Also fun fact about the s4 survival background. The holographic animal heads are a reference to the beta version of egg scramble, which used those same heads as egg baskets for each team, before they were replaced with generic baskets

This is sick, always wanted to see a close-up of those backgrounds, but at the same time it is a bit disheartening to see the biggest glow-down we got from SS3 to SS4 with that generic/soulless digital background. Even more when you're looking at the concept arts for this season on ex-MT staff members (wish them all the best for their careers) and notice that they HAD cool ideas and an actual background thought out for this theme, with controllers, audio-taps and even giant toys representing the rhinos and Bert, the digital theme would have been incredible and surely imo one of the best themes from the game if we actually got a real environnement, but i guess maybe Epic cut off the budget for it or some shit happened related to the creative that changed their plans. I still like the pastel color of it, but it is definitely not the same feeling
personally I think SS3 is probably the best season in terms of theming and level design, I've had more fun playing the SS3 levels than levels from any other season (except space race)

We really went from generic candy-looking landscapes to "wait I want to live in this world" in the span of one season.

The water is a camera based background, like the generic blunderdome background in most rounds. You can never bypass nor reach that skybox
