本曲乃作曲者“乘著音符遊天下”的系列作品，亦是以“民族管弦樂為母體，世界音樂為羽葉”研究課題的實踐作品之一。
話說背著弦琴的詩人在其“一路向南”的旅程中，來到南亞一帶的雨林，喜見被稱為“地球之肺”的地方，其高溫多濕、錯縱複雜的生態環境不僅養育著數量龐大的生物群，而其美麗及神秘的背後，亦是地球上最豐富、古老、農作物品種改良及醫學開發上不可或缺的來源。由於熱林地區豐富的多樣性，其孕育的特殊文化，更是惠予了人類豐盛的自然遺產。
全曲分為《樂悠遊 I》、《莊嚴的嬉戲》、《雨的浪漫》、《森林的呼喚》、《樂悠遊 II》及《精靈之舞》六段，分別以西班牙佛朗明哥（Flamenco）；以印尼的克恰克舞（Kecak）、安克隆琴（Angklung）、拉丁舞曲等演奏、演唱風格展現弦琴詩人對雨林的讚嘆，及其呼籲世人珍愛大自然的呼聲。
此次演出的樹脂制安克隆琴由應有勤教授所研製，並由饒文心教授指導演奏，特此鳴謝。

This work is from the composer's "Touring the World Through Music" series. It is based on Chen's idea of the "Chinese orchestra being the body, and music from other cultures are the leaves".
The story begins with a poet and his string instrument travelling through the rainforests of South Asia, reaching the southern-most point, known as the "lungs of the earth". The high temperature, humidity, and complex ecological environment had nurtured many different creatures there. Behind the beauty and mystery, this area has the most abundant and varied crops and vegetation on earth, proving indispensable as a natural resource and for medicinal development. The rich diversity of these rainforests has its own unique culture and is a part of humanity's natural heritage.
The whole piece is divided into six sections: "Happy Travels I", "Solemn Playfulness", "Romantic Rain", "Call of the Forest", "Happy Travels II" and "Dance of the Elves". Chen incorporates Spanish Flamenco, Indonesian Kecak (dance) and Angklung (bamboo instrument), Latin dance, along with other performance and singing styles to show the poet's admiration for the rainforests, and calling the world to cherish nature.
