- Blade and Sorcery is possibly the best sword fighting game available in VR right now. The combat is responsive. The fighting can be intense. The violence is... confronting... However, what if you could take that sword and magic experience and jump into the arena with powers of a Super Sayian? Or, perhaps you'd like to soar through the skies holding Thor's hammer? There are so many mods available right now, so I thought it would be a great time to jump in and see how crazy things can get.
What follows is me checking out Blade & Sorcery with my Valve Index headset, firstly with absolutely no mods installed, and then with a large assortment of mods installed through Vortex/Nexus mods.

Which weapon/avatar/map combo would you want to see in the game in future?
Mine is already satisfied. I've got about 2 dozen mods that change all but the UI into Assassin's Creed 1. It's absolutely beautiful. The only thing I can't do is turn off telekinesis because that disables the hidden blade actions.
@@wonder_platypus8337 Tools of the Trade (TOTT) is a mod for blade and sorcery that adds a few hidden blades. from what you're saying, I'm guessing you're aware it exists. It's genuinely my favourite mod now that I can use Connor's hidden dagger/blade from AC3
@@Exilir8 Yep. Those were the blades I was talking about. Using mods to turn off telekinesis breaks them though which is a bummer. Wish I had to physically pick up dropped weapons and didn't accidentally use the force on stuff.

Or from rol D&D, Magic the Gathering, Mage the Ascension, Call of Cthuluh, etc..
i went from watching a cake tutorial to watching bumblebee get absolutely destroyed by a cast iron

The game without mods is fun but with mods is a blast
I wish I could mod a lot cuz I figured out how to mod but for some reason if I installed more then one mod when I loaded my game at the start screen it wouldn’t show the Yi got choosing your character

I will say, being able to Judgement Cut eight enemies at once as Vergil with the Yamato all while a true to game dynamic version of Bury the Light plays in the background is the closest thing we'll get to DMC in VR.
That sounds so cool holy crap... I have to get Yamato working

@@jorjor94 all footage was taken on U11 PCVR version of Blade and Sorcery and not nomad.
Here's some more stuff about this game that I'd like to mention as a B&S veteran, who has really only played the game with mods;
*There is a mod that allows you to change your character's size, and there's another which lets you change the size of npcs, objects, and weapons.
*There is an armor mechanic in the game, where you can equip pieces of armor, ranging from thin cloth shirts to suits of metal armor which are nearly impervious to arrows and most weapons that aren't blunt weapons, and there are tons of mods that add in new pieces of armor as well.
*There are mods that add in/fundamentally change game mechanics, and there's even one which is a (heavy W.I.P) Star Wars total-conversion mod, that, from what I've seen, seeks to turn the game into a Star Wars quest-based dungeon crawler
*The developers have added in a procedurally generated rogue-like dungeon crawler game mode, which I think he touched on a bit, and they're going to expand it much more with the next couple updates. In its current state, however, it has trouble with some mods, and can break due to some mods, so play it modded at your risk.
*There's also gore mods, which is another thing entirely, some adding in very visceral, gore-y gore (organs, tons of blood, you can tear the skin off of your opponents), and others adding in new combat mechanics (broken bones, specific levels of damage depending on where you hit the enemy instead of any form of impalement instantly killing them, a bleeding-out and unconsciousness mechanic)
*This game is insanely fun, but it makes you question whether or not you are a sadistic person at times. As a veteran of this amazing game, I can comfortably say; you are a sadistic person if you find fun in this game, and you are objectively evil.

The point about that feeling you get after killing someone in this game has only happened this pronounced in a game for me before. GTA V, on release, the NPCs were so realistic (though still stylized and over exaggerated) in thier movements, running up and punching an NPC in GTA V gave me that reaction as if some part of me felt I had done that to a real person. VR turns that feeling up to 11.
I think i had the exact same reaction in GTA V! The way the npcs slump after being hit still gets me every so often 😅
Nomad is for like fighting and going berserk while normal B&S is just the better version but more about torture

Definitely the main thing that bothers me about modding BS is the patches that break a lot mods then having to wait and see if your favourite mods get updates to the latest patch.
Yeah but that's a problem with any modded game that is still supported. No way to really get around it.
Most of the time the big mods are updated very soon after the game. Think outer rim or Fishers,

@@Hunter_Kennedy1 ironically enough the outer rim and the bigger mod packs take the longest because they have to redo everything.
I was already an experienced sword fighter when I started playing, so I was pretty good to start off and had a blast.
I love showing people this game that have never played it before or have barely ever played VR. Especially when I have mods going like the Thor mod or outer rim.
One of the best examples out there, why supporting the modding community of games so soo good
i found out about the modding scene for this game through a clip of the spiderman mod that lets you swing around environments. that one seems like it'd be the most fun to play around with by far

When I first loaded into the game and had no idea what to do, my first fight adrenaline was running through me, but fun.
I don’t know why, but hearing this guy say “I’ve got your friend’s legs!” Is one of the most funny things I’ve ever heard.
My favorite mod is the medevil mega pack it’s got 300+ weapons and they all are awesome and it even has a sword cane that can be imbued with 2 different spells at ones by using the handle as one and the blade as another

Thanks for the suggestion Isac, thats something i'll definitely have to do in future. Unfortunately because I went a bit crazy on grabbing mods to make this video I uh... lost track of all of them. If you see a specific mod that you'd like though let me know and I can try to track it down for you.
5:03 It gets more unfair when you have THE Yamato from the DMC series. Your enemies will be stricken with fear but you will be heavily motivated.
I have 166 mods for this game and it somehow runs better than before I added mods.
Just wanted to say my favorite mod out of every single mod there is has to be the mystic hands mod. Almost feels like I have a stand, but not quite

What I do to find the compatible mods is I sort the mods by last updated which helps me find them faster
I wish I had done this from the beginning 😅 that would have been smart.

I loved Outer Rim and Marvel Assembled (specifically for mjolnir and its ability to fly). Map wise: GM_Construct and DemonsHole were cool. Spells: Time Stop was a lot of fun to play around with but insanely overpowered. In all honesty I would say head on over the nexus mods (www.nexusmods.com/bladeandsorcery/mods/?BH=0) sort by last updated, grab vortex, and go to town downloading everything you think looks good back to around September 2022. Hope you find some cool stuff!

hey, i'm having some trouble with mods.
i know how to do everything until one last step...
the game verifying them.
i've tried with 2 mods, and i was happy that the game finally had connection with the mods, and that it knows they exist.
i would've been happier if the way i knew that was not by an error saying "game cannot load, there might be some mods that do not work properly."
how do i fix this issue and how do i know which version of a mod am i downloading?
I guess there could be a couple of things at play here.
Are the mods for the version of Blade And Sorcery you are playing? For example are you loading a PCVR only mod on Nomad, or are you loading a U9 mod on U11.3. The versioning of mods is sometimes sketchy at best, so if you can double check the descriptions on nexus to see it meets the version you are playing. If it doesn't say the version it's compatible with, has a last updated of early 2022, and you are trying to play the latest version of the game: that mod might be out of date and incompatible.
Are you using a mod manager or are you doing it manually? If possible, rely on a mod manager to do the lifting, just in case there's some extra configuration junk required in the background.

10:50 is why i CBA with blade and sorcery anymore.
i had it ultra modded in the past and it was so fun, but then a new update came out and broke all of the mods.
so i modded it up again with newly supported mods, but then just like last time a new patch came along to ruin it.
so now i just cba, i'll leave it uninstalled until a time when every tiny patch doesn't ruin months of modding.
just make folders saving all your mods and when you feel nostalgic for an older version switch back to that version in steam you can go all the way back in updates to whichever one you want with the betas feature i go back to u7 alot complaining about a game being updated when you simply dont have to update is a little silly

Heya, the map is Citadel which is available in the PCVR Blade and Sorcery, but I don't think it's currently available in Nomad.

Also fun fact: there’s a way u can kinda mod without a mod. If u open your book with the 3 lines button in the controller at one section in the book I forgot which one it will say “cheats” and it has stuff like inf health inf mana(mana is the stuff for spells) inf focus(basically just inf slow mo) there’s also inf arrows and my 2 favorites which are no fall damage and even no armor detection which allows u to stab people who have armor on without a fire casted weapon. Oh and in misc u can find a thing that allows u to hit ur self so when it’s on you can stab yourself with all the weapons.

why you modding with vortex? isnt copy to mod folder better and cause less issues?
Could be just personal preference, but I prefer vortex. The amount of info through the ui on each mod, the ability to purge/enable mods without having to shuffle folders, being able to go to the specific mod page just by right clicking on the mod... I just found so many benefits of using it, and not really any issues. Any issues I ran into were related to incompatible mods, which if anything vortex allowed me to discover the culprits faster.
It may end up becoming unfair, but it’s fun

Something I figured out in this game, you can slap npc’s to death. And if you sneak behind and they don’t notice, you can slap them and they go flying. Rlly funny honestly.

Heya, the quest version is a little different, and I haven't had experience getting mods working on it. You'll want to search nexusmods for blade and sorcery nomad, have a look through the mods for a lightsaber pack (like www.nexusmods.com/bladeandsorcerynomad/mods/3393?tab=description) and then search for a guide on getting mods working on blade and sorcery nomad.
Fingers crossed you get to use lightsabers soon!

I could probably do a collection, but to be completely honest I'm not really keen on keeping an eye on whether mods are valid or invalid with the latest versions going forward.
The best thing to do is to just jump on to nexus and organise by last updated, and see if you reckon anything looks good from the last ~6 months.
If you see one particular mod in this video that you want to know what it is though, let me know and I can tell you what it is.

After I installed my 1st mod the game felt empty without them
I have the quest version of BaS and while it does work as a medieval swordfighting game, but the lack of scripted mods is pretty annoying and the performance is abysmal for the system. i'm getting a proper gaming PC soon and when I do i'll immediately buy BaS for that + however many mods a 3070ti can handle

I do not recommend using the sword that's in the thumbnail it barely pierces unless you're just going to bluntly use it by swinging it at them and hoping for the best
Tell me what to do if I downloaded a lot of mods and only 20% of them work
Short answer: use what works, disable/delete what doesn't. Long answer: go through the mods that don't work and investigate if the reason they aren't working is because you are playing on a different version of the game that they have been updated to (i.e. you're using U11 mods on U12, or Nomad on PC Blade & Sorcery). Sometimes these mods update, or have older versions available so you might be able to track down compatible versions with what you are playing. Other times you might just need to find some other mods to fill in the gap.
Another possibility is that the mod is incompatible with other specific mods. If this is the case, it'd usually mention it on the page.

For gore: have heard good things about Carnage Reborn! For AI overhauls, not too much that I know of... There's some boss mode mods that could be a good choice.
How do you add your mods?
I download them using Nexus mods mod manager: Vortex and then enable them. Works really well!
I punched my wall. But since I live in Germany, it was not the wall that ended up with a hole, but my knuckle that hurt the entire week.
