    i feel like mou li kai is a bit of a sus example for a farm map, even the graph shows the opening stream has like 90% the strain of the ending jumps. habib still 100% right about farm maps generally tho

      this is only my opinion but mou ii kai is pretty farmy, it was my first 400 and i dont think it should've been that much lol

      If you can stream, the opening stream isn’t straining at all, this map is super farm, I barely have 400s but 500 is possible on this map for me

      @@skybella2521 yeah i just meant as far as a farm map being super free combo then just hard jumps at the end. People who have good flow aim consider Honesty a farm map but i don't think that's what he was talking about in the vid

      @@WingzHDEntertainment I mean farm is always going to be relative to skill. Mou ii kai is a hard map, but for its difficulty it gives so much pp, its really farm and I think it's a better example than most maps because you can literally get a 400 on it. It's difficult imo to get that much pp from a map similar in length and SR.

    I feel like to develop a better system for pp they need to ditch the combo scoring or at least make it like scorev2 where it is deemphasized so that this kind of weird meta doesn't happen where your map needs to have a difficulty spike at a certain time and whatever. But at some point I also realized that pp will never be perfect, just because of the nature of how people value scores being stupid hard to quantify.

      Ditching the combo system would actually make it worse. The skill spike could be anywhere in the map and it'd still count for high pp if you only missed a couple times during the spike.

    This is only one type of pp map, the other type is the kind that only requires one skillset for the entire thing. Jump maps, stream maps, etc. Much easier to get good enough at one skill than multiple. Combine the strat in this vid with only one skillset in the map, and you have yourself a top tier pp map.

    the big jumps on the first kiai is harder for me to hit than the last jumps for some reason, i have some couple runs where i 1 missed there and hit everything else

    Might ramble a bit here but this is one of the issues I have with some of the ways pp is calculated. Using the first road of resistance as an example the map is genuinely a pretty consistent stream map up until the ending that continuously caught a lot of players back during its release. The fact that it's just after the 2k combo range and it being the most difficult and spaced pattern on the map makes the value skyrocket. My issue is that if you can do the rest of the map consistently and then fail to keep combo on that one part you're not entirely consistent enough to clear the difficulty hurdle, and that part in itself is such a small percentage of the entire maps run time that it seems odd that players are rewarded so much for passing such an insignificant portion of the map in terms of play time. I feel as though changes to the system should reflect more on the entirety of a map rather than everything else being a build up to the massive inflation a small percentage of the map can bring. I guess when the introduction of ppv2 fully integrates with the game we'll see accuracy play a better role and make the combo game less prevalent.
    I should say that I still enjoy many maps and my entire top play list is just composed of farm maps, but I do lose a lot of interest in a map when the patterns start to become nonsensical and make it fairly obvious what they're trying to achieve.

      THis is about the only reason I can see as a viable detraction to combo-based scoring.
      (Although, I have to admit I'm not all that interested in pp farming at the moment. and since I mainly go for SS's being able to do everything essentially perfectly comes with the territory. So this specific issue isn't going to be a problem for me once I get to the point of playing stuff like RoR. However, for anyone who's only going for high acc or FCs but are frustrated by this overweightedness I can see where the problem is, if that makes sense.)

      @@JonathanScarlet I wonder if it would actually work though. I just want consistency instead of over inflation of plays. I know there will always be a pp meta developed but if it means more of the map matters then I'd accept that. Also keep going with the SS grind, massive respect to you.

      @@flavorruse Like, I don't think you need to completely de-couple combo from pp evaluation (honestly, in relevance to song length and max combo, still being able to combo 99% of the objects in the song for 99% of the song itself should count for -something-), but I do agree that you shouldn't be able to cheese it by having 2 minutes of general boredom and then 2 seconds of ultra-hard, full-screen jumps to give it that much pp. ANd I'm not entirely sure I'd be that upset with lazer if it weren't for that utterly ridiculous 1M score cap, given that more emphasis on accuracy is supposed to be one of its strong points.
      Even so, there will still be spike points on the map relative to the rest of it (even if it amounts to small hills compared to the rest) and it's unreasonable to expect every mapper to make it as smooth as possible (especially when the map itself has dead zones).
      Also, thank you! It'll be a more respectable grind once I get myself to SS-ing 4* maps/100+pp maps. I try to upload at least 1-2 SS vids a day, so it's also a good check on how I'm faring as well on my own channel.

    pp farming meta in 2030:
    an entire album of 4* burst consistency+ quick scale up to 10* part
    the fun part is that this is actually a possible way to exploit the system literally almost an FC and misses on 10* part have little to no effect penalty wise so it's basically just a 4* map with random 10* ending= free pp
    and I think that's pretty dumb

    the title is kinda misleading cuz only a few farm maps are this way, and usually its not even the farmiest ones, even when the explanation does hold true, its more like the last 100 combo out of 500 in stuff like last goodbye but in farm maps like sunglow,imagination,utsuroi,magma,one by one, necro fantasia and many more its not true at all
    also it doesnt have to be true for the map to be worth pp because even if it is its more worth the pp to fc it than to miss the ending

      In map like sunglow or one in a billion what u do is u repeat the described pattern 3 times usually each time adding a bit more spacing. So u will have 3 diff spikes every one slightly harder than the previous. The length is also crutical - it makes overall easier maps more pp coz high ar, hd and "difficulty" in general weight more on longer maps. Team magma and some other maps u mentioned on the other hand are actually theoretically not that farmy, they only abuse general dt-jump meta and increase spacing while maintaining the simplicity of patterns.

      @@slavahaponiuk7061 yeah,that was the point of my comment, that maps can and do abuse the system without having diffspikes at the end and i said sunglow cuz it has 2 diffspikes that arent at the end while being an easier 800 than some maps that have the diffspike at the end
