atmosphere. I watched this live, at the age of 9....
I loved Batistuta what a player
7:16 to 7:24
Andy Cole - such an underrated baller. 4th in the list of all time PL goals scored (that too with 0 penalties).
This Man Utd team was insane to watch. The football was fast, vertical, rock and roll football. 4 or 5 passes, then a shot at goal!
better gameplay backthen compare to this nowadays hm
Gabriel Batistuta was in the top 3 number 9's in the 90's. Hell of a striker 🔥
With Andy Cole and Ronaldo?
@@WhoTheHellIsHarvy R9 definitely number 1 but Raul in top 3 for me. Cole was class though.
@@WhoTheHellIsHarvy Andy Cole? LOL. he was good, but come on. Probably not even top 20 from that era.
@@WhoTheHellIsHarvy Cole playing in what was a poor/average league for most of the 90s, so he won't be in it.
Best in the 90s were Ronaldo, Romario and Batistuta
Im a United fan and im 32yo's old i remember Batistua's goal like it was yesterday.. i always remember him as a jesus lookalike.. i miss the old united.
Sounds like dementia?? This should not seem like yesterday im sirry to say
@@MrThedonhead hahaha who the f**k are you mate
@@MrThedonhead😂
As much as I always hyped up Batistuta and everyone is giving him plaudits here, look at Andy Cole. What a striker he was, and playing like Del Piero here. What a touch, awareness, range of passing, shooting. What a beast.
Yeah, Bati was more of a power striker. He lacks finesse in dribbling, ball control, passing , but give him enough time and space, hed shoot that rocket
Andy Cole was pure class.
@@eplv3432I can vividly remember when the announcement was made about Kevin Keegan selling him to Utd. Time, place, everything. He was an exciting player! Goal King Cole! Under remembered I reckons
Andy Cole is one of the best striker's we've ever had.
Second highest goals from open play in the entire history of the Premier League #AndrewCole
How I miss these comentators. They made the games soo epic!
The golden age of football. Prime Man Utd vs prime Fiorentina
Arguably the best midfield 4 in modern English club history
Roy Keane was an absolute warrior. He was on a different level to everyone that season.
Rui Costa and Batistuta were gems of players.
Indeed he was. 6 goals and top scorer for United the champions league that season.
And yet you have idiots calling him a dEfEnSiVe mIdFiElDeR
Batistuta !!!!! ❤
Giggs ripped one of the best sides in Europe apart that night
The Winger Giggs was exciting to watch
They were far from one of the best sides in Europe that season. 7th in the league, won 4 of their 12 CL games.
They had a few major stars, but to many average players around them.
That Batistuta goal is beautiful, they don't produce strikers like that anymore.
To be fair, Coles equaliser was just as good.. 👍
@@MrChrisBarkerCole’s equalizer just proved that Toldo made a mistake, he could’ve saved it.
@@Marsbatiif bosnich had just stood there he would have saved the goal
@@MrChrisBarker
Cole's equalizer was from 10 yards closer and bounced 6 times 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@USCFlash accuracy. Just as good as a blast.
Gabriel Batigol what a legend ❤😮
What a player Batistuta was. Fantastic
World class striker. One of the best ever!
Definitely, rarely lauded like he should be.
Told, rui Costa, batistuta, amorusso, Di livio, mijotivic had some real classy players in that team.
The days of 442 playing with two wingers! Missed those days!
I just love that Big Ron is still so obviously in love with the club over decade after he was sacked.
Sebelum jadi fans berat Man United...saya juga penggemar liga italia...Fiorentina zaman itu memang lagi naik daun...saya masih ingat beberapa pemain kuncinya ..seperti Batistuta...Rui Costa...Thomas Repka...Angelo Dilivio...Mauro toricelli...Toldo...dengan pelatih Traptaptoni yg terkenal dgn siulannya...
Fiorentina squad was world class : Toldo, Rui Costa, Mijatovic, Chiesa, Di Livio, Heinrich, Repka & Batigol Prime
Best era of football
Batistuta, a Legend Alive.
After Fiorentina scored the opener it actually awoke Man utd and then a wave of attack after attack just like the great roman armys and greek armys in the battlefields. Such a continuous assault plus the roar of the old trafford crowd it actually drowned the opposition. In this 99 treble winning season utd became titans in the footballing world
what a goal by batistuta
What a midfield we had: Giggs, Keane, Scholes, Beckham. IMO best midfield in the world then.
Batistuta Batistuta Batistuta Batistuta Batistuta the best
I watched this live with friends. We were surprised Rossitto got sent off for that. Sometimes in the EPL, they don't even get booked for it lol. But yeah, nights like that were magical. The passion was just something else.
Batistuta speed of lighting striker. The apex predator of goals.

Gabriel e' LEGGENDA ⚜️💜⚜️
Batigoooooool!!! ❤
Golden age of football and Man Utd.
Cole and Yorke what a feared partnership
Really thus United team should have won at least two UCLs back then they were easily one of the top three teams in Europe and like you said with Cole and Yorke they were feared.
@@anthonymcken6050 for roughly 4/5 seasons we had the best midfield and one of the best forward lines anywhere in the world (first cole and yorke, then van nistelrooy) ... scored goals for fun in the 99-00 season too. Our undoing in the ucl that year, and for a number of years after, was in defence (esp. between the sticks - never replaced schmeichel until van der sar) and incompetent defenders like silvestre. Fergie selling jaap stam and being somewhat naive with his tactics cost us as well. We were at times much too open at the back against the best teams in europe - hence queiroz appointment.
Anyway, the Real Madrid side (who went on to win the cl that millennial year) had no business beating us in the quarters. True, they were clinical with their chances, but rode their luck enormously, as wave after wave of attack crashed against their defence. That night signalled the arrival of casillas who had the performance of his life at the tender age of 17 i believe.
This United side would rip city apart.
The top players were spread out more therefore creating a far number of good sides with an elite player more often,in this case Batistuta
Batigol !!! what a striker
For all the talk of Batistuta, that first goal of Cole's was surgical.
Andy Cole was quality 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'M A BIG FANS OF MANCHESTER UNITED ,IT'S MY LIFE, TO WHEN M.U .PLAY FOOTBALL, I'M BE,HAPPY 😮😮😮
amazing goal by andy cole to put the 1 - 1
THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MATCHES OF ALL TIME. TO WITNESS A BLOCKBUSTER FROM BATIGOL, AND UNITED WIN 3-1. THIS IS WHAT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NIGHTS ARE ALL ABOUT.
That first touch by Andy cole and shot to score was class
When i fell in love with football. Great player's.
Stacked utd team. So pacey and accurate. Had 2 brutes in stam and keane. Flair galore from becks giggs scholes and york and coles were a killer combo up front.
Shame Ron Atkinson got sacked as he was a great commentator and always seemed to be fair for both teams and treated all the players with respect whilst talking about them unlike commentators today like Jenas, Dublin or Wright
Miss football like this, simple but funtastic.
Ryan Giggs is a wonderful footballer
You look at Giggs and then you take a look at the current crop of United wingers and wonder 😂😂😂
Cole is so criminally underrated.
He was truly one of the greatest pure strikers of the 90’s/00’s.
Andy Cole was a baller!
Wow, do I miss these days of United, I’ve been watching a lot of the good old games lately because they’ve been so shit this year, hope they can improve for the rest of this season.
united had no business beating such a strong opposition 3-1. just goes to show how good this united team was then. legends all over the pitch. a far cry from what we see today.
They were far from great that season. 7th in the league, won 4 of their 12 CL games.
They had a few major stars, but to many average players around them.
Great atmosphere, Old Trafford is so quiet now.
Stary,dobry Man United.
I grow up with this team and love this team with all my heart ❤️ United ❤.
Roy Keane leading the goalscorers from Manchester United that season in the Champions League..the captain scored 6...that's fking insane, no wonder why Real Madrid wanted him.
Bayern and Juventus wanted him too.
@@manutdretrorever7z That’s right.

I was there. In the opposite stand where Batistuta scored so had a perfect view of it flying into the net.

Oh the days ❤❤GGMNU SAF 👑 YOU LEGEND SIR MAKING IT ALL HAPPEN THANK YOU
MAN UTD 4 LIFE
listen, that andy cole goal is vasty under rated..world class
Not at all........simple cushion, turn and an instinctive shot into the corner. Pretty basic stuff for any decent striker that. Not denying Cole was a top player, but shots like that should be your basic bread and butter, if you're putting the time in on the training pitch.
This was still a good United team and Bosnich was a decent goalkeeper.....but you could already tell United weren't quite at the level they were at for the previous season.
Schmeichel was a huge player to replace and the dip in quality without him was enormous. The same to a lesser extent is true of Berg instead of Johnsen for this game.
The decline would continue quickly as Stam would leave and various other figures would leave or reach the end of their careers.
9:10 Keane “It’s two yards Gary” moment
Back when the Champions League was a proper tournament.
Correct. Nowadays you won't see a game like this in the groups. It's always 1 good side, 1 mediocre team and 2 farmer teams. It's a joke now I agree. You don't get good matches till at least the quarters now usually
@@arthurmorgan8529 You are right, the tournament now is too big (sponsors! money!, you know)there are too many teams in the supposed League of the Champions; once upon a time they were all great teams, with only 1 smaller in team here and there. That sucks a lot of excitement from the group stage, and you always know who's gonna pass it. Also, having sooo many teams in the UCL means that the Europa League have even worse teams. Bleah
@@arthurmorgan8529 This was the 90s mate that's why there was a depth of top quality in most teams.
@@anthonymcken6050 exactly. The Barcelona team that got knocked out in the 98/99 group stage with xavi and Rivaldo would piss this current tournament without breaking sweat
@@arthurmorgan8529 The 90s is called the 'golden era' of football for a reason by football writers, historians, players and coaches. World Cup 98 remains the best WC I've ever seen.

Knew this was the game where Batistuta scored that absolute banger… saw it as a kid. A seriously underrated player.
Underrated?
Nobody with a brain underrates Batistuta.
There it is. The stupid underrated comment.
Nobody with a brain cell would call him underrated. He was a fucking monster of a striker and well cheered by all.
What's next? Vieri is underrated? We're already starting to see idiots calling Fowler underrated.
The team spirits was another level….but now is just awful

When the CL was a special competition
Giggs and Cole. wow
Back when football was a proper man's game not a fairy's game like now
I'm old enough to remember people calling football a fairy's game back then.
Fantastic United! Amazing performance
Cole was so good. We didn’t know how good we had it at the time. The ground noise and support are amazing too. It dead nowadays
Keep in mind winning the UCL wad very tough for English teams to do compared to today.
Remember watching this when I was 13. Amazing goal by Batigol, but what a game. Love the moment at 10:08 when you can hear Trappatoni going apoplectic at his players, never noticed that before lol. That United team was special. Undone by a very good Real Madrid team in the Quarter finals that year, shame. COYR
The atmosphere was electric even watching this again. Cole and Giggs were on fire that night. This side really should have won another UCL during that era they were sublime.
You would think that now that Man United are the Champions League which means more games for them and it will make their league form drop. It's a complete opposite. It raises their morale which means they will win more matches in the League.
iTV champions league can’t be beat
Batigol ! !
