    I’m still so shook by what Rublev did in those final 2 sets. It was masterful. Highlights don’t give it justice. He was locked in and activated. Nothing was gonna miss. It was warrior level. I bow down.

      Rublev is quite a demon on the court himself, sometimes his wildly aggressive playing style pays off. It’s usually not enough against the best defender in the world (Novak) or the best offensive player (Alcaraz) but he is capable of beating almost everyone else.

    • @lightspeednate
      @lightspeednate 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, he’s frustrating to watch. But I think he started to show that he would win this match in the 2nd set. Even though De Minaur won that set, Rublev dominated it by hitting most balls extremely crisply. Then suddenly Rublev had his mental breakdown episode in 3rd set where he questioned himself and whether it was worth trying battle this match out.
      Ultimately he was smacking the ball for most of the match and he noticed that de minaur was just trying to survive at certain points , so he was sold on battling this one out. Rublev got lucky on painting the line a bunch though.

      @@diegosotomiranda4107 Well, De Minaur is also a very capable net rusher. He doesn't use his speed exactly for just defense. If he can, he tries to get there as quickly as possible and return with a counter strike. He's actually quite aggressive with his speed. Obviously, he does struggle to generate his own pace. And I have a feeling that it might be similar to Murray's reason.

Super talented, but never possessing a weapon strong enough to overcome the likes of Djokovic, Sinner and Alcaraz in a Best of 5 tournament. He's also very much like his mentor Hewitt. But unlike Demin, Leyton reaped the benefits of a weak period in tennis, just before Fed took the stage completely.

But I will always back a consistent big hitter in a five set format. Best of three will always be Alex’s best chance. I don’t see him winning a slam, ever. He can win some 1,000s someday.

    First off, how do they have the stamina to play at this intensity for 5 sets? Absolutely incredible. And If Rublev doesn't win a couple slams in the next 12 months I'll quit watching tennis lol. They both played unreal but Rublev is next level.

    Rublev clearly showed that power beats speed. De minaur was evidently tired from constantly defending, and lost mental focus in fourth and fifth. You can’t get that back when you’re gassed 😂.

    de Minaur has that Aussie pluck. Great to watch. Sorry he didn't go through but Rublev went full machine.

    just watching them trading blows back and forth my legs were sore, 2nd n 3rd set highlights especially

    Rublev just outgunned de Minaur in those last two sets even with de Minaur’s fast legs. Rublev will meet a much tougher and fresher Sinner next.

    Deminaur doesn't have anything special to be a Slam champion. For him to win one, the stars have to align.
