Battle brothers is a turn based medieval video game where you take a group of mercenaries from 0 to hero. it takes a lot of strategy and planning, and its a very difficult strategy game that will challenge you mentally. However It also has some hidden qualities that will be revealed in this video that keep you hooked.

Medieval gamble core be like: "let us go forth and gamble thy earnings" *wooden clunk* "oh ye brother hath been defeated"
I would get hooked if every single one of my attacks didnt miss
But when they hit 🤌
agreed
@@lrdhsy similar to Jagged Alliance 2 when your mercs actually hit their shots against enemies from afar
Brain hacking is my specialty (lobotomy)
This video made me at the cusp of coming to grips with my battle brother addiction until you charged headfirst into ancient auxiliary’s and now I can’t let a noob tell me what to do
Pro move trust me
Joke's on you. That first contract you can just take the item and run. Tee-hee.
Very cash money of you
Thank you so much! I can now finally gamble to my hearts content without losing my car, house and wife again. Getting the game as soon as I get my pc back from the pawnshop!
You got a sub, i like your editing
damn that sword was really cursed
I sold that on to an unsuspecting customer
Good editing, well paced video. Glad to watch it. If I may make a suggestion, run a de-esser in your editing software, I feel like we're getting a little excess sibilance in the audio. Subbed
Thanks for the advice I’ll definitely do that next time :)
One thing I like about this game, that I think it got from Darkest Dungeon and even Mount and Blade, was how it uses genericism to aid the world-building. With its low-fantasy setting it leans into the theme of "you are not the guy", with bigger fish on the scene you have to run from constantly.
Its refreshing as it aids in the procedural nature of your brothers story, and that they are truly unique and your own, VS an "important" character that has to be unmutable due to a conventional story.
The only real plot device is "make money" which leaves the design of your characters and perspective very open ended. You start as lvl 1 thugs but you have the freedom to become lvl 99 gangsters. But its all a generic setting, so the story is about your play and experience, instead of what a lot of fantasy does which is to plug a pre-written story on top of the setting. The story is simply the rise and fall of your company, its self containted.
However I would say I would have liked some kind of difficulty option that drives the "you are not the guy" theme up to 11 by making the enemy scaling based purely on time, and not on your partys relative strength. By scaling the enemies off of your party, the game mechanics still fall into the trap of accidentally making your company "the chosen one".
I guess you can play with city destruction on to force you to reroll before your guys get powerful enough, but I don't think thats the same.
You’re not that guy pal
Great video as always 😁👍
Thank you Oliver 😁
Gambling, or partial conditioning, is why I stopped playing. The odds are unreasonably stacked against you in Battle Brothers
Yeah it can get rather depressing
I bought this game, literally an hour ago, and youtube recommends me this video. I subbed, and liked. I like your style, and your editing is plenty good enough for you to get big. Keep it up brother.
Thank you for subbing :) hope u enjoy battle brothers it’s a great game
Did you know there is an 'unofficial' mod support, can't wait till you found out about legends its way 'better' than vanilla
I’ll check it out. Is the mod called legends?
@@lrdhsy yeah just search up 'battle brothers nexus mods', you should also try the siege engines mod, I had a lot of fun with the mod, tip: if you have the crossbow mastery perk, you can 'reload' the 'artillery' in one turn instead of waiting two turns
I just hate that the game basically requires you to use a dagger to shank your enemies or you'll never get any of their armour.
They made it a bit too unfair to be worth playing more.
Best strength of the Barbarian background is picking up destroyed armor.

I get what your saying, but to me the fact that the game doesn’t favour you at all means that it’s actually brutally fair. It’s completely neutral and doesn’t care if you have a good or bad time
a lot of enemies dont have helmets, just use a flail and oneshot them.
