No, that's exactly what he's doing. Part of the greatness of the song is that he accepts he's no better than anyone else. If he didn't, then he'd have the same ironic superiority complex he sings about.
Having spent most of my high school years at a school where the vast majority of the student population fits this description, I feel INCREDIBLY vindicated by these lyrics. The lyrics are so pertinent to everything I fucking hated so much back then. I feel like they should devote wall space within the building to have a mural with these lyrics printed along the vertical length of the wall, with expletives asterisked out. Never before have I felt this kind of deep connection with a pop punk song!
13 years later and this song is vindicated. He was talking about me... 💀 I am glad I am older and no longer irony-poisoned and I can just like the things that bring me joy
i said this to my sister cuz shes a hipster and all she did was cry... and i felt bad so when i went to hug her she pushed me away playfully, smiled, and said sarcastically "im going to study now." ... and now shes like me...
First off, I really like the song - but I see exactly where you're coming from. How many people are really going to listen to this and think, "Oh shit, it's me he's verbally attacking!"? Most people will automagically assume that they aren't part of the group he's attacking due to ego or whatever. Even so, I first listened to this song when I was about 16 and it probably had a hand in helping me see things from other people's point of view.
I fit this description of this song almost perfectly... except for the parts about fashion and what-not... haha uh-oh! might wanna do something about that. :P I totally just am in love with this song. CAN"T GET ENOUGH!
Philosoraptor: If people who like Say Anything are REALLY the hipsters, does that make me a hipster just because I like this song?? I wonder about myself...I like hipster music but I love all people in general (except hipsters whom I can handle for a decent period of time) and don't hate on everyone because they are different than me.
Hi. 🙂 Please, let us pray together. Dear God who art in heaven hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever in Jesus Christ's name we pray amen. 🙏💯
The way I feel the need to play this song every time I see some kind of punk purist shitting on the concept of pop punk and looking down on anyone who likes bands that are too popular. Like bruh, things get popular for a reason. And your hared of leftist political songs being mainstream shows that you are fuckin fake. You don't really care about music; you care about virtue signaling that you know the right music. And you don't care about liberation, you care about feeling like the only person around who knows things aren't right. You just want to feel special and superior to everyone else. For the most shallow of reasons too. It's so hard to even fake an ounce of respect for those types fr. Nobody is a "perfect punk" and anarchy doesn't really exist as long as hierarchies in the world exist. Nobody is actually free from it. And the more you try to act like you are, the more blatantly clueless you are about how any of this works. We are all part of this toxic society with it's imperfections bleeding into us. You can only ever own up to it in order to try to counteract it at all.
not long ago ran into one that was bitching about green day (okay common, but still stupid). But then he started shitting on pennywise too. And then bad religion. All cause "too popular". And it's like....what even is the point of punks like you, tbh
@mishaemanoil no hun I think you spelled that wrong. I belive you ment badass not bad. Haters can hate but that means in the begining when he was talking bout the bitch he ment you. lol
This is one of the worst songs I've ever had and sounds like something copied straight from some kind of bullshit 'social commentary' novel from the 60's

This song is a diss track towards me and I love it.
I think everyone on the planet (especially the internet goers) should listen to this song and really look at themselves afterwards.
I spend hours in front of the mirror, making my hair elegantly disheveled.
This was on moboogie as acoustic. Amazing. Bring it back please
That drummer though.

im so tired pf @AncileOmega
he is right in a sense but I still prefer bohemian dressing people who read underground fashion maganiez who at least strive to be different in life
"prototypical non-conformist"!
Alejandro Cabezas just don’t look down on the people who don’t is the point
Not at all
We're having fun thinking we're unique, and you're making songs just to rip on people who like different things. What do you have to say for yourself?
