As a carpet fitter of 27 years Westex have always been a fantastic choice in anything they manufactured, i am yet to run into an issue with this product in particular but what does appear to becoming a regular occurrence in the flooring industry is the manufactures not being supportive or interested in customer service especially with what are clearly sub standard products, they look for any excuse to protect their bank rather than provide service
Hi Mike I have just a had representative from Westex call because we have exactly the same problem. A 4 month old carpet with the same marks he said it’s called “partial transfer” dirt in other words. Apparently we are using the wrong carpet cleaner. We are disputing Westex’s opinion. Brian Hone
Gosh, sorry to hear that, I can see how you would be very upset by this. Thank you for posting. I was going to either buy this exact one (at far more expensive cost then something like Isense which looks similar but was advised by store that Isense is a far inferior product to this) or a similar from Elements.London. I think my mind is made up now to avoid this Westex product. However, I’m wondering if ALL these Nylon velvet style carpets do the same within such a short period. By the way, which of the 3 thicknesses did you purchase? I’m wondering if it was a problem with a specific highest density one or with all of them.
Shaun G ended up getting elements london, relatively new range called Manhattan collection, comes in 3 lengths, ended up getting the longest length version called Wall Street (as for rooms not stairs but for stairs I may get the medium pile called broadway), chose the colour called cosmopolitan. I’m really happy with it, looks modern and similar velvet look without the cheapness of some, and also shows footsteps and vacuum lines but as it’s deep also looks pricey. Down now for a month or so, and looks and feels lovely but I also suggest if spending so much, use a deep cloud 9 underlay I also got that’s 11cm deep so it’s like walking on clouds too. Had a small accident recently with a bit of coffee falling, but I quickly dabbed it with water, and then used some dr Beckmann cleaner on it (not a lot just a bit) and its perfect again. Would be happy to show you pics but I can’t upload to RUclips pics with comments. Happy to send you photo if you give me an email. Cheers. Kingdoz.
@@kingdoz How's your carpet looking after a year? Does it feel the same as the westex debonair? Also liked the isense, I'm surprised that you said it is considered inferior. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Installed tons of this carpet over the years . No one ever talks about what damage the sebum oil from our feet do to these materials over time esp in those high traffic areas.. hate to put a downer on your cause but it’s just the reality of naturally contaminating imperfect humans..
I think you're being a little over-dramatic pal, I mean, apart from a 80/20 tightly woven wool, which carpet wouldn't go flat? I think salespeople do exaggerate the abilities of a carpet although a little common sense and understanding the physics of a super soft and fluffy carpet should come into play.
Isn't it sad how a company can take your hard earned money then turn thier backs when clearly there is a fault absolutely shocking I hope anyone effected you get this problem sorted together ☺
I have exactly same problem with this Carpet. I have had the carpet shop we purchased from in to take photos and send to Wessex. Do you have a resolution yet and any advice. We paid 9,500 for our carpet.
Hi Mike - Need your advice. How did you story end up? We deliberately are looking at wool carpet for upstairs because the clouding effect of silk carpets is a nightmare to maintain - even with 2 sensible adults! Did you replace the carpet and if so what did you go for? Also randomly the staircase glass - happy with that? My other half and our cleaner are warning me against it! Thoughts?
Hi, thanks for the message. Westex are sadly refusing to discuss the matter with me. I am however finally making progress through the court and I should have a date shortly. I do know that a colleague who had the same issue with the same carpet had his replaced FOC by Westex as they settled just before the matter went to court - all be it he did not like the replacement carpet much - Westex also put a gagging order on him - what a great quality British manufacture. Have you complained to Westex - if so they have a well-rehearsed route they will try to take you down. I am happy to expand on this if required? Re the glass staircase. Yes I love it. Yes, it does take some maintenance but not as much as you would expect despite 2 young kids.
Hi Graham and Andrew, sorry to hear you are also having problems with Westex. Firstly do not accept Westex’s proposal of a binding ‘independent’ report, I have copy of one of these from another disappointed customer, the report is not independent and states ‘their is no manufacturing fault’. Please feel free to contact me directly my mikelegon@gmail.com to discuss further.
hi Mike, we have the exact same problem, please can you let me know what you plan to do as perhaps myself and others I have found can all join together?
Experiencing similar problems having laid this carpet in lounge and bedrooms. Have you resolved this? Westex are suggesting binding arbitration but I am not keen and prepared to take my chances in court.

Am/was on the verge of buying Westex but came home and started looking at their (terrible) reviews online. Thank you for posting this video.
So pleased I found this video, I was just about to place an order for 10k for this same carpet and underlay.
Thanks for the comment, glad to help you avoid a potential headache.
Which carpet did you end up choosing? How's it looking now? Thanks!

Thanks for making this public. I am about to purchase velvet carpet and thus video has pushed me to Brintons rather than Westex.
I will go for a wool carpet next time, soft and lovely as this is, it really does not wear well!
How's the brintons carpet? Recommend it over westex? Thanks!

Were you able to resolve this? Which carpet did you choose in the end? How's it holding up now?
What thickness grade is this? I'm wondering if the shorter pile versions are a bit less prone to this? e.g. is this debonair, chic or vogue?

Which range is this from?
What colour is this and what model
Sadly Westex repeatedly ‘closed’ our complaint. No option other than Sue our retailer - happy to discuss our experience 07770 998877. Mike

Glad to be of help. Maybe speak to Westex’s Sales Director and ask him I’m why they refuse to answer any of my questions posted here.
Same issue, especially on the stairs, too late now... And not at all stain resistant... :-(
