Hair Hood has a broad variety of hair cuts, although sadly not many beard trims, but still a really good barber channel. You should check them out if you want to see more interesting hairstyles then the sort of bowl cut or Caesar hairstyles they often give in this channel

The barber college I go to has this same type of relaxed vibe. I've been going there for over 30 years and I've never had a bad cut. There's always instructors there to step in if something goes wrong. The haircut is $12 but I don't mind giving them $20. It's definitely worth it.
But that's where things go wrong. I feel like it's the barber's duty to give his opinion and steer the customer in the right direction as most people don't really know what will look good. In this situation, the barber should've let him know that the hair needs to be shorter to pull off lines like that and give his opinion on what would look good. Just my two cents anyway.
