    Thank you, Paul! It's really helpful to have an overview like this for the new Captivate. I'm interested in options for xAPI--namely, getting more information about how learners interact with a course, beyond their numerical scores. Have you ever had a client ask for this? I'm thinking about data such as whether they click on external links, how long they spend on various questions, how many times they view a particular slide, etc. I realize this requires an LRS, apart from the LMS--what are the options for this?

      I've only used xAPI for standard publishing. Check out Jeff Batt at Learning Dojo for the more advanced xAPI stuff.

    Hello Paul, thank you for the amazing video. Is there a way to set "no right answer" to a quiz on Captivate? It is more like a survey/ temperature check that I'd like students to do prior to entering a new module. There's really no right or wrong answers

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  9 месяцев назад +2

      Use a knowledge check where, even though you don't count the points, you could edit the feedback captions to something more neutral. If you need to report it, just make it a graded quiz where the question has no points (0), and on your results slide, hide the correct answers and only show the score.

    Thank you for your resource videos! Not sure how simple this question is, but here goes...I'm trying to design a quiz that passes/ends based on a points threshold. For example, I want a user to answer 10 questions about a subject correctly. Can I build a quiz with a 50-question bank, and the user answers one question after another until they answer ten correctly, at which point the quiz ends?

      I have an idea how this could be done but I’m about 5,000 km away from my computer this week. I would like to test out my theory when I get home and I’ll update my reply to this comment then. By the way, there is no need to ask questions in the comments of multiple videos. This doesn’t make me respond faster or more likely.

    Hi Paul, this and your other videos have been extremely helpful, thank you!! My question is: right now, when I include the option to show a retake button, I test it out and fail purposely, at which point I click "retake quiz" and it takes me back to Question #1 and lets me choose another answer (good!) -- but then when I click Next after re-taking question #1, it takes me to the next slide (boo!). I want it to take me to the next quiz question on the retake pass, not the next slide. Is this a setting somewhere that I am just missing? I can't seem to figure it out. TIA!

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  11 дней назад +1

      That's a great question. One thing that isn't available with advanced actions in Adobe Captivate 12 is conditional actions on question slide success or failure actions. Why that's important is that you could set the action of a question slide to be based on a condition such as the value of a user variable that could be assigned a value based on whether this was a retake quiz or not. You might be able to build something with a custom question slide that could accomplish this, but the standard question slides won't do this for you. You might want to click on the Help dropdown menu, select Provide Feedback, and let Adobe know you would like this. I found an entry that someone has already made requesting this feature called "Pass/Fail actions in Quiz: allow condition." You can vote up this feature (as I just did), and hopefully, if enough people agree with us, this will be something Adobe adds to a future release.

      Yes, take a look in the *Design Options* section of the Visual Properties Inspector. You can select the last item and add images of your choosing.

    Hi Paul, I am at a loss. In the new Captivate how do you access the Quiz Timer widget? How do you display a timer for each quiz slide time?

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  4 месяца назад +1

      Captivate 12 doesn't have a Timer Widget but you can set a time limit on each question slide in your project. You will find this option in the *Properties Inspector* under *Question Properties.* When the time has expired, the caption for timeout appears, and the ability to select an answer and submit becomes locked. The learner can only navigate from this slide to the next slide. I don't presently know of a way of displaying this countdown timer to your learners, but we can each reach out to Adobe and ask for this as a feature enhancement for a future release: adobe.com/go/cp_user_voice

    Great video, Paul! Just wondering whether there is any option to add a button to play audio on a quiz slide? The rest of my course has navigation buttons and a button to play audio in each footer. Clearly, all options are greyed out when it comes to adding blocks or components to a quiz slide.

    • @CaptivateTeacher

      I think the only option here is to create a custom multiple choice questions using your own components. A bit of work but it could be done.

      Adobe Captivate 12.4 does not have a built-in tooltip option that can be directly added to words within text components.

When getting to the Results page, the "Continue" botton is not working and does not show, so it marks the quiz as not completed.

    Hi Paul, where do i set the passing score for the quiz?

  • @timucinpusat3518
    @timucinpusat3518 Месяц назад

    I understand, Paul. Thank you for your answer.
    One more question: I want to assign fractional points for each correct answer, but it does not allow me, I want to assign 1.25 points for each correct answer, but it does not accept. Because in the exam I am preparing, there will be 80 questions and each correct answer should be 1.25 points so that a student who gets them all right can get 100 points.
    Also, for every 4 wrong questions, I want one correct answer to be deleted as a penalty, that is, to lose 1.25 points.
    Finally, after publishing the test in html form, I want the texts to be selectable, copyable.
    Lastly before I forget:) I coudn't see to export option to pdf or office word.
    Is it possible to do these things?

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  Месяц назад

      Adobe Captivate allows for points to be in whole numbers only. Perhaps there is a solution where you assign 5 points per question and then later divide that by 4 to get 1.25 points per question. Captivate won't allow you to modify the scores in this way but perhaps this could be done with JavaScript. Again, for each 4 wrong answers you want a penalty of one wrong answer. Again, Adobe Captivate doesn't offer this functionality but perhaps you could do something with JavaScript on the back end. The only option for downloading to PDF is the certificate widget. Under the slide's Settings you will see the option to download the certificate of completion as a PDF (no office options).

    • @timucinpusat3518
      @timucinpusat3518 Месяц назад

      @@CaptivateTeacher Thank you once again Paul for your quick response.
      I saw the certificate download button, but I want to download the quiz I prepared. You say there is no such option. We can't give fractional points. We can't assign a deduction for wrong answers. We can't copy the html file we published. Really, this is a very dumb software. It's 2024 and this backwardness is too much.
      Another problem I encountered: When preparing a multiple choice quiz, we can justify the text to the right or left in the heading section. But this is not possible in the options section. I'm working with a language written from right to left, but I didn't see an option to start the text from the right. Is this possible for the answer choices?

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  Месяц назад

      @@timucinpusat3518 I think you are missing the point of what Adobe Captivate is used for. Its function is to create elearning on the web, specifically a learning management system. Downloading a quiz is something you would not do with traditional eLearning. I have been developing in Adobe Captivate for about twenty years. I have never found the items from your original question to be something I needed to accomplish in all my time. Perhaps you should go and look at what iSpring or Articulate offer if you feel Captivate is not cutting it for you. Please also remember that I'm just another user of the software and I don't work for Adobe.
