This will be the future! The problem will be the early versions will kill animals accidentally, the next version will give diagnostic and smart maintenance recommendations to keep it running

Maximum Overdrive from Stephen King. That was my first thought when this crawler tractor suddenly started driving "all by itself".

that's barely a DYI project in complexity, farmers could easily develop their own open source system for less than the price of one of these

“LIDAR is used similar to self driving cars” is inaccurate reporting. Most “self driving” vehicles on the road are Teslas and they do not use LIDAR. If you said “some” self driving cars, you wouldn’t sound so ignorant. Sloppy reporting.

If the tractor comes up to an unidentified object it will send a photo to a call center in third world. It's not autonomous just labour outsourcing.

1 question. WHY?!!!! Why do we need this? why throw this mountain of tech at such a small and simple 'problem". I know the guy said it could free up workers to do other stuff, but we all know that will not happen. It's just another job killer in a time when people are hurting.

Maybe because it isn't simple...or maybe because there aren't many farmers and it helps industrial farming to support the ever more obese population. Who knows. Either way...no one wants to be a farmer or pick fruit and vegetables. It's extremely long hours and low pay so why be angry. That's a good thing
