Many thanks, I always feel that processing is an extremely important part of modern photography, and you might be surprised at the extent to which I process images but with an emphasis on making sure they don't look like it! 😊👍
One of the things I like most about your vlogs is you show its not all roses. And we're all at the hands of the weather gods. The very last image, outstanding. I never watch vlogs on my phone, always a 55" TV. So imagine how great that last image looked. Brilliant ❤️
Nantlle ridge! Great memories invoked by your video & pictures. A little gem - forget the crowds on Snowdon - this is a great traverse and your pictures give a taste of the roller coaster ride across the range. Thanks.
Cheers Keith, yes it suits me that most visitors either head for Snowden or Ogwen. Because they don't know any better, and luckily none of them watch my stuff either! But there are plenty of fabulous locations to be enjoyed in relative solitude right across the region right through the year! 😊👍
David, what a fantastic place to work in, and live near by, it brings back many happy memories for me, you are very lucky to be able to get some superb images.
Talk about atmosphere !! you had it in spades... love the peak with mist and valley of trees shot and the ridge shot is also stunning !! well done Mr. G
Thank you David, you really do have some spectacular landscape there in Wales. A video from you brightens my day, especially of late when I've been more or less housebound though illness. Take care.
Hi Neil, really hope that you'll be feeling better soon. So pleased that I'm able to offer you a little entertainment here and there. Really appreciate you watching 😊👍
I was waiting for this video, since I saw you mention it in the pubcast I saw last evening. Great shot of the peak, with the dip in the cloud base. Thanks.
Great to see you back out on a mountain side Dave. Really enjoyed viewing your set of images from this shoot, cheers for sharing and take care Mate, 👍📸
Really struggling to find time lately! Ever since they've let us off the leash I've hardly got a couple of hours to myself, so even weekends have become a problem. Was very pleased that I managed to get some decent conditions for this one, because having squeezed a couple of hours out of my schedule it could've been a complete waste of time!! 😊👍
Looks like you have some nice images thank you for sharing, I really enjoy your vlogs on your channel very relaxing to watch. You also capture North Wales so well with the mood of the mountains and surrounding landscapes very inspiring. Stay safe and Thank you.
I really liked that first image with the sweep of the low cloud over the trees! A bit of low cloud on some mountains is just my cup of tea! Lovely video David! S
I loved everything about this video and the two images at the end are amongst my favourite images that I have seen from you! Absolutely brilliant images!
Superb images - all of them - they speak for themselves however your choice of music really lifts them. And the image @ 3:19 😲😲😱😱 - stunning!! I'm looking at it now on the wide screen as I type and it fully justifies your effort and vision. Thanks for taking us there David 👍👍
There's certainly more Y Garns than you can shake a stick at. There's the 2 you mentioned plus there's one in the Rhinnogydd and then there's Y Garn and Llyn Y Garn near Trawsfynydd. Great video and photos.
Superb as always.... what a fabulous part of the World :-) Cracking images, love your post work . The one of the F15 with vapour condensation pouring over the wings etc.. fabulous !!! Not the conditions that you normally see the USAF flying in :-) Excellent David, excellent....
Yes, three of them were doing circuits and even though it's not my sort of thing I thought why not see if I can sharpen my skills a bit and pull off a half decent shot! 😊👍
Wonderful series of pictures! The sky and clouds are quite spectacular. I’m not sure how to phrase this, but the fact that you were thoroughly enjoying yourself came through in the shots. Not just the video, but the final still photos. Thanks for the mountain tour - as I’ve said before, I’m living vicariously through your mountain adventures.
A very well told story of the day Dave. Some lovely moodage going on. Definitely some of your best shots in this one. Seems like a short hike to get the views....interesting. Nice work mate👍👍
Cheers mate, if only those clouds have broken a little more that vantage point is particularly good. Definitely not one for "the pubcast crew" though! 😊👍
I really liked the opening shot Dave the mist echoed the hillsides contours beautifully, and that ridge shot at the end was spectacular buddy well done that man!
Hi David, this must one of the best videos you've done. The images are fantastic. I always look forward to seeing your video's and this one was well worth the wait.
Pity about the clouds, but you did come back with some cracking images. The look back to the Dinorwig levels was interesting, if not my favourite. I must say you certainly seemed to be enjoying the day.
I'll be honest mate, if it hadn't been for the forecast I wouldn't have bothered getting up of the 500 m, although to be fair I did get lucky and one or two images were worth the trip 😊👍
This is one of the best vlogs you've done along side the one with Darren Knight at Llyn Cwellyn both left me speechless so calm and controlled= professional... Looking forward to getting up North when the crowds have dispersed. 💪.. did I mention the images .... Speechless
Don't worry about crowds, don't feel you can't come and enjoy these fabulous landscapes. There are countless opportunities for great scenery in relative solitude that don't involve crowds and parking problems! 😊👍
Long time no views of your videos ... I have a lot of catching up to do, Youve been as busy as bee. Wow great job Mr Griff amazing pictures. noice job with the JET the last one was great one to end with
Cheers mate. The thing is, I'm getting to the point where I'm going to just have to go out and enjoy a walk or two without stopping to film and take pictures on a tripod. When I go out with other people guiding or with mates I never film and always really enjoy it as a break from vlogging. But with this year being so upside down, and all of my guiding and tuition clients pushing back until later in the year I've got a couple of months with every trip out by myself. 😊👍
Lovely video and images David. I’ve been trying to do a walk along that ridge for the past nine months. But with a sprained ankle in the past and covid amongst other things I’ve had to put it off. Looking forward to your next trip out. 👍
Hello there, I live near Llun Coron, and I’ve been given a cannon 450 with lots of different lenses,so coming across your videos are going to help me, I’m a beginner 🤪🏴
Hello neighbour - we live close by! You'll have lots of fun with that nice Canon. It's a very capable camera and with a few lenses you can get quite creative. Especially living where we do with so much to see. Hope you enjoy it 😊👍
Cheers mate. It does seem to have been quite well received. Bit of a pain in the arse really because I might have set the bar too high! Nowhere left to go - maybe archive the channel and take up another hobby. Model railways aren't weather dependent and don't involve midges 😊👍
great vlog david, sorry it's taken a long time to subscribe but i really enjoy your work, i now live in Harwarden in the north east but my favourite locations is only an hour away
Hello Jim, thank you so much for supporting my channel. But there really is no need to apologise, I just appreciate you watching and hopefully enjoying my stuff. I guess now that you're reasonably close to this area you'll be able to spend much more time here. Hope you grow to love it as much as I do! 😊👍
Mr G Da iawn, as always. Previously you used to include some details on the actual settings used when displaying the images (f stop and focal length, ISO perhaps). On a personal basis I found that to be very helpful, especially the focal length. Be good to have this back.
Helo Jon, diolch yn fawr iawn. You're quite right I did used to put some details on. I stopped doing it quite some time ago and to be honest nobody else has noticed! Or at least they haven't mentioned it. There were two reasons, firstly it did take quite a bit of time setting up the images for the video and I've become much busier in recent months with business, both photo and video related, and other ventures. So it just saves me a little editing time. Secondly, and something which formed a large part of the decision to save a bit of time was that it really doesn't provide much of an indication to somebody looking to learn from them. You see, when you are out with your camera looking to capture an image the settings which would be most appropriate for that circumstance, really can only be gauged there and then under those conditions and based on whatever artistic outcome you're looking for. And so including my particular settings isn't really of huge value in the scheme of things. If it were, then I wouldn't have compromised on saving a bit of time. I would've continued to display them. One thing you can do when you're looking to improve your own technique, is to take a series of comparison shots (assuming you have time and the camera is on a tripod). The focal length used is always specific to the composition, except of course where you're looking to manipulate depth of field but that isn't particularly common in landscapes. But exposure settings, and to some extent aperture controlled depth of field can all be experimented with quite successfully. All you need to do is to take a series of exposures of exactly the same image using a range of settings all of which give you a histogram that provides a reasonable set of pixels but varies shutter speed and aperture. In that way you will start to arrive at a general set of settings, which work for you, based on your artistic interpretation, and of course the characteristics of your camera. When I migrated from Nikon to Olympus this is exactly what I did in order to get a handle on what would work best for me. It very quickly become second nature and you can then concentrate on the compositions rather than the technicalities. And I guess it's for that reason that I felt that it wouldn't hamper people looking to learn from me by removing these details. I really hope that kind of gives you some thinking behind it and hopefully you're not too disappointed that I'm going to probably not reinstate them any time soon. Many thanks again for your very generous support of my channel 😊👍
Fantastic video David. You are so lucky to have great vistas to capture. I would love to know how you do the focus stacking that you mentioned in the video. Do you use the in camera focus stacking mode or use Lightroom? Would it be possible for you to make a short video on the ins and outs on how to focus stack please?
Hi Warren, I do my focus stacking in photo shop usually manually. If you take a look at Mark Denney's RUclips channel you'll see he recently did one about manual focus stacking (ruclips.net/video/oMQzjzk-tFo/видео.html) and to be honest my process is almost identical so hopefully that will help you out a little 😊👍
David! Your best video ever for me personally! Music, atmosphere, light, chat and Photography! As I always love lots of images. Class! Also did you take those B roll shots looking straight down 1,000ft to 2,000ft just for me x 😆🤢
Hahahaha. You know what? Yes. I had you in mind here and there. No, really I did! I think because I was looking across at the flank of Yr Aran from there reminded me 😊👍
I really like that first image with the trees in the fog! Another question about the Atlas bag, sorry - how well does it work with the Peak Design clip? Thanks!
The PD clip sits fine on the shoulder strap as it has a webbing overlay so you're not forced to clamp it around the entire strap. very handy and a very specific thing I checked beforehand 😊👍
@@DGriffGallery Thanks - that's good to know! I was worried that it'd be a bit wobbly just on the webbing. Their customer service said that it worked, and that they'd just told someone else about it (could have been you!) but I wanted a non-biased opinion too. Thanks again!
Hello David, many thanks for watching. The filters which are used for most of the images were a combination of a 0.9 soft graduated ND filter and a circular polariser. A good chuckle at ' a quick up and a quick down'
Another wonderful set of images David. Thanks for taking us along.
First image is a stunning capture
One of the things I like most about your vlogs is you show its not all roses. And we're all at the hands of the weather gods. The very last image, outstanding. I never watch vlogs on my phone, always a 55" TV. So imagine how great that last image looked. Brilliant ❤️
Many thanks, although the thought of my mug on a screen that size is a bit disconcerting!! 😊👍
I've watched almost all #150 on the big screen. Used to it 😀 but seeing the images large as they should be, so inspiring.
I totally agree with Mali. I think this is one of your best videos yet. Beautiful location and beautiful images. Thank you so much for sharing.🤗
Absolutely beautiful David

Great vlog David and some cracking images, thoroughly enjoyed it, well I actually watched it twice 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow thanks a lot!! 😊👍
Another great video David, none of those mountains here in Cornwall' thought the images were spot on, look forward to the next one.
Great to be out and about with you love all the images but especially the first two I would put them on my walls at home no problem thanks Burt
I really liked that first image with the sweep of the low cloud over the trees! A bit of low cloud on some mountains is just my cup of tea! Lovely video David! S
The thing is, that's half the problem round here. Very often there's too much low cloud! Mind you, there is still plenty to see at lower levels 😊👍
D Griff Gallery I think that’s the problem pretty much anywhere David, at least wherever I go anyway! 😅
I loved everything about this video and the two images at the end are amongst my favourite images that I have seen from you! Absolutely brilliant images!

What filter(s) did you utilize on this excursion?
Hello David, many thanks for watching. The filters which are used for most of the images were a combination of a 0.9 soft graduated ND filter and a circular polariser. Some images had both, some had one or the other, and some had none. Of course, in the modern age of digital photography they are not essential (although the CPL can't be duplicated digitally) but I find they are helpful, and for certain images very much so in combination. 😊👍
You really need to start working some of your images into monochrome. The ridgeline image is a perfect candidate.
Ah, no just not my thing really unless there really is no colour in the scene to start with 😊👍
