Give cider another shot and try something old world and in a wine bottle format. If there's a small bottle shop near you, that might be a great place to start.
I'm not an expert, but I believe that third cider is supposed to be poured from several feet above your glass. The splash in the cup aerates the cider. If I'm not mistaken, most Spanish ciders are like that. Take a look at the label.
I did and you are correct. In fact, the cork is supposed to be placed back in the bottle and used to form a spigot. Useful info to include on the packaging 🥲
