Polygamist Cult 'Prophet' Faces Kidnapping Charges for Towing Underage Girls in Trailer with Wives

- Polygamist "prophet" Samuel Bateman and three of his wives are facing federal kidnapping charges after they were caught traveling with underage girls in Flagstaff, Arizona in August. The FBI alleges Bateman is running a polyamorous cult, having as least 20 wives to himself. Bateman was arrested in Arizona after authorities discovered three underage girls traveling in a squalid trailer attached to the fundamentalist church leader's pickup truck. Bateman faces trial on March 14 after pleading not guilty to federal kidnapping and tampering with evidence charges. I think the kidnapping charges are there because some of the parents have denied that they married their daughters to the prophet. Just speculation. Because if the parents say that the creep was allowed to be transporting the girls, I don't think you could charge with kidnapping.

Thanks for pointing it out. I was reading comments to see if anyone else had noticed. The cop was calm, he was transporting minors in a trailer. I agree w you. Can't believe he had the nerve to tell him he was being recorded and to calm down. Imagine the mental abusive these girls are raised in and they don't even know. So sad.

I'm from Utah so I'm extremely extremely familiar with polygamist families so it's good to see them charging him, but to see that he only has the charges that he does makes me angry, and as far as the women..they are brainwashed from the moment they take a breath in the world, they are taught to save these men at any cost, they truly believe their eternal life depends on it, so it's difficult to not have compassion for some of these women, however I believe some of the women there can be true evil.

I knew Sam Bateman when I was a kid he was in charge of molding the young boys of the fathers that worked at Western Precision a machine shop and he had a weird vibe back then.
He never liked me because he said I was a troublemaker and used my influence for the wrong reasons but he definitely was to close to some of the boys mostly the Nielsen boys, their father was the owner.
How he ever convinced people that he was the lords mouthpiece is beyond me, I guess after Warren Jeffs was arrested people were desperate to have anyone lead them.
For anyone still in it I left when I was 17 and it was the best decision I ever made, there’s a whole world out there full of possibilities don’t be fooled.
What’s sad is that most of these girls think he has none nothing wrong.

In this case, kidnapping charges will just make them be more secretive next time around. That means they'll just hide these young victims even deeper in the future, which will put them in much more danger.

Still boggles my mind that one cop doesn't know the law when "Asking" Bateman to ID himself and the other actually does know the law and clarifies things in short order while starting to work the perp psychologically.
That cop arrived on the scene after the traffic stop. He didn't know that Bateman was the driver at first. If he wasn't the driver, Bateman could have refused. Once that was clarified, he arrested him for not answering.

One thing I noticed in this video cops not only wear BWC but also head-worn cameras which is far better in performance like wide-angle view, frame rate, and HD-res and there are different styles available nowadays for each brand in the market.
