I was there...I had no intent to provoke confrontation....just to express my horror and dismay at the loss of lives of our soldiers and the Vietnamese...I knew that we should have not been involved in this war...the domino theory was used as justification for "our" presence and I believed that the USA was not in danger ! Ps red cloud alpha..I wasn't tripping or high on alcohol or drugs...I was attending Hunter College in the Bronx and working for Trans World Airlines I drove from NYC with 3 friends we were not in the crowd shown in this film...we marched at night with a candle. In front if me was an older woman...probably younger than my present age of 73. I recall that at the end of the march she sat on a chair by a warming fire. To this day I wonder what inspired her to join us.
Ii was there just passing through on my way home on leave. I was in full uniform but I needed to cross the street which meant I would need to pass through the demonstration. Luckily they parted and gave me plenty of room to pass through.
A moment in time.,youth is called upon...to serve a hunger for war.. being in this march,,and many organizations.,.really my brother serve this nation with his honor,,,learnt very much from him.. being in youth movements.,and being embrace by world community.,last till our time..youth must find that step.,and raise it's banner for life over war of greed and mismanage of our nations wealth and all these generations.. Vietnam generations,,such a waste of human life..young people betrayed..,.2024 must answer this call..poor and hungry masses...
Sort of fun to look back at what was happening the year I married the love of my life (who is still the love of my life, and my wonderful wife!) This was the year before I went to Vietnam, ah back then I was so damn innocent to the ways of the world. Sure wish I could turn back that clock.
