The album comprises of 8 super hit Bengali tracks handpicked by Asha Ji, previously composed and sung by R.D. Burman. All the 8 tracks have been re-arranged by Nitin Shankar and sung by the living legend Asha Bhosle.
The entire album is re-arranged by using live musical instruments unlike the latest trend where the entire music is programmed on keyboard. The live instrumentation gives a very vibrant feel to the tracks complementing Asha Bhosle’s evergreen dynamic voice.
Music is re-arranged by Percussionist Nitin Shankar an ardent R.D. Burman fan and an early enthusiast of music. Nitin Shankar is known for creating various different sounds from octapads and conga which also became a regular fixture in Pancham's rhythm sections.

there wont be another pancham.so take others creations with a liberal attitude.one cant expect a copy of rd everywhere.this album is different.ashaji has aged and her voice has coarsened.still she is the living link from that era.listened to it with lot of melancholic nostalgia,with acheing heart and moistened eyes.

with due respect to Ashaji, i can say only rd can recreate rd nobody else...she attempted rd's numbers but couldn't create the magic, the feel is missing, not even touched the mood.....a failed attempt...we love to listen rd songs with rd's original arrangements only...otherwise it will be disastrous

A bit let down..................a failed attempt..................RDB is RDB .......nobody can match his inimitable style.............nor could anybody Ashaji's.....each is unique in his/her own world.................there was no need to swap role...................did not reach any height.

Remember, she has sung these much after her 70s, not the best age/phase considering the quality of voice of any singer. Had she sung this at her peak time, the outcome might have been different.. nevertheless, Asha being Asha, she could still attempt..
this is becoz the original composer is no more. had rdb made this album with asha, the songs wud have a different level. here lies the essence of a composer who actually make the singers sing
I whole heratedly agreed with Mr. Tanmoy Roy....some how this CD did not reach the height of RDB...wonderful singing style of Ashasji at the age of 81..a priceless singer and a monumental artiste, no doubt about it... however, some "Murki" of RDB or some "Flinks" which putted a stamp on all his songs sung and composed by RDB...that part is missing...also the orchestration is quasi-disaster. Especially the new Orchstrasion of the song "Mone Pore Ruby Roy....." in the CD is horrible and it totally lost the uniqueness of RDB's singing and composition style...it is SAD. It was not a TRUE justice to Pancham. We all agreed that, RDB and Sachin Karta (SDB) are a class all by them selves. NO ONE can EVER touch them.....being a musician and a long time percussionist lived in Kolkata in my child hood and then rest over 40 years in USA still my head bowed down with deepest respect for both of them........What a creation of GOD and how lucky I am being a Bengali to appreciate it. Hail to "Ma..Bangla"' and to our 'Kollolita Kolkata"....
