    Had the privilege of sitting and talking with Mr. Burgin during a Marine Corps birthday ball ceremony in Nov 2013. A gentlemen and a fine man. Thank you for your sacrifices, sir!

    William Manchester said in his memoir, Goodbye Darkness, that we won the island fights in the Pacific man-on-man. The Japanese had been taught that we were soft - bad mistake. It is clear the experience is seared in Mr. Burgin's soul.

    This man deserves more respect than anyone i know or will ever know.I'm reading Eugene Sledges book at the moment and my god R.V is a brave,caring and incredible man. You make your country proud

    Roniboney: I would imagine that you are finished with Sledges book by now. I've read the book 3 times and was always riveted to the book. I never could put it down. One hell of a generation!! One hell of a Marine!!.

    I read With the old breed, helmet for my pillow, china marine, a book on john basilone, and a few other books that use some passages from those books in them. But i cant seem to find the book chuck tatum wrote
