fun fact about Luong Chi Dung: I moved to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam in 2015 and found a pool hall owned by LCD (it's no longer operating). myself and some locals were just chilling around and I get to meet the guy himself (he's still in his mid 30s btw and doesn't speak any english) and approached him with that youtube video ("long dong 3 foul"). I said to him with google translate :"you are famous, I know you!" and showed him that video. The locals then convinced him to try that shot again. He smiled meekly (just like in the damn video!) and proceeded to set up the balls just like in that video and used ONE attempt to escape that 3 foul! small crowd went mad, we drank some beers and continued gambling. another fun fact: in that match against foldes, LCD was only 21 years old. He has won the Vietnamese National 9 ball 3 times before this video. 2002, 2005 and 2006. Recently, he finished 2nd place in 10ball and 4th in 9ball for the 2020 National Championship in Vietnam. He is 36 today.
If you ever hear anyone arguing how jump cues/jump shots take the skill out of the game all you need do is show them this video. Ha-ha! Thanks for posting this vid.
Had a look at the APA, BCA, and WPA rules, none of them say anything about declaring a foul. Like it's not strictly prohibited but not enabled either, because it's not mentioned.
Love your work, Rollie. Retrospectives can be cool and I think you have the right vibe to pull them off. Maybe you could try some player specific retros, like top 5 Efren/Strickland moments, or times Shaw left everyone stunned or something… love the series even when you’re not trying shots.
@@hantoam Thanks for confirming. All rules on pool that I've looked at always mention loss of the "game", that somewhat confused me but I always think that loss of the rack is most sensible.
Do add to this - Despite being one of the greatest Centers of all Time, Shaquille O'Neal was so bad at the Free Throw line, that other teams created the "Hack-a-Shaq"-Strategy, to purposely foul him in order to higher the chances of getting the rebound or at least gaining possession of the ball. Of course that strategy was also used against other Centers as well.
@@corey1845 ok I was referring to pool. Because nobody intentionally fouls in pool without reason, this was for tactical purposes. If you intentionally foul in pool depending on the severity it can be seen as bad sportsmanship and can result in loss of frame or even game.
I guarantee this has happened before in professional and amateur pool. Not that uncommon for good players to play a great safety shot to force an intentional foul. Kind of a ridiculous thing to say as an announcer.

"we drank some beers... And continued gambling" Golden😂😂😂
Probably mistook Luong Chi Dung with Luong Duc Thien regarding the 10-ball championship in VN ;). But nonetheless thank you for your story!
thank you for this great story :D
God damnit, this was incredible. I can't believe I've never heard of this. Great narration. Please do more of these.
I've watched this many times over the years it's truly incredible.

Terrific commentary as always Rollie.
Rollie from kamui is in my top 10 favourite people of all time oml what a great commentary video love it 👏🏻👏🏻
Would love to see more interesting scenarios like this!!!
That was insane, thank you for covering 💯
I did not see that jump coming, amazing stuff
The thing I always remember is that the old RUclips video of this sequence calls Luong “Long Dong” lol
Lương Chí Dũng from VietNam🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳

Are you going to enter this years US open and film the process of going 2 and out?

Rollie, please don't do top 5s and clip comp videos. The fact that you don't do that trash is why we like you.
I was on the edge of my seat
How have I never seen this?! Unreal
"A tactical airstrike" 😅
Fantastic tactics..
these are so interesting

Very often when people talk about this leg, they often don't mention that after the jump, the other player wins the rack
won the rack but lost the game, that's not what people are here for, they're here for the shot
History.....
Um, a link to these videos would be great. Come on guys.
We not gonna even comment on the name? Cool cool.
A perfect example of a zugzwang in pool. But just to ask: if he violated the 3-foul rule does that mean loss of the game or just loss of that rack?
Just loss of that rack.

a game = a rack / a set = several games or racks / a MATCH = several sets/games/racks
wow, i proud of vietnamese they are so gifted
I didnt know every Vietnamese person is a talented pool player lol
This is typical player in 8 ball pool game especially Luong.
Unreal. Long she Dong I never heard of before. Great game
This reminds me of basketball when a team is losing so they foul on purpose to try and get a rebound off a free throw

Drawing fouls in pool through safeties and snookers are pretty common lol
@@timothyeverson1795 Drawing a foul is quite the opposite of intentionally fouling.

@@timothyeverson1795 Youre right. That is not the case in BB for example :)
Neat
Anyone else can relate when playing the 8 ball pool app? 😂
I remember seeing this on tv

I play in league and so many people lose to me becuase I put them into several safetys. Even if I have a shot but don't like it ill do a safety

theres literally no way he jumped the cue ball😂
Why? That was quite an easy jump for a pro from that distance and also the only thing he could have done at that point.

Ummm okay. This is like 10+ years ago and has been posted a million number of times
Your point is?
